[Bug 1308105]

2018-06-08 Thread Drew Lustro
Wow... thank heavens. I can also very that the patch from Comment #53
has solved this bug that has been driving me nuts for weeks. I would
lose my entire X session every single day as soon as the screen
blanked... quite troublesome when you're trying to make linux work as
your daily drive, haha.

I had to learn how to patch a .deb file properly in the process, but
that was worth it too.

Cannot thank you enough, @jkampe68

[Bug 1719128] Re: Automatic login works only for wayland session

2017-12-20 Thread Drew Lustro
Confirmed this is affecting my system. Ubuntu 17.10 with proprietary
Nvidia drivers. GDM3 cannot seem to auto-select non-wayland session or
something. All options attempted in /etc/gdm3/custom.conf do not work.

[Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled

2016-06-20 Thread Drew Lustro
OK. This has been driving me nuts for weeks. I would lose my entire X
session every single day as soon as the screen blanked... quite
troublesome when you're trying to make linux work as your daily drive,
haha.

*Confirmed fix* w/ the patch suggested on xfce's bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11107#c53

Download the xfce4-settings source, apply the patch, increment with a
non-maintainer version number (for no future apt-get conflicts once this
gets an official fix), and reinstall your patched xfce4-settings.

I had to learn how to patch a .deb file properly in the process, but
that was worth it too.

[Bug 1581302] Re: Monitor remains blanked with Intel Graphics

2016-06-20 Thread Drew Lustro
For anyone running xfce4 with this bug driving them nuts, it may pertain
to a known bug in xfsettingsd.

Check out the patch noted here:
https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11107#c53

Download the xfce4-settings source, apply the patch, increment with a
non-maintainer version number (for no future apt-get conflicts once this
gets an official fix), and reinstall your patched xfce4-settings.

The aforementioned screen blank patch fixed this bug that has been
driving me nuts for weeks. I would lose my entire X session every single
day as soon as the screen blanked... quite troublesome when you're
trying to make linux work as your daily drive, haha.

I had to learn how to patch a .deb file properly in the process, but
