[Bug 1172907] Re: CJK characters displaying as blocks

2013-07-09 Thread Feistybird
Simple Workaround:

1. Go Tools = Options = Interfaces (tab)
2. click Select List Fonts (button),
3. At the Script drop-down-menu , choose your preferred encoding : Big5/GB
etc..
4. In the Font List : set any supported CJK fonts.

[Bug 1172907] Re: CJK characters displaying as blocks

2013-07-09 Thread Feistybird
Simple Workaround :

sudo gedit /etc/fonts/conf.d/49-sansserif.conf

edit name=family mode=append_last
stringsans-serif/string change
this font to a CJK font such as WenQuanYi Zen Hei

Or simply delete this file /etc/fonts/conf.d/49-sansserif.conf

As for the database fonts, it can be configured to a proper CJK font in
options: interfaces: fonts (see attached)

I don't have any ext4 soft-lock-up problems using Ubuntu mainline kernel
2.6.29 and 2.6.30 netiher

[Bug 252094] Re: MASTER: Poor graphics performance on Intel

2009-04-08 Thread Feistybird
The bug below has been fixed in the most recent patch (xserver-xorg-
video-intel 2:2.6.3-0ubuntu8)

Some users of Intel i8x5 video chipsets are unable to load X, getting
an error message of Fatal server error: Couldn't bind memory for BO
front buffer. As a workaround, use the VESA driver by logging into a
text console, running sudo nano /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and adding the
line Driver vesa to the Device section. An alternative (experimental)
workaround is to use the UXA acceleration method (see below). If in
doubt, please do not upgrade to Ubuntu 9.04 Beta yet. 304871 [

Thank you VERY MUCH for your hard work!

However, there are still some other problems probably related to this
performance issue; the graphic rendering in some of the java-applet
web pages are broken. Please refer to the attached screenshots.

Some people suggested similar workaround as what bbauto's suggested, and

[Bug 152107] Re: users-admin doesn't add admin users to lpadmin

2008-05-02 Thread Feistybird

I think I've my problem solved.

The 'Unlock' button worked if I just type 'users-admin' in the terminal,
(without sudo or gksu in front of the command)

Then I checked my 'users-admin' launcher setting in the alacarte menu
editor, the command was 'gksu users-admin', so I simply delete the
'gksu', and it worked properly without 'gksu'

I guess it could be caused by my previous installation of 8.04 Release
Candidate version, it left the old launcher setting in my home
directory, so even I made a clean install of the formal 8.04 release
later, the menu still uses the old setting (gksu users-admin) of my home
directory.

However, same file installs the java 1.4.2_04 properly on my Ubuntu 7.10
without any problems.

Also, the java 1.4.2_***16 *** can be successfully installed in my
Ubuntu 8.04 beta, only the version 1.4.2.04 has such problem.

Java 1.4.2.04 is very important for the enterprise ERP/ERM applications,
as the Oracle Form Server 10 Form Developer MUST use this java
version!

Any ideas?

Thanks!

[Bug 112504] Re: gnome-network domain name is not keeping after reboot

2007-05-25 Thread Feistybird
Is there any other way to temporary fix this problem?

I also tried to lock /etc/hosts by chattr +i /etc/hosts, but the
network-manager's domain name and other saved setting still gets
disappeared after reboot interface restart.

Please advise as to which config file should I lock?

Thanks a lot!

[Bug 43589] Re: [totem-gstreamer] wont play vcd for unknown reason

2007-04-24 Thread Feistybird
I'm using Fesity, I can't play (s)vcds with totem-gstreamer, totem-xine,
gxine, and (G)mplayer/Kmplayer.

totem-xine error: vcd:///media/cdrom0′ There is no input plugin to handle the
location of this movie
gxine error: segment fault. (and crashed)
mplayer error: Error opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) device.

So far only mplayer vcd://2 works.

Another problem is that ubuntu detects the VCD, mounts automatically to
right path (/media/cdromX), but there is no desktop icon appears, and I
can't 'eject' the device unless typing commands.

gxine used to work with my previous 6.10 to play (S)VCDs, but not any
more after the recent upgrade to Feisty.

Thanks.
