[Bug 1901669] Re: /etc/sudoers.d/99-snapd.conf is ignored

2020-10-27 Thread Denilson
You're right, I was in a hurry, and I still haven't updated to Ubuntu
20.x; so this bug is likely obsolete.

I had indeed read the README file, I remember the "~" but somehow missed
".". I guess the frustration of spending a lot of time with something
trivial made me overlook some details. Sorry for the noise, thanks for
your responses!

[Bug 1901669] [NEW] /etc/sudoers.d/99-snapd.conf is ignored

2020-10-27 Thread Denilson
Public bug reported:

snapd package installs a "/etc/sudoers.d/99-snapd.conf" file.

However, for some (undocumented or poorly documented) reason, files with
dots are ignored by sudo. Thus, "/etc/sudoers.d/99-snapd.conf" is
ignored, but "/etc/sudoers.d/99-snapd" would work.

See: https://askubuntu.com/a/1156564

Impact:
There is little to no impact to snap usage. HOWEVER, there is a high impact on
people trying to create their own sudoers files into /etc/sudoers.d/. People
will see that file in there and will try to follow the same naming convention
(00-foobar.conf), only to waste a lot of time scratching their heads to figure
out why it doesn't work.

Proposed solution:
Rename that file, removing the dot from the filename.

2020-01-10 Thread Denilson
Apparently, version 1.2.6 has GP support, but Ubuntu still has version
1.2.4. It would be nice to bump the package version.

[Bug 606365] Re: unable to import config with inlined ca, cert, key or tls-auth

2016-07-15 Thread Denilson
I tried grabbing the [proxpn.ovpn][1] file ([from this URL][2]) and
importing it into network-manager-openvpn. Unfortunately, the "Save"
button stays disabled with this message:

"Invalid setting IPv4 Settings: ipv4.routes: 1. route cannot be a
default route"

Manually adding the VPN following the instructions from [this URL][3]
works. But I expected to be able to quickly import the .opvn file
instead.

[Bug 1533726] [NEW] xfce4-power-manager 1.4.4 memory leak

2016-01-13 Thread Denilson
Public bug reported:

I have Lubuntu 15.10 (wily).

xfce4-power-manager version 1.4.4 leaks memory. On my laptop, after 20
days of uptime, it was using 1.2GB of RAM.

This has also been reported (by someone else) at
https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=9986

It reported to Xfce Bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12332

The bug is reported as fixed after this patch:

[Bug 1439771] Re: wpa_supplicant[874]: dbus: Failed to construct signal after 'suspend'

2015-06-28 Thread Denilson
My system: Asus X450CA runnning Lubuntu 15.04.

Case 1:
The laptop not connected to anything else. I close down the lid, the laptop
goes to sleep. I open the lid, the laptop wakes up. And the Wi-Fi seems to work
okay afterwards.

Case 2:
The laptop connected to an external HDMI monitor (i.e. dual-head setup). This
way, closing the lid does not make the laptop sleep. I can press Fn+F1 to start
the sleeping procedure. Afterwards, I can press the power button to wake the
laptop up. After it wakes up, Wi-Fi does not work anymore, and I need to run
sudo service network-manager restart.

In both cases, I have LXDE environment, with OpenBox and xfce4-power-
manager.

I have not tried too many variations, though; but I hope this helps reproducing
the issue.

[Bug 1382642] Re: Mic not working for ubuntu 14.04 in asus X550LC

2015-05-24 Thread Denilson
I have an Asus X450CA laptop and I had the same issue.

I solved by following these steps:

1. Install alsa-tools-gui package.
2. Run hdajackretask.
3. Check ☑ Show unconnected pins.
4. At pin 0x18, check ☑ Override and select Microphone from the list.
5. Click Apply now to test if it works.
6. Click Install boot override to make it definitive.

In my case, it was pin 0x18. I don't know if the pin is different for
other laptops.

