I think what Jesusfreak was getting at was the fact that Wednesdays
should be written out in default column size. They was it is, you have
to mosify your column spacing in order to be able to see all dates
clearly wich can be a minor annoycance especially for new users.

[Bug 1014398] Re: Kernal panic during VirtualBox session

2012-06-18 Thread Evan Peck
Thank you!
I only found these:

 vboxdrv: Found 8 processor cores.
 vboxdrv: fAsync=0 offMin=0x1e1 offMax=0x169f5
vboxdrv: TSC mode is 'synchronous', kernel timer mode is 'normal'.
vboxdrv: Successfully loaded version 4.1.12_Ubuntu (interface 0x0019).
vboxpci: IOMMU not found (not registered)
warning: `VirtualBox' uses 32-bit capabilities (legacy support in use)
 hrtimer: interrupt took 111669 ns

in the kernal logs that looked suspicious.
The fifth one looks as if it's looking for a MMU (IOMMU).
Hm...

Muchas Gracias!

2012-06-17 Thread Evan Peck
Dante,

Go to:
http://skype.com/intl/en-us/get-skype/on-your-computer/linux/downloading.ubuntu32
and when the Open with dialog comes up, choose Open with then select Ubuntu
Softeware Centre from the list.
Let it download. If Software centre doesn't open after it's done, open it. Look
up Skype and choose install.

HAGS,

[Bug 1010711] Re: Battery not detected under Power Statistics, Battery Indicator not showing in menu bar, and Battery Status setting under Power not sticking

2012-06-14 Thread Evan Peck
Patrick,

Probably not. Omer knows when it's a Unity bug of not (he's a Unity
community hacker). You said it effects both Unity and GNOME Shell, so
that means it's not a bug SPECIFIC to Unity. As I said in #5, it might
be a hardware detection problem, so run:

uname -a uname-a.log

cat /proc/version_signature proc_version_signature.log

sudo lspci -vvnn lspci-vvnn.log (those are 2 v's not a w)

dmesg dmesg.log

and attacht the 4 files it outputs (uname-a.log, proc_version_signature.log,
lspci-vvnn.log, and dmesg.log).
Muchas Gracias!

2012-06-12 Thread Evan Peck
OH GOSH! I just read your apport information again, I missed have missed
the fact that your CPU architecture is AMD64 and Bandwidthd:i386 is a
i386 package. What this means is you have the wrong .Deb. So, delete
bandwidthd.deb and try installing through Synaptic.

miight be non-existant in some situations AKA old Ubuntu versions.

2012-06-11 Thread Evan Peck
OK, I came up with a workaround.

1. Download luciduscfix.tar.gz - see attatched file.
2. Put it in your home folder.
3. Right-click it and Extract here
4. Open a fresh terminal window.
5. cd luciduscfix
6. ./fixit.sh
7. Follow onscreen directions.

There will be some funky errors, don't mind them, it works. Also, if you
are not for-sure experiencing this exact bug, DO NOT use this. Just
don't.

Muchas Gracias!

[Bug 1008309] Re: Can't download purchased Humble Indie Bundle with Ubuntu Software Center

2012-06-08 Thread Evan Peck
Hoderlump,

The APT: protocol is for use with Ubuntu Software Centre. Sice you're on
Kubuntu, and you don't have USC, Firefox couldn't open the link. So, you would
either get USC:
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install software-center
or manually add PPAs(Personal Package Archives) for the Humble Indie Bundle and
download as a secondary solution.
Also, please remember to be kind and courteous to all on Launchpad.
What is this bullshit?? Why do you ubuntu people need to install software via
mouse clicks in a browser? And if you need stuff like that why doesn't it work?
Why is a workaround so complicated?
My personal opinion:
Hay, Ubuntu is free, and we are all volunteers. Yes, there's going to be
problems, deal with it.

Thank you just a little.

[Bug 1010711] Re: Battery not detected under Power Statistics, Battery Indicator not showing in menu bar, and Battery Status setting under Power not sticking

2012-06-08 Thread Evan Peck
Patrick,

Please do not confirm your bugs unless instructed by a triager. I will
leave it as confirmed, tho, as this also effects me and I experience
identical symptoms. Also, I'm not quite sure about your package choice.
It seems that one component of Ubuntu detects our laptops as desktops,
and effects Unity, Gnome-Control-Centre, rather than each individual
program having a seperate bug.

Muchas Gracias!

[Bug 1009873] Re: Brother HL-1670 printer will not print

2012-06-07 Thread Evan Peck
Merle,

The driver for your printer is packaged in Synaptic Package Manager.
Open Synaptic and search for HL-1670N and install both of the programs that it
finds.
If the broken package stops the installation, open a terminal and run this:

sudo apt-get remove name of package

to un-install the broken package.Use the name that shows up in Synaptic.

from plucky @ http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1984331

Also, please run:

apport-collect 1009873

and in the future, just use ubuntu-bug to report bust to avoid all this.

Muchas Gracias!

[Bug 1009816] Re: Firefox comes to front when opening link via external program.

2012-06-06 Thread Evan Peck
Lnxusr,

Are you saying that, want you want is for, say, if I open up a link from
Thunderbird, I won't see Firefox open, but it will open anyway? Is that
the way it was 11.10 and earlier? If you can give an accurate
description of what happens now and what you think should happen, this
can be a feature request (since it's really not a bug), and get taken
care of.

Muchas Gracias!
Evan Peck ;~)

[Bug 992070] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 Hangs at Unlock screen

2012-06-05 Thread Evan Peck
Andrei,

Joseph most likely recommended the Quantal build because that's the future
release. Fore example fixing a Hardy or Jaunty bug right now wouldn't help.
That said, once the bug is fixed in Quantal one of two thing will happen:
A. They will also fix it in Precise
B. People will eventually update their kernal to 3.4-quantal anyway

Thank you!

[Bug 992070] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 hangs after lock screen appears from screen off

2012-06-04 Thread Evan Peck
** Description changed:

- -Even i m having the same problem
+ 1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
+ 2. the behavior you expected, and
+ 3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
+
+ 1. I put in my password so that I can unlock the screen, when coming from
screen off (not from resume or start-up).
+ 2. A dunno TO JUST NOT HANG ? :faceslap:
+ 3. Well it started baking some pancakes and served them right in my freaking
face. :/ It freaking hanged, what else could it possibly do (according to the
bug report title)? It just hanged right after unlocking the screen. Sometimes
the screen doesn't even turn ON so that I can punch in my password. Pff...

[Bug 1008525] Re: gzip -f zips files with .gz suffix, creating file.gz.gz

2012-06-04 Thread Evan Peck
Likewise.

** Description changed:

Create a directory containing a file, for example:

- mkdir d
- touch d/f
+  $ mkdir d
+  $ touch d/f

Now do (yes, running gzip twice):

- gzip -f -r d
- gzip -f -r d
+  $ gzip -f -r d
+  $ gzip -f -r d

Look in the directory and you will find the file a.gz.gz.

+ $ cd d
+ $ ls
+ f.gz.gz
+
This is a change from ubuntu versions before precise pangolin: previously
gzip would
not recompress files ending in .gz when run in this way.
