[Bug 554172] Re: system services using console output not starting at boot
I get: $ runlevel N 2 whatever that means. Luckily my remote production unattended 64bit virtual Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server seems to start Apache, MySQL and SSH when it boots otherwise this would be a disaster. Why do this kind of thing in a LTS release?? Doesn't anyone understand the words server stable conservative - next time I meet Mark Shuttleworth (he has an honorary doctorate from my University) I tell him this is ANOTHER fault caused by unnecessary fiddling by youths. The last one was about Tomcat clobbered by a missing catalina-ant link. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554172 Title: system services using console output not starting at boot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 554172] Re: system services using console output not starting at boot
I cannot see that this has been fixed. I am using 10.04 LTS on my Toshiba Tecra and do Apache development. Most times but not alawys, on boot apache2 does not start so I need to do it manually sudo /etc/init.d/apache2 start -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554172 Title: system services using console output not starting at boot -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 554172] Re: system services not starting at boot
I am running a rack-mounted remote server that I was going to upgrade while the students are away. I cannot rely on ssh to start, or apache2 or mysql so I am somewhat stuffed chaps. Any news on this getting sorted or should I leave it with 7.04 server? -- system services not starting at boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/554172 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 152571] Re: samsung X65 cannot install 7.10 RC
See https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=331027 This was a kernel bug introduced somewhere in 2.6.20 but now fixed in 2.6.24.. had to give up on Ubuntu for this machine as it simply would not install... now running on an updated kernel with openSuse10.3 LiveCD installer... perhaps the next Ubuntu will incorporate this fix.. -- samsung X65 cannot install 7.10 RC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152571 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 152571] samsung X65 cannot install 7.10 RC
Public bug reported: My Samsung X65 laptop refuses to get beyond the very first screen on an install. Says kernel panic. It has NVIDIA Geoforce 8600M graphics and Intel 4965AGN wireless. This machine loaded 7.04 ok in VESA mode and managed the NVIDIA driver kernel upgrade OK, tho could not see the wireless card. Does exactly the same lock-up with KUBUNTU 7.10, (and similarly could cope with openSuse 10.2 but not at all with 10.3. which has this same kernel) ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- samsung X65 cannot install 7.10 RC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/152571 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
