I can confirm this segfault on Lucid. Saving any ammount of LDR pictures
to a HDRI produces a segfault without any further information in
console.

[Bug 484412] Re: [i855gm] Xorg freezes after short time when stressed

2010-03-28 Thread Daniel Kamm
I've tried Lucid Beta 1 which provides xserver-xorg-video-intel
2:2.9.1-1ubuntu13. Same is still happening, though X.org now seems to
detect the crash and starts itself with vga16fg to have control of the
system.

Do I need to file a new bug for Lucid, or do you want to tag this bug
accordingly?

Using Rogers PPA xorg server 5:2.8.0-2-gb0aa94f and the actual main
kernel 2.6.31-16-generic did not solve the problem. Xorg was freezing at
GDM login prompt.

[Bug 484412] Re: [i855GM] Xorg freezes after short time when stressed

2010-01-09 Thread Daniel Kamm
Thank you for the noPAE versions of the kernels and all the tests and
bug solving.

600 crashed after short time
599 was tested for ca. 30 minutes without crash (did some window movement,
glxgears, played videos and solitaire)

So this one seems to work pretty stable on Maxdata Pro 600i
 linux-headers-2.6.31.1-855gmtest599-git522bb74_gomyhr2nopae_i386.deb

How will I get noticed when this is fixed in mainstream kernels?

2010-01-06 Thread Daniel Kamm
Dear Geir,

following the URL you posted in bug 447892
(http://www.kvante.info/855GMfreeze/) I get an HTTP error 403 Forbidden.
Is there an other place to get the kernels?

[Bug 477972] Re: [i855] Karmic / i855GM / Fujistu Siemens Amilo M7400 : Freeze shortly after X startup on Intel i855

2009-11-17 Thread Daniel Kamm
Kernel option 'nomodset' does not solve the problem, neither does an
modset=0 in newly created /etc/modules.d/i915-kms.conf. Driver crash is
not due to enabled KMS im my opinion.

[Bug 484412] [NEW] Xorg freezes after short time (i855GM)

2009-11-17 Thread Daniel Kamm
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Affected system: Maxdata Pro 600i
Graphic Chip: Intel 855GM

Behaviour: System gets locally inresponsitive after a short time when
Xorg started. Mouse cursor is still moveable, but system doesn't react
on mouse click, keyboard clicks or even Ctrl-Alt F2 for console.
However, system is fully available using openssh-server.

System had been upgraded from 9.04 to 9.10, but bug also exists when
using Karmic Live-CD.

'Freeze' can easily be reproduced by stressing the graphics subsystem
(i.e. moving a window fast over the desktop).

I've tried to disable KMS by booting the kernel with option nomodset.
Same behaviour.

Very close to this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/477972

 - Dan

[Bug 477972] Re: Karmic / i855GM / Fujistu Siemens Amilo M7400 : Freeze shortly after X startup on Intel i855

2009-11-08 Thread Daniel Kamm
I can confim this behaviour on Maxdata Pro i600 Notebook. After
upgrading from 9.04 to 9.10 the display freezes and cannot be restarted
at all. The system is fully available from network (i.e. ssh shell) and
can be shut down or restarted. System load is ~1 although 100%idle on
CPU.

There is a stack trace in the messages log which shows, that this must
be a problem of the i915 driver:

[Bug 477972] Re: Karmic / i855GM / Fujistu Siemens Amilo M7400 : Freeze shortly after X startup on Intel i855

2009-11-08 Thread Daniel Kamm
I just realised, this also happens on Karmic Koala Live-CD (just wanted
to do a fresh install). So the i915/855 problem is not only depending on
an upgrade from Intrepid.

[Bug 312969] [NEW] gwenview 2.1.3 does not auto-rotate image upon EXIF tag

2009-01-01 Thread Daniel Kamm
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gwenview

Likewise to bug #129836 (EOG doesn't follow EXIF rotation tag)

Displaying images with EXIF rotation flag set in gwenview 2.1.3, the
main image will not be displayed rotated. But, in thumbnailview, the
EXIF tag is evaluated and the image is displayed rotated. The attached
screen shot should clearly explain the problem.

System: Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex (8.10)
KDE: 4.1.3
Gwenview: 2.1.3

Thank you for checking this issue.
