[Bug 147361] Re: kdm crashes when randr is enabled
Seeing the same - but later: if I run xrandr when logged in. I have a dualhead set up on my laptop, the computer that this is about, but I don't want to hardcode it into xorg.conf because then it will complain if I'm not near the separate monitor. So I run a few xrandr commands after login and presto, it works. Most of the time. It seems that if I run two xrandr commands in quick succession while the machine is busy, it often locks up (in the same sense as the others have described above); same if I ask KDE to tamper with the resolution. If I wait after login till the system has settled down, I can run the xrandr command that sets things up without problem. Attaching trimmed /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old, this is when it locked up badly. Will also attach /var/log/Xorg.0.log, my currently running session where everything works blissfully. ** Attachment added: Trimmed from around 1M to 5200 lines http://launchpadlibrarian.net/21182294/Xorg.0.log.old.trimmed -- kdm crashes when randr is enabled https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/147361 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Similar case here. I experienced the same when trying to add an extension - e.g. if I try to add greasemonkey, I click the add to firefox... button on https://addons.mozilla.org/en- US/firefox/addon/748, I see the dialog appearing in a flash and then firefox closes. [Bug 230809] Re: sigabrt when font face set to Inconsolata
Hmm... it looks like for me it was simply a matter of having a bad package installed... At one point I installed emacs-snapshot version 1:20080228-2~gutsy from Alex Vassalotti. I realized at some point that emacs-snapshot in the regular archives were now also built with xft support, and removed avassalotti's repository from my sources.list. But apparently I never downgraded to a version in the main repositories. By installing emacs-snapshot-dbgsym, I was forced to realize this and downgrade to 1:20080228-1ubuntu1, which does not have this problem. -- sigabrt when font face set to Inconsolata https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230809 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 230809] Re: sigabrt when font face set to Inconsolata
Was bitten by this too - or something very similar at least. If I start emacs-snapshot -Q, then M-x customize-face, default, set font-family to unknown-inconsolata, it would work as long as I don't complete anything. But completing anything would trigger it: e.g., C-x C-f, hit TAB after the ~/. Leads to a different signal though - segmentation fault (11). Note that xfontsel thinks that inconsolata has spc equal to p for proportional. That seems strange. [Bug 62195] Re: edgy update-grub destroys kopt
Hi, I was bitten by this as well. While I appreciate that the new default should be UUID-based, I think this should be taken care of in the hooks of the grub package. I think it's absolutely wrong that running update-grub (which typically occurs after installing a new kernel, as you all know) after having manually reset kopt to #kopt=root=/dev/hda5 forces this back to #kopt=root=UUID=some-hex-gibberish This in effect means that there's no way to avoid having to manually re- edit menu.lst after each update-grub. To be explicit: If I put # kopt=root=/dev/hda5 ro in the right place in menu.lst, then run update-grub, I get # kopt=root=UUID=7138f191-499e-4b7e-8f68-c1019f785215 ro in that same place back, and consequently kernel /vmlinuz-xyz root=UUID=7138f191-499e-4b7e-8f68-c1019f785215 ro quiet splash in the boot stanzas. This is in contradiction to the man page of update- grub, which states that this is one of the two options that I should configure. So in particular, I think that the function convert_kopt_to_uuid in /sbin/update-grub should be ripped out and moved into somewhere in the hook scripts. -- edgy update-grub destroys kopt https://launchpad.net/bugs/62195 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 59254] Re: dist-upgrade dapper - edgy barfs at libc6
