[Bug 754713] Re: Workspace Switcher icon chould change highlighted area
I agree with the OP, I myself wanted t report about this missing feature. The main point is that with the current behavior of unity you do not know where you are, and you have to try changing workspace or do the expo to understand it. [Bug 697230] [NEW] Huawei e1800 internet key does not work
Public bug reported: Hi, I don't know if `linux` is the right package for this bug report, so please change as needed. I have a Huawei e1800 dongle correctly working under latest maverick updates. Under ubuntu 11.04, latest updates, instead, it does not work. I plug in the key, i setup a new mobile connection with network-manager applet which appears in the applet menu. When i click on the connection, it tries to connect but if fails. I attach logs showing debugging information. The last parts of the logs are more interesting. Please let me know if i should provide anything else. [Bug 597564] [NEW] lucid lynx memory leak?
Public bug reported: Hi, i've just installed Ubuntu 10.04 64 bit over a working KK 32bit install. I've noticed high memory usage consumption. Example: i have gnome desktop, no apps. Command free says that i'm using 540 Mb while before i was far below 200 Mb. Please note that i'm considering the active memory, no cache. Example 2: no x server running, logged from tty, i have 200 MB usage, while i had around 50 Mb with KK. The problem is that i cannot understand which process is using all that memory, Here is the output of ps -eF, after gnome login. in this case free says i'm using about 540 Mb. I've read about a bug in ureadahead, which was not releasing memory after a reprofiling. However i've used the suggestion reported somewhere in launchpad to release that memory. The number given above were obtained after this command echo 1|sudo tee /sys/kernel/debug/tracing/buffer_size_kb which actually released about 300 Mb. However the problem still persist after this. [Bug 527969] UdevDb.txt
apport information ** Attachment added: UdevDb.txt http://launchpadlibrarian.net/49620976/UdevDb.txt ** Description changed: Binary package hint: compiz Karmic Koala Steps to reproduce the problem: 1) maximize one of the windows on your desktop. 2) place the cursor somewhere on the titlebar, click and drag it away from the top border. 3) when the window snaps out the window is correctly resized, but the cursor is now placed at the CENTER of the titlebar and not in the original position. 4) because of this the window moves away. This effect is more pronounced if the cursor is placed at the edge of the titlebar. Metacity window manager nicely handles this. The user experience is much more smooth. Some updates. After creating the new user i've copied all files of my previous home dir to the new dir and i cannot login again, even with the new user. To do some debug, i moved back all files, one by one, and I discovered that the last lines in .bashrc prevent gdm from letting me login. These are the lines: # enable programmable completion features (you don't need to enable # this, if it's already enabled in /etc/bash.bashrc and /etc/profile # sources /etc/bash.bashrc). if [ -f /etc/bash_completion ]; then . /etc/bash_completion fi You have to have the bash-completion package installed and these lines uncommented in .bashrc. Hi, thanks for taking the time to report this bug and for helping to make Ubuntu a better OS. The terminal keybindings depend on the readline configuration, which stays in the file /etc/inputrc. [Bug 552724] Re: command dont ended with prompt
Ok, Dino (guessing you're italian, as me) Here is the solution to your problem: when you launch a command in a terminal the program you have launched writes to the screen some messages. What you need to do is to append disown to the command. You will do: pulseaudio disown The means that the program is launched in the background so you have the terminal free and you can write other things. With disown you can close the terminal if you want and pulseadio continues to run. Try without it and you will understand what it does.
