[Bug 1191474] Re: Security ROOT. Logs without requiring a password!!!

2013-06-16 Thread Daniel Karlsson
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. I see in your modified sudoers file that you have added
the line:

ALL ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD:ALL

This line configures sudo so that no one will have to type any password
at all. Since this is the intended function of sudo I will close this
bug as Invalid. I would also suggest removing the two offending lines in
sudo. You can find more info on sudos behaviour at:

http://www.ducea.com/2006/06/18/linux-tips-password-usage-in-sudo-
passwd-nopasswd/

[Bug 1191536] Re: efi Error grub-installer

2013-06-16 Thread Daniel Karlsson
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make Ubuntu
better. I looked through UbiquityDebug.txt and found the following line in the
part where grup-installer tries to run:
Jun 16 15:12:24 ubuntu kernel: [ 474.812397] FAT-fs (sda2): error,
fat_get_cluster: invalid cluster chain (i_pos 0)

Your EFI filesystem (sda2) where grub should be may be corrupt according to
some earlier log entries:
Jun 16 15:06:10 ubuntu ntfsresize: Filesystem check failed! Totally 16 cluster
accounting mismatches.
Jun 16 15:06:10 ubuntu ntfsresize: ERROR: NTFS is inconsistent. Run chkdsk /f
on Windows then reboot it TWICE!
Jun 16 15:06:10 ubuntu ntfsresize: The usage of the /f parameter is very
IMPORTANT! No modification was
Jun 16 15:06:10 ubuntu ntfsresize: and will be made to NTFS by this software
until it gets repaired.

If you have the ability to boot Windows you could try the above instructions,
if not you can also fix it with Ubuntu. Boot into a Live CD and run:
sudo apt-get install ntfs-3g
sudo ntfsfix partition to fix, probably /dev/sda2

You could also try to completely repartition the disk.
Remeber that doing these operations is not risk-free and take care to back up
any data that you have one the hard drive.

[Bug 1191316] Re: after the last linux-generic upgrade the computer gives a fault

2013-06-15 Thread Daniel Karlsson
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. To make certain that this is a bug I would like to to
check a couple of things. In a terminal enter df -h and paste the
output here. Sometimes /boot is a separate partition that can run out
space if there are many old kernels installed and that could cause this
error.

If there is no space left on /boot you have to remove some old kernels
to make space. I will also mark this bug as a duplicate of #798414 which
deals with this error.

You can manually remove old kernels by following these instructions:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-tools/+bug/798414/comments/10

[Bug 183564] Please sync flightgear 1.0.0-1 from debian unstable

2008-01-16 Thread Daniel Karlsson
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: flightgear

All of the changes from the current Ubuntu package 0.9.10-2ubuntu2 has been
implemented in debian 1.0.0-1 package. So syncing this package will not destroy
any Ubuntu changes. 1.0.0 also comes with a *huge* number of improvements and
bug fixes from upstream.

Upstream changelog, although it does not include the changelog for
1.0.0, oddly enough, it may be worth having a look at:
http://www.flightgear.org/version.html

Note: First time I file a sync request so I expect some information to
be missing.

Hello and thank you for your bug report, it's been some time since you
reported it, I apologize for the delay, but hoppefully we can straighten

What version of Ubuntu do you run, what graphics card/driver do you have

Any information you can provide will helps us to hunt down the bug.

[Bug 146633] Re: Could not calculate the upgrade

2007-09-29 Thread Daniel Karlsson
Thank you for your bug report, first of all, this bug looks similar to
bug #146536, if you belive it is the same, please read through the bug
report and comments and see if you have some more information to
provide. I also saw a workaround which should be worth a try.

If it is not a duplicate can you send more information about your system
and what you were trying to update?

At first it didn't work now it gives out a high pitched noise whenever I

[Bug 146450] Re: [gutsy] Update-manager fails to start

2007-09-29 Thread Daniel Karlsson
Thank you for your bug report, The problem seems to lie in __init.py__
and the fact that no coding has been specified. A potential workaround
may be adding:

# -*- coding: utf-8 -*-

You can do this with the following command:

sudo nano /usr/lib/python2.5/xml/__init__.py

And then adding
# -*- coding: utf-8 -*-
to the very top of the file. Press ctrl-y to save and then ctrl-x.

If that does not work please remove the line again.

I suggest then that you send any additional information that might help,
and wait for that bug to be fixed. I know it's frustrating but that's,
at least I belive so, the best alternative.

[Bug 57659] Re: Add an option to play media files when cd/dvd is inserted

2007-08-13 Thread Daniel Karlsson
Jaded, you should first check whether it already exists at the Ubuntu
specs page (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+specs) in Launchpad.
If that is the case, please feel free to contact the drafter of that
spec about your comments/suggestions. Otherwise you can start writing a
spec following the steps described here:

Thank you for your report Pascal de Bruijn, this isn't actually a bug,
so what you should do is add a spec for it, and maybe it will be
implemented.

not noticing from the beginning. Anyway now you've got the
functionality.
