[Bug 1212977] Re: saucy daily-live images are unbootable on Dell Optiplex 990; stuck in BusyBox shell

2013-09-06 Thread David Kiefer
If it helps any, I had this problem when I tried to boot the saucy image from
Aug 18. It dropped me to a busybox shell or when I selected check this CD for
errors the machine would reboot after a few seconds.
However, I now tested it again using the image from Aug 30 and it boots fine.
An older image from Aug 04 also works.
Unfortunately, I can't retest the one from Aug 18 as I've already deleted the
.iso file and overwrote it both on the USB drive and on the DVD I tested it on.

The only other thing that changed (that I can think of) is that on the
hard disk I wanted to install Saucy on, a partition which was a LVM2
volume containing a Fedora 13 install is now replaced with a Raring
install.

[Bug 1047919] [NEW] Freeze or crash occurs when calling Gst::PlayBin2::create()

2012-09-08 Thread David Kiefer
Public bug reported:

Using Linux Mint Maya 64-bit (based on Ubuntu 12.04) and
libgstreamermm-0.10-2 version 0.10.9-1, a call to
Gst::PlayBin2::create() causes the application to freeze or crash. A
glib error message in free() or realloc() is usually printed.

Minimal example:

#include gstreamermm.h

int main()
{
  Gst::init();
  Gst::PlayBin2::create();
}

$ g++ -g main.cpp `pkg-config gstreamermm-0.10 --libs` `pkg-config --cflags
gstreamermm-0.10`
$ ./a.out
*** glibc detected *** ./a.out: free(): invalid next size (normal):
0x02198c00 ***
^C
$

Attached is the valgrind output for the minimal example and two backtraces from
when the application actually crashed instead of simply freezing (from an
actual application that uses gstreamermm).
When running the application with valgrind, the same invalid write as in the
minimal example happens, however the track actually plays for a fraction of a
second. After hitting pause/continue a few dozen times, all following tracks
seem to play properly. Without valgrind, the application freezes or crashes
without exception.

** Affects: gstreamermm (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 655721] [NEW] Nautilus crashes when adding a share

2010-10-06 Thread David Kiefer
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus-share

Nautilus crashes when creating a share, more specifically when having
selected either Allow others to create and delete files in this folder
or Guest access. In that case, Nautilus will ask if it should add the
necessary permissions and when clicking on Add the permissions
automatically, Nautilus crashes. However, the share is still created
correctly.

[Bug 630576] Re: X.org crashes when pressing enter key for the first time after boot

2010-09-10 Thread David Kiefer
Small update: The key 2 has the same effect as the enter key. I tried
every other key on the keyboard including some multimedia keys, but
these two are the only ones that cause the crash (plus the return key on
the numpad if you want to count that).

X.org seems to crash randomly when pressing the enter key.
It has happened several times in gnome-terminal, Firefox, synaptic and
