[Bug 139790] Re: gutsy tribe 5 ok with live cd but doesnt boot when installed (ata_piix problem ?)
I can confirm the same problem with hardy. Livecd works fine, but after clean install hardy doesn't boot. [Bug 227776] [NEW] [hardy] fullscreen games run in maximized window mode if desktop effects are enabled
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz Hi, I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 and noticed the following issue: Fullscreen games run in window mode if desktop effects are enabled and resolution of a game equals to desktop resolution. To reproduce: 1. install a 3D game like Tremulous or Warzone 2. run it and set it to fullscreen resolution that equals your desktop resolution. (I use 1280x1024) 3. quit a game and enable desktop effects. 4. run a game again After that game runs in maximized window mode instead of fullscreen. This doesn't happen if desktop effects are off. [Bug 118510] Re: network profiles problem
Well, I'm now using 7.10 and there is no 'off' option for interface - only 'roaming' and 'custom configuration' I've tried 8.04 alpha5. There is also no 'off' option for network interfaces - just 'roaming mode'. Ok, same laptop, wifi hard switch is off, ubuntu 8.04 alpha5 livecd. When I boot I get right configuration - i.e. only eth0 (wired) interface is up, eth1 (wireless) is down. I can see this with ifconfig command. Then I go into network-admin and just set up static IP for eth0, nothing more. After that my eth1 interface is magically up though with no IP address assigned. I guess I'm just irritated to see that my wireless interface is up, when it's turned off by hard switch, and I can't bring it down using network-admin. -- network profiles problem https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118510 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I just reinstalled the system and this bug vanished. Also I notice a considerable speedup in displaying graphics. So this bug is probably wasn't related to gvim. [Bug 158658] Re: [gutsy] scrolling text in gvim takes 99% CPU
I have clean installation of gutsy gibbon. version of vim package: 7.1-056+2ubuntu2 (gutsy) Laptop: IBM Thinkpad Z60m, 2529-FKG model. Theme: I usually use silicon, but I checked it under human theme to the same result. Effects: effects are off. Video Card: ATI. It happens on both fglrx and ati drivers. As far as I can see this happens with any X and Y. I'll try to check this on my home desktop computer using gutsy livecd. And maybe on some other laptop also. Also I have 'cream' package installed. Can this be the reason? However, I checked this with cream uninstalled - to the same result. [Bug 154261] Re: [gutsy release] Desktop Effects Can't be enabled
Thanks for help :) Well, if I add the line SKIP_CHECKS=yes compiz into /etc/xdg/compiz/compiz-manager then I can start compiz and it seems to work, but 1. When trying to run compiz via System--Preferences--Appearance, Visual Effects is stills displays Desktop Effects Can't be enabled error message, just before compiz starts. 2. Compiz startup takes 30 seconds or even more. 3. Those settings are not saved in gnome session so I must set them again after reboot or relogin. 4. Custom gnome keyboard shortcuts doesn't work. [Bug 118510] network profiles problem
Public bug reported: On my laptop I have wifi, wired and modem. I don't use the modem and it's not configured. I have 2 network profiles in network-admin: home: eth1 (wifi) - off, eth0 (wired) - 172.16.100.2/16 office: eth1 (wifi) - off, eth0 (wired) - 172.16.100.2/16 Actually, only DNS server is defferent. And I have my wifi turned off with hard switch. The problem: If I set up home profile and then reboot, ifconfig shows that both interfaces: eth0 AND eth1 are active, however, network-admin shows that only eth0 is active. If I set up office profile and then reboot, ifconfig still shows that both interfaces are active and even more, gkrellm also thinks that I have them both active (note that that's only for office profile case, not home).
