F-Spot, since F-Spot is no longer the default photo manager, this should

[Bug 646086] [NEW] Erratic behavior in AWN terminal

2010-09-23 Thread Federico Vera
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: avant-window-navigator

In the latest Maverick, the AWN terminal plugin does't act as it's supposed to,
for instance:
* If you enter 'clear' the result is 'TERM environment variable not set.'
* When trying to open something with 'nano' the result is 'Error opening
terminal: unknown.'.

I test this in three separate Maverick installations and the result was
the same on all of them. (In case there's any difference, all of them
were 64bit pcs)

one string in line 134 that isn't translated at all (perhaps because of

[Bug 591577] Re: Applications in second display are hidden when accessing the menu

2010-08-30 Thread Federico Vera
I *believe* that the reason is the following: seeing as applications running in
the UNR environment are always maximized (by default) and that the Netbook
launcher works on fullscreen, the only way the the system has to show (send to
the top layer) the launcher when asked is by ignoring the 'always on top' flag
of every other window.
The problem is that (A) it doesn't know that the other windows are in different
displays and that they should not be touched OR (B) the launcher assumes that
it is present in all of the displays, either way it doesn't work as one would
expect.

@Jani Uusitalo If it helps, I work a lot with the netbook and a
projector (second display) and the classic Ubuntu desktop did the trick
for me. (That was the only workaround I found)

[Bug 591577] [NEW] Applications in second display are hidden when accessing the menu

2010-06-08 Thread Federico Vera
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: netbook-launcher

I have an Acer Aspire One, and started working with two displays.
Every time I access the main launcher screen (clicking in the upper left corner
on the Ubuntu logo), all the applications that are positioned in the second
display disappear even if Always on top is activated.
I been using UNR for a while now, and know that this is the expected behavior
for applications in one display, but I believe that that shouldn't happen when
working with two displays...

Note: In the meantime if someone knows a workaround for this, it would
be highly appreciated.

[Bug 568041] Re: [Lucid] Upgrade from Karmic broke nVidia installation on cdrom only upgrade (without network)

2010-04-26 Thread Federico Vera
It might be a good idea to warn the users about this, after all nouveau
kicks in and everything works fine, but one might expect the proprietary
driver working.

What does seem weired (to me) is that all the other times that I
upgraded using the alternate cd, connected to the internet (I need to do
this because there are two upgrade tests and I have a slow inet
connection[1]), the proprietary driver was perfectly loaded.

[1] just to clarify, this is my upgrade mantra:
zsync the latest alternate daily built
burn it
install karmic - upgrade karmic
perform the upgrade test1 (connected to the internet)
install karmic - upgrade karmic
perform the upgrade test2 (connected to the internet)
use burned cd as a frisbee

[Bug 568041] [NEW] [Lucid] Upgrade from Karmic broke nVidia installation

2010-04-21 Thread Federico Vera
Public bug reported:

In order to perform the upgrade test of the XOrg Team[1].
I made a clean installation of Karmic, load the proprietary drivers and then
upgraded using today's daily build of Lucid Alternate CD. After rebooting the
proprietary driver was no longer installed (steps 11 and forward of the test
case).

Some notes:
* Nouveau started without any issue, and no error messages where displayed
after reboot.
* I encounter bug #562328 after rebooting (with no error message, jockey-gtk
just won't start).
* Up until two weeks ago the outcome of the upgrade was just as the test case
stated

[Bug 552843] [NEW] [Lucid] Ubuntu one preferences's window is too big for UNR

2010-03-31 Thread Federico Vera
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

The Ubuntu One preferences's window it is too big to fit in the screen,
and it is not resizable so there's not much to do. Considering that
Ubuntu One is a Canonical product it should work seemlessly with
official Ubuntu distributions.

To reproduce this bug is neccessary to have multiple computers
synchonized with one Ubuntu One account (the window's size is adjusted
to the number of accounts).

conditional statement ('if' in english), only 'Si' ('yes' in english).

@Santiago yeahp that's what I ment (my bad). You are right, I haven't
consider that option, why not use just 'S' or 's' so as to avoid

[Bug 522328] Re: [Test xpr-008] Lucid upgrade broke when upgrading from manually installed nvidia proprietary drivers

2010-03-21 Thread Federico Vera
Robert, thanks for the update!

I thought that that should be the expected behaviour (as I stated in
comment #6), nonetheless that was not what originally happened (at first
nouveau didn't kick in, and it was necessary to manually modify the
xorg.conf file, as you see in comment #7).

It might be good to change the expected result of the test in the Xorg
Testing wiki to avoid the confusion, after all we testers only report
against that which is written.

Cheers!

[Bug 522328] Re: Lucid upgrade broke nvidia proprietary drivers

2010-03-03 Thread Federico Vera
Hi there! sorry for the delay, it's exam time here...
Your interpretation was correct, that's precisely what I did. I test it today
(again) and the result is the same. I believe that the expected behaviour
should be falling back to nouveau instead of using the proprietary driver as I
stated in the bug description. But of course that's not for me to decide =P

[Bug 489345] [NEW] FIX Spanish Localization

2009-11-27 Thread Federico Vera
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus-wallpaper

The Set as wallpaper... entry is not translated I know it's just one line,
but it doesn't look good when using a Spanish desktop.
I assume this file must to go upstream, but I wasn't able to find where
'upstream' is for this particular package.
I attach the po file, I appreciate if someone could submit it, or give me
directions as were to send it.

[Bug 428373] Re: window stays gray on latest karmic

2009-09-25 Thread Federico Vera
Did you try resizing the game window? I've realized that in the netbook-remix
version it works fine, but in the classic ubuntu desktop it's necessary to
change the window size in order to make the game appear.
No idea how to fix it though... but it would be nice to at least find a
definite workaround to the problem.

[Bug 336789] Re: Jaunty: Netbook-remix Confusion for new users with them thinking their device has a touchscreen

2009-08-23 Thread Federico Vera
Yeahp I agree, something similar must be done with the bluetooth icon
(or at least make it appear only if bluetooth actually exist in the
pc)... I usually remove them, but last week I forgot to do so in an acer
aspire one... it was awful I spend almost 1 hour (YES one hour) trying
to explain to the owner (my dad=) that the pc has no bluetooth... (I'm
pretty sure he didn't believe me...)
