[Bug 519971] Re: HP 5610 Checking ink levels fails
I no longer have this printer, so I will be unable to test to see if the bug has been fixed with this printer. I currently have an HP 6700. Checking the ink levels for the printer properties returns, "Marker levels are not reported for this printer." I don't know if this is a CUPS problem or is just simply not a supported feature for this printer. If ink levels are supposed to be available for this and similar HP printers through the desktop printer properties, then a communication error still exists. Otherwise, ink levels are reported directly through the printer's screen interface. This was, of course, not a previously available feature for the prior printer. As the information is available through other means, it is not critical it be available through the printer properties. It would be nice if it could be available though and could signify incomplete communication between the printer and CUPS. I don't have enough information to know if this is an ongoing bug or not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/519971 Title: HP 5610 Checking ink levels fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/519971/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1746652] Re: Document property profiles
In reference to number 2 above. I went back and reread the help manual. I now see that when selecting Save As from the File menu, Templates shows up as one of my places (I use Thunar file manager and it shows on the left). When selected, it appears to save the file in /usr/share/inkscape/templates/ folder. Again, this was not super obvious because my eyes don't always look at the places option when saving a file. I compared some other software packages to see how they handle this: LibreOffice - Save as dialog has the option to save the file as a template (.ODT) the file format drop down. Scribus - Save as Template in the File drop down menu. Krita - Create template from image in the File drop down menu. Gimp - Create template in the file drop down menu It may be helpful to create an option in the File drop down menu that is more explicit. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1746652 Title: Document property profiles To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/1746652/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1746652] Re: Document property profiles
I attempted to create a new document to save as a template with my preferred settings. I cannot overwrite the default.svg file without changing permissions on the /usr/share/inkscape/templates/ folder. This means that I cannot create and save any template and have it stored in the templates folder without changing permissions of that folder. Current work around is to create a file and store it in my documents folder and open that instead. So from a usability perspective these things needs to be considered: 1. Create a document profiles system that a user can click on preferred settings in the document properties box. 2. Allow the user to create and save templates in an accessible area. Of course a user can do that now, but it is not all that clear on how that should be done especially with the New from Template option. It is a bit confusing. At a minimum an average user should not need root access or have to change folder permissions to create, edit, or save templates. Perhaps create a template SVG file format? 3. Include default document property option settings for program launch in the Global Inkscape Preferences menu.
Thank you for the response. I think that blog entry is out of date. I created a default.svg and saved it to home/.config/inkscape/templates. There was no existing default.svg file existing to overwrite. Upon relaunching Inkscape, the modified default template was not launched. I noticed in the home/.config/inkscape folder a preferences.xml file. I suspect that is where some default settings are stored, though I do not think that as a regular user that is something I should edit nor would I have known to edit it. If a document profile system is not created, then options need to be available through the global Inkscape settings menu. (As an aside, I tried to save a default.svg to the above folder from within Inkscape, but Thunar would not show me hidden files/folders from within the Save As window in Inkscape. Not sure if that is an Inkscape or Thunar problem. My work around was to save to the desktop and manually move it over). Creating a document New from Template pulls the templates from /usr/share/inkscape/templates. The pre-installed templates do not give any details other than a title, so they may or may not be suitable for my task. I see that I can create a document and save it to /usr/share/inkscape/templates/ and even overwrite the default.svg. But as a regular user this option is not obvious. When I go to save a file there is no option to save as a template and have the save option default to the appropriate folder. Now that I know I am looking for a custom template, I found the correct reference in the Inkscape manual. As a user I searched the manual for document properties, default settings, etc., and could not find how to change this. From a usability perspective, this could use some rethinking as it has driven me crazy for a long time. As I am a Linux user, I'm not sure how all this works on other platforms.

[Bug 899789] Re: Partial crash when scrolling color palette
Just wanted to add that I am using Xubuntu as my desktop. [Bug 899786] [NEW] inkscape artwork shifted down when printing
Public bug reported: I attempted to print a simple drawing with a box and some text. I setup the drawing with 0.5 inch margins using the guides. Checked the drawing in print preview and the drawing appeared normal. Upon printing, the drawing was shifted down 0.5 inches and the bottom of the drawing is cutoff. A reprint with no adjustment to the drawing produced the same results. Printer is HP5610. Printable area is normally 0.25 inches on sides and top and 0.5 inches on the bottom. [Bug 899789] [NEW] Partial crash when scrolling color palette
Public bug reported: I was working on a simple drawing of a box with text. I selected the box and attempted to scroll the color palette at the bottom of the screen. I had trouble grabbing the scroll button, but eventually was able to grab the scroll button and scroll the palette to the blue shades. I selected a fill color for the box. I then moved back to the drawing area to resize the box. I was unable to deselect by clicking elsewhere on the screen. I could not select any of the tools. It was as if the scrolling of the palette could not release focus back to the drawing area. I could not select a different color fill. The only thing I could do was scroll the color palette and close the program by clicking the X in the top menu bar. I should have been able to scroll the color palette, select the color fill, and return to my drawing. I was able to close the program and reopen and continue working as normal. [Bug 871561] [NEW] evolution add one task, can't add another
Public bug reported: I am using Evolution in Xubuntu 11.04. I was attempting to add tasks to my task list. I was in calendar view with the tasks on the right side of the screen. I clicked in the box that says click to add tasks. I typed my task and hit enter, which is added to my list. I attempted to click in the same box to add another task and I am unable to either click or type in that box. I switched from calendar view to task view and no change. I did shut down evolution and restarted it. I was able to then click in the box and add two tasks before the same behavior returned. I expected to be able to add as many tasks as I wanted. [Bug 657859] Re: Windows shifted and non functional after monitor goes in standby
My current release is Maverick Meerkat. I continue to have problems with screen freezing, etc. I've had to disable all compiz special effects and the screen saver. By doing so, I have no problems. There is some kind of problem with the above video chipset and compiz/opengl but I don't know what it is. As Maverick Meerkat is a long term release and Natty Narwhal is unlikely to support my hardware either, I am inclined to not upgrade as a solution to a problem which has existed off and on since Hardy Heron. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/657859 Title: Windows shifted and non functional after monitor goes in standby To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-screensaver/+bug/657859/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 661925] [NEW] ubuntu reverts to log in screen when power cord is unplugged
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I am using a Gateway netbook, product number: LT 2001 u When switching from power to battery or “suspend” to on, the Ubuntu Netbook remix automatically suspends itself. When pressing the on button, the log-in frame appears. After typing in the first letter of my password, a series of black dots (how typing shows itself when I type in my password) runs for about a 6-7 seconds with out stopping. I can then delete all the dots (text) and type in my password. The log-in reject the password and opens up a new log-in screen. I can then type in my password and everything responds as normal again.
