[Bug 280189] Re: wishlist: update libcdk-java to CDK 1.3.x

2012-08-05 Thread Egon Willighagen
CDK 1.4.13 is released now. I have checked the debian/ folder on Alioth,
and have the attached patch to simplify compiling by reducing the amount
of needed patching.

** Patch added:

[Bug 646662] [NEW] dh_make_perl fails to install the create .deb

2010-09-24 Thread Egon Willighagen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dh-make-perl

To reproduce:

$ cd /tmp
$ sudo dh-make-perl --install --cpan PatchReader

Output (last, relevant lines only):

dpkg-deb: building package `libpatchreader-perl' in
`../libpatchreader-perl_0.9.5-1_all.deb'.
make: Leaving directory `/PatchReader-0.9.5'
dpkg: error processing /tmp/libpatchreader-perl_0.9.5-1_all.deb (--install):
 cannot access archive: No such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /tmp/libpatchreader-perl_0.9.5-1_all.deb
Cannot install package /tmp/libpatchreader-perl_0.9.5-1_all.deb

The problem is that the .deb is created in / (?), while the install
command expects it in /tmp...

2010-09-14 Thread Egon Willighagen
I still have this problem; it happens when recovering from suspend but
also sometimes upon booting... booting in recovery mode and then resume
and manually booting *kdm* seems to work as workaround...

I'll try to attach that apport output...

2009-03-13 Thread Egon Willighagen
I had a go at making a patch, but my packaging knowledge is a bit rusty,

I have uploaded to my PPA [0] and no errors from dput, but it does not
show up yet. Attached is the .diff.gz, but I just noticed that I did not
remove the backup debian.ubuntu/ folder...

Anyway, the patch consists of a patch to adapt the scomp command line
wrapper to find the right jars, and a patch to rules to have it
installed.

[Bug 341582] [NEW] Plasma crashes due to screen size settings?

2009-03-12 Thread Egon Willighagen
Public bug reported:

I have been monitoring reproducable crashes on startup of plasma in the
Ubuntu 4.2.1 Jaunty debs...

Setting: HP laptop often connected to a 1920x1200 screen at work. I have
no special plasmoids installed, and only typically move the sidebar to
the top, and make it fit the wide screen external monitor.

Workaround:
$ cd ~/.kde/share/config
$ rm plasma*
$ touch plasmarc

(That last actually is needed to still make it crash on a file not
found, it seems)

Attached:
output on plasma startup

In debugging I just deleted the faulty config files, but will attach
those shortly.

OK, since this automaximizing and removal of window borders seems to a
feature, which is not likely to be suitable for laptop windows
environments, and aimed at mobile devices other than laptops, might this
report be read as:

wishlist to have something like (k)ubuntu-desktop(?) conflict with
ubuntu-mobile? I know in retrospect that ubuntu-mobile was not for me,
but the packages it depended on did not make me realize that was *not*
for laptops, but for smaller devices where automaximize make sense...

Yesterday, this happened in one machine, and this morning after reboot
on my other laptop too. Both are upgraded from Hardy. On the first I
repeatedly removed the .kde folder (renamed it to .kde.old), and per
Riddel's comments on IRC, I made sure I had no funny window preferences
in kwin*rc. I had the problem with the default 4.1.2, and since my
second laptop ran 4.1.3 did not have the problem, I upgraded.

The second machine I upgraded a few weeks back already, and only started
showing the problem today, with a last reboot 4 days ago. In that time,
I installed several packages, one of which may have set some automagic
parameter, possible a dependency of 'ubuntu-mobile'?

Suggestions on how to debug this most welcome.

Details:

Likely a duplicate of Bug 289106, but could not mark is at duplicate,
because I got this error:

Bug 289106 is already a duplicate of bug 252094. You can only mark a
bug report as duplicate of one that isn't a duplicate itself.

Possibly, the bug is indeed actually a duplicate of 252094, but no clue
about that.

[Bug 197274] [NEW] dist-upgrade to hardy complains because /tmp is noexec

2008-03-01 Thread Egon Willighagen
Public bug reported:

When doing a aptitude dist-upgrade from gutsy to hardy (2008-03-01) I
get this error:

snip
Need to get 0B/41.2MB of archives. After unpacking 144MB will be used.

Caused by /tmp being mounted as noexec... removing that solves the
problem. Mounting /tmp as noexec is often reported as good security
measure, and was using it as such. No idea how much is now not
configured, maybe even some important things. The problem is that the
packages for which the configure fail do not fail in itself, possibly
making some upgrade packages not working?

[Bug 191502] [NEW] saveXML output does properly reflect XML document namespace

2008-02-13 Thread Egon Willighagen
Public bug reported:

The code:

library(XML)
z = xmlTree()
z$addNode(r:data,  namespace = c(r = http://www.r-project.org;, omg =
http://www.omegahat.org;), close = FALSE)
x = rnorm(3)
z$addNode(r:numeric, attrs = c(omg:length = length(x)))
cat(saveXML(z))

gives this output:

?xml version=1.0?
data xmlns:r=http://www.r-project.org;
xmlns:omg=http://www.omegahat.org;numeric omg:length=3//data

This is wrong. The root element lost its namespace in the serialization.

It should have looked like:

?xml version=1.0?

[Bug 134535] Typo in description

2007-08-24 Thread Egon Willighagen
Public bug reported:

The package description in packages.ubuntu.com for gutsy states:

This tool will allow you to create a media (CD or DVD) to use to install
software via APT in a non-conected machine, as well upgrade and install
the same set of softwares in several machines with no need to re-
download the packages again.

[Bug 79185] MPQC does not support multiprocessor support?

2007-01-14 Thread Egon Willighagen
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mpqc

$ export MESSAGEGRP='MPIMessageGrp:(n=2)'
$ mpqc water.inp
ClassDesc::load_class looking for ./classes
ClassDesc::load_class(MPIMessageGrp): load failed
Either MPIMessageGrp is an invalid class name or the code
for MPIMessageGrp was not linked into the executable.
Segmentation fault

Looking at the dependencies, MPI indeed does not seem to be used, which
makes a 'Massively Parallel Quantum Chemistry' program rather
featureless :(

It seems to apply to Debian testing/unstable too, though at least debian
has (had) MPI support. What is the reason that MPI support is not
available?
