+ The problem occurred on the Unity Launcher where you can't know for sure
+ if the application is running or if it is just a shortcut.

Since some minutes ago, Unity lost track of the running instance of my
web browser (Chromium, I am using it right now). Every time I click on
Chromium's icon I get a new instance instead of the running one. If I
minimize any Chromium windows, the only way to reach them back is
through Alt + Tab, since clicking the icon will give me a new window, as
  if it were not running.

I would expect that clicking on the icon of the running application, it
would restore the existing window instead of creating a new one, like
what is happening right now with the other program I am using.

I don't know what made Unity lose track of Chromium, and I don't know
  how to reproduce the problem.

2011-05-08 Thread Mohsin Falak
Clicking on the running app shortcut on the Unity Launcher should not open a
new window.
Moreover, a running app on the Unity Launcher is indicated by an arrow on the
left side of the icon. (as shown in the attached image) and a running app can
always be restored by pressing and holding the Super-Key and pressing the
displayed desired app number on the Unity Launcher.

[Bug 771389] Re: Unity Launcher hides regardless of mouse position.

2011-05-07 Thread Mohsin Falak
Would you kindly attach a screen cast of the bug you're facing, it will
certainly be helpful for the developers to properly understand the bug.
Moreover, could you kindly tell us the Ubuntu version you've currently
installed.
Moreover, it is by design that if another application is covering the area of
the Unity Launcher, then by popping the Launcher and moving the mouse pointer
away will certainly hide the Launcher. If we keep the pointer on the Launcher
it certainly won't hide.

[Bug 771672] Re: Alt+F2 cannot find system setting items

2011-05-07 Thread Mohsin Falak
Actually this is by design. You can't find/open setting, screensaver etc. by
pressing Alt-F2 because it is used only to run commands. You can always use
Dash (Single press of Super-Key) for finding files and settings etc.
So, for now i'm marking this bug as Invalid. Thanks

[Bug 770325] Re: Missing search delete Icon on dash

2011-05-07 Thread Mohsin Falak
It appears after you type something in the Search Bar. This is by design and is
not a bug.
Moreover, you can always attach a file (image, video etc.) in the field
provided while reporting a bug.
Feel free to report any bugs you may find. Thanks

[Bug 772503] Re: Feature request: I miss a quick shortcut to the system settings menu

2011-05-07 Thread Mohsin Falak
You can always search and open System Settings in Dash (by pressing the
Super-Key) and can also add that System Setting icon into the Unity Launcher by
dragging it.
Check the attached Screen Cast for further info. Thanks

Hope this will help http://askubuntu.com/search?q=change+super+key
Moreover, i have changed the status of the bug so anyone with a keen approach
to the specific matter may help. The change in functionality of keyboard keys

[Bug 763156] Re: Cannot change functionality of the Super-Key

2011-05-03 Thread Mohsin Falak
The Super-Key in Ubuntu (specially in the new Unity Interface) performs variety
of specific tasks like
1. Holding the Super-Key pops the Unity Launcher and let users to interact with
various icons by specifying numbers and alphabets as shortcuts.
2. Pressing the Super-Key (without holding) brings up the Dash to search and
open various applications and files etc.
3.Pressing Super-Key + D Shows the desktop.
These are some of the specific functions of the Super-Key which cannot be
replaced. Hope it helps, Thanks.

Even the behavior of the AppMenu in Workspace Switcher Mode is not the
same as in Normal Mode. In Normal, we click on a single app indicator,
then by simply hovering over other indicators automatically open them.
But they won't open like that in Workspace Switcher Mode.

[Bug 764760] [NEW] Drag-Drop Behavior. Unity Launcher.

2011-04-18 Thread Mohsin Falak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

First of all, the Drag-Drop behavior on Unity Launcher is random, sometimes the
files won't even open.
The main bug is, when we Drag-Drop a file (e.g Video File) on an application
icon (e.g Totem) the file opens but the application remains out of focus.
FIX: The application must take focus when a file is drag-opened by the Unity
Launcher.

It seems that you're not pressing the keys in the right way. The way you are

Hold the Super-key and then while holding it press D. It works fine this way.

Not for me. Takes the same amount of time both ways. Besides, it takes
longer to move the pointer to the specific location.

