Re: [Bug 1020171] Re: package cups 1.5.3-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 127

2012-07-03 Thread Ezio Ostorero
Thanks Till.

Former installation was a blunder, tons of bug reports were
generated, mostly with aptd.

So I dumped it and restarted from scratch, now it works.

   Cheers,

 Ezio

 Your terminal log contains:

 /var/lib/dpkg/info/cups.postinst: 180: /var/lib/dpkg/info/cups.postinst:
 invoke-rc.d: not found

Make sure the file /usr/sbin/invoke-rc.d is on your system and OK. It
belongs to the sysv-rc package. Make sure the package is installed

 sudo apt-get install sysv-rc

and that no file of it is damaged:

 sudo apt-get install --reinstall sysv-rc

If all this is OK, follow the instructions of the section Problems
 installing the CUPS package on
 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems. Thanks.
