[Bug 1201180] Re: powerbtn.sh conflicts with logind

2015-10-06 Thread Erik Hovland
I can confirm that systemd logind is in control of the power button on
my ASUS UX305 laptop as of Kubuntu 15.04. This means that no matter what
the settings in KDE system-settings the power button is handled by
logind.

Since the power button is right above backspace and I often hit the backspace
key (and have accidentally shut off my laptop several times) I have changed the
line in /etc/systemd/logind.conf to:
HandlePowerKey=ignore

This renders the power key useless, but that is better then accidentally
shutting my computer off in the middle of typing.

If logind is going to "handle" the power key, maybe system-settings
should deal with logind and not acpi or whatever else system-settings is
trying modify to get configuration control of the power key?

[Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled

2015-08-07 Thread Erik Hovland
Adding my me too. I have a ECS Liva X with an intel graphics chip. When
I turn off my Samsung TV the screen goes away. I added the suggestion
above (killall xsettingsd) to the /etc/mythtv/session-settings and was
able to confirm that it does workaround the problem.

[Bug 1101656] [NEW] python-netcdf in quantal linked to old libnetcdf

2013-01-18 Thread Erik Hovland
Public bug reported:

When I install the python-netcdf package from quantal and I create a python
script w/ only the line from netCDF4 import Dataset. If I then run that
script I get the error message:
from netCDF4 import Dataset
ImportError: libnetcdf.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory

Quantal only has libnetcdf.so.7, so I think that for whatever reason
python-netcdf was not updated for this version of ubuntu.

** Affects: python-scientific (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