[Bug 753938] Re: Open Trash window prevents launching Home folder from launch bar in Unity

2011-04-15 Thread Mohsin Falak
This seems to be the actual design of the File Browser. Because Trash is
already opened in the File Browser. So, another browser cannot be opened.
The bug over here seems to be that when we press the Home Folder Icon (trash
already opened) the File Browser must now show the Home Folder Contents.

[Bug 753064] Re: Window title dissapears when mouse moves over it in fullscreen; re-appears on click

2011-04-14 Thread Mohsin Falak
This seems the actual design of the title bar. Hovering the mouse pointer over
the title bar actually shows the Main-Menu of the current Window/Application.
But in your case it seems the like if there is no Main-Menu available of your
current Window/Application (like in Chrome (but fixed now), it didn't show any
menu and moving away showed the title).
Could you please attach a screen cast or at least a screenshot of the bug.
Which would really help to understand this bug more efficiently. Thanks.

[Bug 758242] Re: Unity super+d shortcut behaves differenly depending on speed of keypresses

2011-04-14 Thread Mohsin Falak
This bug affects me as well. Though it's never been that much of an issue since
i got to this bug and tried to reproduce it myself.
Yeah, Super + S is perfect, no Dash opens. Same behavior must be with other
Super-Key shortcuts as well.

[Bug 758009] Re: Can not close dash by clicking mouse on folded shortcuts area

2011-04-14 Thread Mohsin Falak
This seems more like an opinion to me. Because the Dash, by design,
covers the whole screen, even if the shortcut menu is folded. The Dash
must only cover of half the screen when the shortcut menu is folded.
Then by clicking the background (other than dash) closes the Dash.

[Bug 681348] Re: Add show me the desktop keyboard or Unity dock shortcut

2011-04-13 Thread Mohsin Falak
Super + D is working perfectly in the Natty Narwhal Beta.
what i would like to recommend was if we place the mouse pointer on the
Ubuntu-button (for a second) it should make all windows transparent.
But, it would be better to place a small button on the extreme upper-left
corner of the screen, near the Ubuntu-button. Which by clinking on it shows the
desktop and by simply putting the pointer on (for a second) makes all the
windows transparent. This will surely look better and would be more comfortable.

[Bug 756749] [NEW] Super-key HOLD shortcut bug (Unity Launcher)

2011-04-10 Thread Mohsin Falak
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: unity

The behavior is random.
Sometimes it occurs when a running application is minimized, then (without
interfering with any other app) it can't be maximized via the launcher (by
holding the Super-Key and pressing the desired application number) it won't
even show the number of that application. It can only be directly accessed by
the mouse.
And sometimes interfering with the particular app (o any other app) won't take
any effect and the shortcut won't work.

[Bug 755260] Re: We should use AMD instead of ATI .

2011-04-09 Thread Mohsin Falak
ATI Technologies Inc, was a major designer and supplier of graphics
processing units and motherboard chipsets. In 2006, the company was
acquired by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and was renamed to the AMD
Graphics Products group. Despite the acquisition, the ATI brand was
retained for graphics cards until August 30, 2010. AMD retired the ATI
name and instead brand its graphics chipsets as AMD beginning in late
2010. So, the old chips and driver architecture is still being named as
ATI

[Bug 755134] Re: Ubuntu one sync takes too long for 2 small files

2011-04-09 Thread Mohsin Falak
Thanks for the bug report. It seems that the file you have uploaded is
having a problem with the infrastructure of ubuntu 1, alarmingly
increasing the size of the file. Which eventually leads to late syncing.
For now it is recommended that you make changes to the file on your
computer and then sync it to the cloud.

[Bug 747516] Re: pressing super doesn't open dash if an indicator is being viewed

2011-04-09 Thread Mohsin Falak
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: unity

  To reproduce:
- - Press Super
- - No Dash appears
+ - Click on the indicator
+  - Press Super
+  - No Dash appears

Also all of the other Unity Super shortcuts do not work.

I imagine the desired behaviour is for any Unity dash shortcuts to close
an open indicator and then perform the desired action.

[Bug 748897] Re: Consider a two-phase time-based reveal of the launcher based on time hovering over the BFB

This seems inappropriate. The new design is perfect. It would be
irritating if only by hovering the mouse over the ubuntu button pops the
launcher. But the times based popping of the launcher (like half a
second) could feel better.
