[Bug 1738813] [NEW] Package should be updated to latest upstream version
Public bug reported: The version of dfu-programmer currently shipped in this package is horribly out of date. The latest upstream version is 0.7.2, which was released in 2015: https://dfu-programmer.github.io/ Among other things, the newer version is required to program AVR32 UC3C devices. [Bug 566986] Re: New upstream release available for cairomm
The base URL in the Devhelp file should normally be translated automatically when running make install. I've just confirmed on my own system that the doc-install.pl script for some reason isn't invoked for the devhelp file during installation. It might be that the mm-common files included with the cairomm tarball are out of date; I'll have a look at this later. -- New upstream release available for cairomm https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/566986 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 566986] Re: New upstream release available for cairomm
No, the symlink is not correct. I just checked again with dpkg -L libcairomm-1.0-doc. The symlink is named libcairomm-1.0, but it should be cairomm-1.0 to match the location where make install would put it. This is important because, among other things, this location is advertised in the pkg-config (.pc) file that is part of the installation: pkg-config --variable=docdir cairomm-1.0 As to the Doxygen tag file, it is used when building the documentation of modules depending on cairomm. With the .gz extension, the file cannot be found by the build scripts, and even if it could be found, Doxygen would be unable to process the gzipped file (I tried that already). And then, as you say, there is the missing Devhelp book (bug #515638). [Bug 566986] Re: New upstream release available for cairomm
Regarding API and ABI: I confirmed with Jonathon Jongsma (upstream maintainer) that no API or ABI that existed in 1.8.0 has been changed in 1.8.4. There have only been additions to undo an accidental removal of API that existed before 1.8.0. I just had a look at the new cairomm packages in proposed and they mostly look good. However, the documentation package is broken: The refererence documentation should be accessible via the /usr/share/doc/cairomm-1.0 directory name. It can be a symlink to a package-specific directory if necessary, as long as other packages using the cairomm-1.0 pkg-config information continue to work (pkg-config --variable docdir cairomm-1.0). The installed Devhelp file also refers to that directory. Unfortunately it seems to be completely missing from the new packages. Also, the automatic compression of the Doxygen tag file must be suppressed because Doxygen currently cannot cope with it, and it won't be found by the documentation cross-reference logic in mm-common. The cairomm package uploaded to my PPA gets these details right, which was the main reason I modified it heavily. It also adds a debug binary package. [Bug 566986] [NEW] New upstream release available
Public bug reported: Ubuntu (and Debian) currently package version 1.8.0 of cairomm. This version is heavily outdated. The latest stable release 1.8.4 was made in October 2009. Due to the revamped build system based on mm-common, the 1.8.4 release of cairomm fixes quite a number of problems related to packaging and system integration, including the bugs #452733 and #515638. Apart from that, the current libcairomm-1.0-dev development package in Lucid is completely unusable because it ships with an utterly broken cairommconfig.h file which redefines macros such as PACKAGE_NAME or VERSION. This, too, was fixed in cairomm 1.8.4. But I'm not sure if this option was ever meant to be used that way, and it isn't reachable via the debconf dialog either. What do you think, should this bug be reassigned to apt-listchanges as a documentation bug, or should synaptic be made to behave better? Maybe it'd be enough to simply remove the putenv(APT_LISTCHANGES_FRONTEND=gtk) from synaptic. The console window should open automatically after a timeout anyway, and apt-listchanges is not installed by default. -- apt-listchanges setup ignored https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/141366 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

OK, for some reason this now works just fine for me. I still have the same drive (PX716-A) and was running feisty around the time it went away. Unfortunately I noticed it way too late to know for sure what has fixed it. It might just be due to one of the firmware updates I did (it's at 1.11 now). Hm, since the upgrade to gutsy I'm seeing these setuid errors too, although I actually *can* log in. There doesn't seem to be any setuid binary on my system which would fit the bill. [Bug 124519] Re: need to add max texture size check
If the check for GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE doesn't fail for the radeon card in question (where it is supposed to fail), it will probably be necessary to write a tiny test program in C which tries to allocate a GL_PROXY_TEXTURE2D of the required size. The GL_MAX_*_SIZE constants are only rough indicators of the real texture capabilities at runtime. In any case checking GL_MAX_3D_TEXTURE_SIZE is definitely broken. It would be great if the original reporter could confirm whether the patched script still properly disables compiz for her/him. But I think a new upload is in order regardless of this particular problem. The patch definitely breaks more than it fixes. I believe only very high-end cards -- or alternatively just lying drivers -- will be able to get past this test as it is now. -- need to add max texture size check https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124519 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 141366] apt-listchanges setup ignored
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: synaptic Synaptic forces apt-listchanges to use the gtk frontend even if it is configured to only send mail. It's been like that for quite a while now but today I felt like investigating the matter. Apparently this is an inadvertent side effect of the fix committed for bug #17999. From gtk/rgdebinstallprogress.cc line 370 [1]: putenv(APT_LISTCHANGES_FRONTEND=gtk); Judging from the apt-listchanges source code this environment variable always takes precedence over the setting in the configuration file. However, I really only want the mail output for easy reference in case I need it, and perhaps for a little relaxed bedtime reading... or maybe not. Anyway, right now there seems to be no way to shut up apt- listchanges and still get the mails, short of hacking synaptic or apt- listchanges. So, to fix this I could either add some logic in synaptic to handle the listchanges frontend properly, or alternatively redefine APT_LISTCHANGES_FRONTEND to only apply if the configuration file doesn't say none or mail, which could be handled within apt-listchanges itself. Any other ideas? Which is the preferred way to go? [Bug 137179] Re: 2.6.1-1ubuntu3 makes apps crash with Bus error
This is strange. I re-upgraded to 2.6.1-1ubuntu3 and it didn't make any difference -- that is, gnome-terminal still worked but evolution didn't. Then I noticed bug #133786 and completely purged and then reinstalled evolution as suggested there. This did indeed fix the problem with evolution, too (and without downgrading libc6). I'm now pretty sure that it is the same bug, as it is also about a Bus error related to package upgrades and on amd64. * What version of the libc6 package did you have installed before 2.6.1-1ubuntu3 ? /var/log/dpkg.log may be helpful if you don't know offhand. According to dpkg.log, I had libc6 2.6.1-1ubuntu2 installed previously, and libc6 2.6.1-1ubuntu1 shortly before that (I think without even a reboot in between; I upgraded from feisty to gutsy just yesterday). * Could you please strace one of the crashing programs and attach the result to the bug report ? Sorry, too late, since unfortunately I forgot to do the strace before trying to reinstall evolution. * Could you run ldconfig and see if that helps (or, with libc6 2.6.1-1ubuntu3, ldconfig.real) ? I actually tried that (both ldconfig and ldconfig.real) before I downgraded to 2.6.1-1ubuntu1 and afterwards as well. It didn't change anything. * I take it this is only happening on one computer. How new is that computer ? Have you had other crashes on it ? I have only one computer with gutsy around at the moment, which was bought in February 2006. I don't recall any crashes which couldn't be traced to some software error. -- 2.6.1-1ubuntu3 makes apps crash with Bus error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/137179 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 58231] Re: copy paste does not work in all text box
Nice catch. I had some trouble reproducing this bug but now I realize what the problem is. The copy/paste actions in the Edit menu always access the main text box, disregarding focus.
