[Bug 1873731] Re: release-upgrade allowed an upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04 although a strange version of gcc-10-base was installed
I had the same issue with gcc-10-base upgrading 18.04 to 20.04 after having used the ubuntu-toolchain-r/test ppa. The following fixed it: $ sudo apt install ppa-purge $ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-toolchain-r/test $ sudo ppa-purge -o ubuntu-toolchain-r -p test $ sudo apt dist-upgrade $ sudo apt autoremove The ppa-purge automatically downgraded gcc-10-base, libatomic1, libcc1-0, libgcc-s1, libgomp1, libitm1, liblsan0, libquadmath0, libstdc++6, libtsan0 to the ones provided by focal. After that, the dist-upgrade was able to upgrade build-essential, g++, gcc. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1873731 Title: release-upgrade allowed an upgrade from 18.04 to 20.04 although a strange version of gcc-10-base was installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1873731/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 366963] Re: nautilus "open with" property no longer available for folders
Ubuntu Tweak exposes the "open with" setting for folders. Click on System -> File Type Manager in Ubuntu Tweak's sidebar, choose "All" for the category, find "folder" in the list of file types, and click Edit. This fixes problems similar to Revup's in a slightly more intuitive way, but it would still be nice for this setting to appear in Nautilus itself. It is worth noting that even if you use Ubuntu Tweak to pick something other than Nautilus as the default application to open folders, (most?) file managers will continue to function as normal. For example, even after choosing VLC as the default application, I could still browse through directories structures in Nautilus, Dolphin and Thunar. The only changes were that VLC appeared as an "open with" option in the context menu for folders, and that gnome-panel Places used VLC to open folders. So at least in my case Sebastien Bacher's justification that "Changing the default doesn't make sense because when double clicking on a directory in nautilus you get whatever sofrware started rather than the directory open when you do that change" seems contradictory to what actually happens. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/366963 Title: nautilus "open with" property no longer available for folders -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 779782] Re: Mouse release does not activate playback control buttons
In the past, menuitems have always been activated in this way. They still are (cf. mute option in the sound menu, the applications/places/system menus in GNOME classic, any time you have a context menu). Since that seems to be the precedent, what justifies the playback controls being the single exception? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/779782 Title: Mouse release does not activate playback control buttons -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 779782] [NEW] Mouse release does not activate playback control buttons
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: indicator-sound In maverick's sound menu, it was possible to activate the banshee or rhythmbox play/pause, back, and forward controls by pressing the mouse on the indicator applet sound icon, dragging to the chosen control with the mouse button held down, and releasing the mouse button. It looks like the sound menu spec at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SoundMenu is ambiguous as to whether this should activate the controls, but all other menu items in the indicator applet can be activated in this way (as an example, the mute option in the sound menu). The fact that this no longer works for the playback control buttons seems like a bug. To be clear, click/release on the sound menu icon followed by click/release on the playback buttons works perfectly well. The inconsistency is in the playback buttons being more picky than other menu items, in that they can't be triggered by just a mouse release.
