[Bug 1168961] [NEW] Linux kernel 3.2.0-40-generic update causes regression, does not boot anymore
Public bug reported: The latest kernel update caused a regression on my Samsung R60plus notebook. The system refuses to boot like it did before, the screen just stays black after the bios messages. Workaround: When I press Ctrl+Alt+Del the system does reboot and the Grub menu is shown, I can then just press Enter (booting the latest kernel 3.2.0-40-generic) and the system boots fine. It is just a problem with the instant booting without entering the grub menu before. The problem also disappears when I manually set GRUB_DEFAULT=2 in /etc/default/grub, setting the standard kernel back to 3.2.0-39-generic. [Bug 226885] Re: rdesktop not compiled with smartcard support
I can confirm that the following steps fix this problem: 1.) wget http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/r/rdesktop/rdesktop_1.7.1-1_amd64.deb 2.) sudo dpkg -i http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/r/rdesktop/rdesktop_1.7.1-1_amd64.deb 3.) sudo apt-get install pcscd 4.) Edit /etc/init.d/pcscd and comment out line exit 0 5.) sudo /etc/init.d/pcscd restart ** Tags added: patch precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/226885 Title: rdesktop not compiled with smartcard support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rdesktop/+bug/226885/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
