[Bug 1943289] Re: marco crashed with signal 5 in _XReadEvents()

[Bug 2034752] Re: broken with newer java
Dear users, I am the current author of the (orphaned since years) freeplane package for Debian. Indeed, the freeplane-1.7.x in Debian does not work with recent java. I cannot fix this because the version of gradle (build tool) in Debian/Ubuntu is way too old to build freeplane-1.11.x (needs gradle 7.x). However, you can download the .deb version that upstream provides: - https://sourceforge.net/projects/freeplane/ - select "Files" - select "freeplane stable" - select freeplane_1.11.11~upstream-1_all.deb - install with "sudo apt install /path/to/freeplane_1.11.11~upstream-1_all.deb" Note this bug related to ibus: https://github.com/freeplane/freeplane/issues/1069 You can also, as the reporter noted, switch to an old JRE (mind security issues though!), either through JAVA_CMD or FREEPLANE_JAVA_HOME. I will discuss with the debian-java team whether to remove freeplane from Debian/Ubuntu for security reasons (old JRE versions...), unless you disagree strongly! [Bug 1961546] Re: init freezes when >1 display connected on rocket lake PC
Original problem continues with kernel 5.15.0-23, but there is more than a screenful of fb output in what appears to be 1024x768 mode before lockup on switch to i915. [Bug 1961546] Re: init freezes when >1 display connected on rocket lake PC
Problem is worse with kernel 5.15.0-22, while in distros providing 5.16.11+ and 5.17 kernels the problem is gone. Now in 5.15.0-22, no video ever shows up after the Grub selection is made. [Bug 1962789] [NEW] e2fsck crashes with Signal (11) SIGSEGV when using undo-file
Public bug reported: The behavior is reproducable on 18.04 and 20.04 LTS with the following versions of e2fsck: * e2fsck 1.44.1 (24-Mar-2018) * e2fsck 1.45.5 (07-Jan-2020) Expected behavior occurs when: * Running e2fsck as a dry run does work fine: It does find quite a few errors and then completes execution normally * Running e2fsck "normally" (without an undo-file) works also fine - but I aborted execution at the first error it found (I want to use the undo file). The error occurs reproducable when I specify an undo-file. The error occurs on Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04 as well. The stack trace (see below) is identical when I repeat the execution. As someone guessed that a lack of RAM might cause this I also observed the process in top: It shows e2fsck running with 100% CPU and ~1% of RAM for a few seconds, then it terminates with Signal (11). Stacktrace with Ubuntu 18.04: # e2fsck -v -z /root/e2fsck.undo_2022-03-01_15.00 /dev/mapper/md125_crypt e2fsck 1.44.1 (24-Mar-2018) Overwriting existing filesystem; this can be undone using the command: e2undo /root/e2fsck.undo_2022-03-01_15.00 /dev/mapper/md125_crypt ext2fs_check_desc: Corrupt group descriptor: bad block for block bitmap e2fsck: Group descriptors look bad... trying backup blocks... [Bug 1878279] Re: MSFT0004:00 06CB:CD98 Touchpad/trackpad mouse randomly not recognized from any given boot
Thank you for your response. I did in fact load and reboot with BIOS defaults multiple times while trying out different settings without success. After many trials and errors I am currently running BIOS 1.06 with mainline kernel 5.10 and everything is working fine (without GRUB parameters). Even though my understanding of this issue is superficial at best, my suspicion is that Windows dual boot might be interfering even with disabled fast boot. So one of the things I tried was a forced Windows shutdown with "shutdown /s /f /t 0". This seemed to resolve my issue but it's entirely speculative. Since I do need this laptop for work from time to time, I am hestitant to try updating the BIOS again and see if I can get the latest version running. [Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%
Just a small contribution from my side: the bug is not fixed despite all the latest updates. I'm having a Quadro K5200 with proprietary drivers v440.100 on Ubuntu 20.04 and both fractional scaling (on one monitor) and normal/fractional scaling on multiple monitors with different scaling are broken. I tried with the latest driver from the ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa repository, no help there. I confirm that scaling is working with the nouveau driver, but this is not a solution for me since I need features like CUDA, opencl or compatibility with VMWare 3D acceleration. No luck with all 3 ways to set the scaling: Gnome control center, xrandr or nvidia-settings. Hi, when will the next cycle be? For sound problems : In /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf change "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" by "options snd-hda-intel model=generic" seems to reactivate the sound on the computer (this does not work for headphones, on Dell Inspiron 5379) A quick fix, it allows to not revert the kernel. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1875916 Title: upgrading to 4.15.0-99-generic breaks the sound and the trackpad To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1875916/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