Ah, found it! After trying unsuccessful stuff (including wondering why I had LANGUAGE=en_NL:en in /etc/environment) for an hour or so, I remembered that I have patched exec-shield into the kernel. Turning it off made it work. So this might point to some uncareful coding in iconvconfig, causing it to trip over exec-shield restrictions. However, the immediate bug can be closed I think? -- dist-upgrade dapper - edgy barfs at libc6 https://launchpad.net/bugs/59254 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 54566] f-spot crashes while trying to generate a thumbnail for a particular photo
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: f-spot I can only reproduce it when importing a particular thumbnail from my camera. I shall try to attach it to this message; if that won't work I'll post a URL where to find it. This happens during downloading of the thumbnails. If I download the thumbnail separately (with gphoto2) and then ask f-spot to import that thumbnail, it doesn't crash but simply says there's no images in that directory. Steps to reproduce: For the crash: 0. Attach camera (Canon powershot A610). 1. Start f-spot. 2. Click the plus in the lower left corner. 3. Select camera (PTP mode). Actual result: It shows a crash dialog with this text: An unhandled exception was thrown: Error displaying image in 0x00068 Gdk.PixbufLoader:Close () in 0x0002c Gdk.PixbufLoader:InitFromStream (System.IO.Stream stream) in 0x00016 Gdk.PixbufLoader:.ctor (System.IO.Stream stream) in 0x0001d Gdk.Pixbuf:.ctor (System.IO.Stream stream) in 0x0006e GPhotoCamera:GetPreviewPixbuf (.GPhotoCameraFile camfile) in 0x00181 FSpot.CameraFileSelectionDialog:GetPreviews () in 0x00300 FSpot.CameraFileSelectionDialog:CreateInterface () in 0x00012 FSpot.CameraFileSelectionDialog:Run () in 0x00214 MainWindow:ImportCamera (System.String camera_device) in 0x0021c ImportCommand:set_Source (.SourceItem value) in 0x0003e ImportCommand+SourceMenu:HandleActivated (System.Object sender, System.EventArgs args) in (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate:invoke_void_object_EventArgs (object,System.EventArgs) in 0x00093 GLib.Signal:voidObjectCallback (IntPtr handle, IntPtr gch) in (wrapper native-to-managed) GLib.Signal:voidObjectCallback (intptr,intptr) in 0x0 unknown method in (wrapper managed-to-native) Gtk.Dialog:gtk_dialog_run (intptr) in 0x0001d Gtk.Dialog:Run () in 0x0049d ImportCommand:ImportFromFile (.PhotoStore store, System.String path) in 0x00054 MainWindow:HandleImportCommand (System.Object sender, System.EventArgs e) in (wrapper delegate-invoke) System.MulticastDelegate:invoke_void_object_EventArgs (object,System.EventArgs) in 0x00093 GLib.Signal:voidObjectCallback (IntPtr handle, IntPtr gch) in (wrapper native-to-managed) GLib.Signal:voidObjectCallback (intptr,intptr) in 0x0 unknown method in (wrapper managed-to-native) Gtk.Application:gtk_main () in 0x7 Gtk.Application:Run () in 0x7 Gnome.Program:Run () in 0x00542 FSpot.Driver:Main (System.String[] args) .NET Version: 1.1.4322.2032 Assembly Version Information: libgphoto2-sharp (1.0.2334.23664) FlickrNet (1.1.0.0) System.Web (1.0.5000.0) gconf-sharp (2.8.0.0) pango-sharp (2.8.0.0) SemWeb (0.5.0.2) glade-sharp (2.8.0.0) gtkhtml-sharp (2.8.0.0) System.Data (1.0.5000.0) Mono.Data.SqliteClient (1.0.5000.0) gdk-sharp (2.8.0.0) Mono.Posix (1.0.5000.0) gnome-vfs-sharp (2.8.0.0) dbus-sharp (0.60.0.0) System (1.0.5000.0) atk-sharp (2.8.0.0) gtk-sharp (2.8.0.0) glib-sharp (2.8.0.0) gnome-sharp (2.8.0.0) f-spot (0.0.0.0) mscorlib (1.0.5000.0) Platform Information: Linux 2.6.16-execsh-1-beer2 i686 unknown GNU/Linux Disribution Information: [/etc/debian_version] testing/unstable [/etc/lsb-release] DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=6.06 DISTRIB_CODENAME=dapper DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION=Ubuntu 6.06 LTS I now need to click 'Exit' to exit f-spot.
