[Bug 1756824] Re: Intel wifi bluetooth coexistence issue in 18.04

2018-05-26 Thread Erki Hallingu
It's probably not. This issue described here is specific for intel
hardware (8260 and 8265) and its fixed already in upstream firmware
specific for these intel cards.

[Bug 787451] Re: pcscd spams to syslog and kern.log after enabling smartcard reader in VMWare Workstation

2017-11-29 Thread Erki Hallingu
I'm still having the same issue: in Ubuntu 18.04 and Virtualbox 5.2.2.

Disabling pcscd before attaching reader to virtualbox removes the log
flooding. But its very inconvinient. I have two card readers and I need
to use one for host (ubuntu) and one for guest (windows). Is there a way
to disable one card reader in pcscd to reserve it for guest windows?

Java swing demo application has the same issue when choosing GTK+ look.
Workaround is to launch netbeans (or java swing demo) with command line
option: "netbeans --laf Metal". This way it will look ugly and does not
blend well with overall desktop but at least menu is readable.

My preivious report was false, please disregard. I resolved it by
removing all X related dot files in my home folder.

I still get ddxSigGiveUp message when closing X but I do not know what

[Bug 324485] Re: gnome-display-properties quits with segmentation fault

2009-02-03 Thread Erki Hallingu
I was able to get it working with :

1) add manually following lines to xorg.conf
DefaultDepth24
SubSection "Display"
Modes "1920x1200" "1280x800"
Virtual 3200 1200
EndSubSection
2) restart X (logout and login again)
3) start gnome-display-properties
4) gnome-display-properties now displays only one monitor
5) to get both monitor visible, I checked Mirror screen checmark (press Apply
after that) and then uncheck again Mirror screen with another press of Apply.
6) Now I can see both of my monitors and configure them normally in
gnome-display-properties dialog

With smaller external monitor or without external monitor, all these
manual steps are not needed and gnome-display-properties application
adds required lines (Virtual display definition) to xorg.conf
automatically.

[Bug 299378] Re: network manager vpn dhcp error

2008-12-31 Thread Erki Hallingu
installed latest network-manager from ppa and still got same issue:

openvpn connects OK but after few seconds nm creates Auto tap0
connection under wired tab and starts querying ip via dhcp which kills
ip already assigned to tap0 by openvpn server.

I was able to overcome this by adding

iface tap0 inet dhcp

line to /etc/network/interfaces file so nm does not manage tap0. (It
still creates one but it does not start dhcp query on it)

[Bug 299378] [NEW] network manager vpn dhcp error

2008-11-18 Thread Erki Hallingu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

When starting openvpn connection it connects ok, but after about 10
seconds it starts to query for ip address via dhcp and consequently
loses it's ip address which it got from openvpn server.

Also it creates under the wired connection tab "Auto tap0" connection
which has dhcp selected. It seems that this is the source of this
problem.

It also happens when starting openvpn connection manually not from nm-
applet.

As a result it is not possible to use network manager with openvpn. I'm
only able to connect to openvpn by inserting eth0 and tap0 interfaces
into /etc/netwok/interfaces file.

[Bug 286383] Re: dual screen gnome desktop problem

2008-11-06 Thread Erki Hallingu
** Description changed:

  Hi,

I have dual screen setup with 1024x768 and 1280x1024 screens. Desktop is
expanded over both of them so I can drag application windows from one
  screen to the other.

I have following in xorg.conf to enable above configuration.
SubSection "Display"
Virtual 2304 1110
EndSubSection

  video hardware is intel 945gm

  I have following problems:
  - when using this setup, right click menu on desktop does not open. When
using only one screen, it works.
  - After logon mouse movement is restricted to upper left corner area of
desktop about the size of my smaller monitor (1024x768). Mouse movment is
enabled to all desktop when I first click on desktop.
  - desktop background image is not expanded but is tiled and there is no
possibility to change that because of not working desktop right click menu.
  - external monitor is flickering to black couple of times after logon
  - when alternating booting between one screen and dual screen, when in
dualscreen mode, some icons on desktop are in upper left area of my desktop
which is not visible because my leftside monitor is smaller. Normal behavior
should be that all icons are moved to visible area of desktop only. When
maximizing window on screen which lower visible border is not at the bottom of
desktop, window is maximised to the bottom of desktop and lower part of windows
(statusbar, etc.) becomes hidden. Normal should be to maximize to the visible
portion of desktop.
- - also tilda terminal does not work when in dualscreen mode. yakuake which is
kde based works.

[Bug 286383] Re: dual screen gnome desktop problem

2008-11-04 Thread Erki Hallingu
Most of these symptoms do not exist when I boot up with only laptop
monitor and then add external screen dynamically, using display settings
applet.

This is also dependent on virtual screen size (intel driver 2048x2048
limitation??), i.e. when I shift monitors in display applet to certain
amount so that virtual screen becomes too big, these sympotms still
appear.

[Bug 268534] Re: Network Manager, Add IPv4 routes fails

2008-11-03 Thread Erki Hallingu
I discovered that when putting 8 to prefix, the route is saved.
Previosly I used 0 as prefix.

Consider this to be my stupidity, somehow did not get the idea that
prefix means 149/8 notion.

But there still should be some kind of example on that specific screen
or warning that you have something wrong with your route.

[Bug 268534] Re: Network Manager, Add IPv4 routes fails

2008-11-02 Thread Erki Hallingu
It does not depend on system or auto settings. I choose one existing
connection and try to add new route to it by IPv4
settings-->Routes-->Add. It is possible to add a route and it is
remembered when I close Routes window. When I press now OK again to go
back to first network manager window and go then back to "Edit
connection"->IPv4 settings->Routes, then routes window is empty again,
my previously entered route was not saved. I have tried every
combination of system and auto checkmarks, these do not change this.