[Bug 1359803] Re: External mic not being used in combo port

2015-05-23 Thread Denilson
I have the same issue.

Asus X450CA laptop with a single TRRS jack. External headphones work
correctly, but the external microphone does not work at all. Only the
built-in microphone (that hole next to the webcam) is detected. This has
been happening since 13.10 (the first Ubuntu I installed on this laptop,
which was brand-new at that time).

alsamixer shows: Master, Headphone, Speaker, PCM, Mic Boost, Mic Boost,
S/PDIF, Capture, Auto-Mute Mode, Digital.

Interesting that it shows two Mic Boost sliders, but there is no
option to switch to the external microphone. The only recording device
is called Capture.

[Bug 1455602] [NEW] Default volume keybindings do not work when audio is switched to HDMI

2015-05-15 Thread Denilson
Public bug reported:

The default keybindings for changing the volume in Lubuntu are found in
/usr/share/lubuntu/openbox/rc.xml:

!-- Keybinding for Volume management --
keybind key=XF86AudioRaiseVolume
action name=Execute
commandamixer -q sset Master 3%+ unmute/command
/action
/keybind
keybind key=XF86AudioLowerVolume
action name=Execute
commandamixer -q sset Master 3%- unmute/command
/action
/keybind
keybind key=XF86AudioMute
action name=Execute
commandamixer -q sset Master toggle/command
/action
/keybind

If you are running Lubuntu on a laptop (which has the built-in audio
card with analog audio), those commands work correctly.

However, when you switch the audio to HDMI, those commands do not work
anymore.

To switch to HDMI audio:
pacmd set-card-profile 0 output:hdmi-stereo+input:analog-stereo

To switch back to analog audio:
pacmd set-card-profile 0 output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo

Alternatively, right-click on the speaker icon at lxpanel, select
Volume Control Settings, and change the active profile at the
Configuration tab.

The solution for this bug is quite simple: just add -D pulse to each of those
commands, like this:

!-- Keybinding for Volume management --
keybind key=XF86AudioRaiseVolume
  action name=Execute
commandamixer -q -D pulse sset Master 3%+ unmute/command
  /action
/keybind
keybind key=XF86AudioLowerVolume
  action name=Execute
commandamixer -q -D pulse sset Master 3%- unmute/command
  /action
/keybind
keybind key=XF86AudioMute
  action name=Execute
commandamixer -q -D pulse sset Master toggle/command
  /action
/keybind

This solution was found here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1956323
https://askubuntu.com/questions/349541/finding-volume-raise-lower-commands/

This solution, however, will not update the user's own configuration file, and
probably it shouldn't try anyway.

[Bug 1455219] [NEW] Cannot connect to PPPoE using NetworkManager: Could not find pppoe binary.

2015-05-14 Thread Denilson
Public bug reported:

TL;DR: NetworkManager requires pppoe package, which was not installed
by default in Lubuntu 15.04.

I tried using Network Manager (nm-applet) to configure a PPPoE connection. I
can create the connection, but trying to connect to it fails.

The erro message that shows up in a dialog is not helpful at all:

(1) Creating object for path
'/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/23' failed in libnm-
glib.

What is helpful is a message buried in /var/log/syslog:

NetworkManager[713]: warn (eth0): PPPoE failed to start: Could not find pppoe
binary.

Workaround: apt-get install pppoe.

Desirable solution: pppoe package being a dependency of another package
(lubuntu-desktop seems like a good one).

Using Lubuntu 15.04 (upgraded from previous versions). This is the first time
configuring a DSL/PPPoE connection in this system.

[Bug 1367872] [NEW] Change menu item location of scripts/tuxcomputers-split-tone.scm

2014-09-10 Thread Denilson
Public bug reported:

The scripts/tuxcomputers-split-tone.scm script installs its menu item

leads to the creation of a new top-level menu.

This issue has also been commented on the GIMP Plugin Registry page:

The fix is simple, just change the last line from the script to
something else.
