This icon (keyboard) is not needed for any people. It's a bug. But in 10.04 I was able to remove indicator completely with gconf (yes I use xneur) , but now it not working too... Yes I can confirm that bug is fully resolved (ATI X700) with radeon.modeset=1 kernel parameter. Windows overlap normal with Compiz on and off. Gogle earth has NO artefacts and flickering (with Compiz on!) So, for ATI X700, UXA/DRI2 still not working?