- - when alternating booting between one screen and dual screen, when in
dualscreen mode, some icons on desktop are in upper left area of my desktop
which is not visible because my leftside monitor is smaller. Normal behavior
should be that all icons are moved to visible area of desktop only. When
maximizing window on my smaller screen it recognizes the visible screen area
correctly.

[Bug 275230] [NEW] rtl-8185 wifi card shows very weak signal

2008-09-27 Thread Erki Hallingu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

I have a rtl-8185 wifi card:
00:09.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8185 IEEE
802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 20)

00:09.0 0200: 10ec:8185 (rev 20)
Kernel driver in use: rtl8180
Kernel modules: rtl8180

wifi card is recognized and works sort of but network manager shows very
weak signal, 10% or something like that.

it connects to not secured wifi access point, but connects very seldom,
after numerous retries to WEP and WPA networks.

[Bug 260291] Re: Network Manager 0.7, openvpn, VPN Connection Failed

2008-09-17 Thread Erki Hallingu
Hi,
I discovered that my problem was indeed different. While experimenting with
various settings, I had accidentally left "System setting" as checked. When
clearing that checkmark, my connection starts working.

Why does this affect the connection? If I understood correctly, this
means that by checking "System setting", the connection should by made
without user login. But when I'm actually logged in, the connection
should still be possible irrelevant of this setting?

[Bug 268534] [NEW] Network Manager, openvpn, Add IPv4 routes fails

2008-09-10 Thread Erki Hallingu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

Network Manager openvpn helper does not save manually entered routes.

When going to "Network Connections"-->"VPN"-->Add-->choose
OpenVPN-->IPv4 settings-->Routes-->Add

from this window it is possible to add additional routes for connection.
But when you leave this connection window and come back, routes window
is empty again with no routes.

Otherwise openvpn connects correctly and connection works.

[Bug 253881] [NEW] Atheros AR242x wifi card does not work with ath5k kernel module

2008-08-01 Thread Erki Hallingu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: madwifi-tools

I have 2.6.26-5 kernel.

My wifi card worked up to 2.6.26-2 kernel. But does not work out of box
since then. I guess it's because madwifi ath_pci was replaced by ath5k.
ath5k does not work with this wifi card.

Card is recognized as:
05:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR242x 802.11abg
Wireless PCI Express Adapter (rev 01)

modprobe ath5k results with this:
[ 2109.632907] ath5k_pci :05:00.0: registered as 'phy0'
[ 2109.711209] phy0: Selected rate control algorithm 'pid'

[ 2109.778020] udev: renamed network interface wlan0 to ath0
[ 2109.858722] ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): ath0: link is not ready

My card works again when downloading source from madwifi.org and

[Bug 240851] [NEW] Firefox address bar search feature not working

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: language-support-et

Hi,

When using firefox in gnome with Estonian interface, and writing 'linux
today' in address bar I get http://www.linux%2btoday.com/ and
corresponding message that this address does not exist.

When selecting English as default language in Gnome Language Support
application I'm redirected to address www.linuxtoday.com, which is
correct.

Address bar escapes spaces wrongly in Estonian (or other non English??)

[Bug 238215] Re: gnome-display-properties only allowing cloned screens

First part of my previous comment is xorg realted, yes. But the thing
that when I check "Clone Screens" in gnome-display-properties and when I
later uncheck "Clone Screens" it does not restore the
~/gnome2/monitors.xml file to the state it was before. This is gnome-
display-properties issue.

[Bug 238215] Re: gnome-display-properties only allowing cloned screens

2008-06-11 Thread Erki Hallingu
it is related, but not exactly the same. I also had to manually edit
xorg.conf to get it to work. Ubuntu's install and safe-mode configures
xorg.conf wrong for my hardware (Fujitsu-Siemens S7110 with Intel
945GM), "vesa" and "i810" x drivers are used which do not work for dual
screen setup. I used "intel" x driver manually in xorg.conf and it works
correctly until you choose "Cloned Screens" from gnome-display-
properties.

After that it is not possible to change it back to not cloned mode from
gui. I can restore normal screen setup only by deleting
~/gnome2/monitors.xml and restarting X.

[Bug 239109] [NEW] Network manager openvpn

2008-06-11 Thread Erki Hallingu
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager-openvpn

Network Manager openvpn helper does not run scripts in
/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d.

When my wired or wireless connection is made, these scripts are run. i
need to use them to adjust routings sometimes.

But they do not run when OpenVPN connection comes up. Also there is no
possibility to configure route-up (like it works in openvpn conf file
without nm) script in nm openvpn gui.

The openvpn gui is probably an feature request but
/etc/NetworkManager/dispatcher.d scripts should be run consistently
regardless of which type connection is made.

** Affects: network-manager-openvpn (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 238215] Re: gnome-display-properties only allowing cloned screens

2008-06-11 Thread Erki Hallingu
I have similar problem. When using dual screen setup with Intel 945,
everything works as expected. gnome-display-properties shows two
monitors. Now If I select "Clone Screens" checkbox screens are cloned,
that is correct. But problem is that when I now deselect "Clone
Screens", It does not change back to extended desktop setup. And gnome-
display-properties also shows only one monitor.

Only by resetting ~/.gnome2/monitors.xml it is possible to go back to
two monitors/extended desktop setup.
