[Bug 1943289] Re: marco crashed with signal 5 in _XReadEvents()

2024-05-18 Thread Felix Natter
Could we work around this by choosing another mate WM / marco variant
(Mate Tweak in preferences; i.e. one with compositing)?

Could someone please test whether that works / does not work?

Thanks and Best Regards,
Felix

[Bug 2034752] Re: broken with newer java

2024-03-31 Thread Felix Natter
Dear users,

I am the current author of the (orphaned since years) freeplane package
for Debian. Indeed, the freeplane-1.7.x in Debian does not work with
recent java. I cannot fix this because the version of gradle (build tool)
in Debian/Ubuntu is way too old to build freeplane-1.11.x (needs gradle
7.x).

However, you can download the .deb version that upstream provides:
- select "Files"
- select "freeplane stable"
- select freeplane_1.11.11~upstream-1_all.deb
- install with "sudo apt install /path/to/freeplane_1.11.11~upstream-1_all.deb"

Note this bug related to ibus:
https://github.com/freeplane/freeplane/issues/1069

You can also, as the reporter noted, switch to an old JRE (mind security issues
though!), either through JAVA_CMD or FREEPLANE_JAVA_HOME.

I will discuss with the debian-java team whether to remove freeplane from
Debian/Ubuntu
for security reasons (old JRE versions...), unless you disagree strongly!

Best Regards,
Felix

[Bug 2024937]

2024-03-15 Thread Felix-niederwanger
As a workaround,
https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1088564#c7 worked for me:

> mkdir -p ~/.config/plasma-workspace/env/ksshagt.sh
> vim ~/.config/plasma-workspace/env/ksshagt.sh
>
> if [ -z "$SSH_AUTH_SOCK" ] ; then
> eval `ssh-agent -s`
> fi

And then after logging in, a simple `ssh-add` makes you insert the
passphrase once and you're good to go.

[Bug 1967121] Re: Dock auto-hides when a right click context menu is opened while a window is under the dock

2022-05-16 Thread Felix T
Apologies for the bad description. I'm talking about a situation with
multiple open windows of the same application. When I left click the
application to show the window previews, the same behavior as described
in this ticket occurs on about half the attempts to select a window. I
attached a screen recording.

More context: The recording was made with a multi monitor setup. In a
single monitor setup, I cannot reproduce this behavior on the same
machine right now.

[Bug 1967121] Re: Dock auto-hides when a right click context menu is opened while a window is under the dock

2022-05-13 Thread Felix T
Thank you for the patch. This seems to fix the right click menu.
However, using the window switcher from left click is still broken
because the dock auto-hides in that state, causing the same issue.

[Bug 1967624] Re: zsysd fails with "index out of range" go-libzfs (*Pool).ReloadProperties

2022-04-02 Thread Felix
** Description changed:

  Good day,
today during upgrading my system running 22.04 (dev branch) with apt, I
noticed error messages relating to problems contacting the zsys daemon. I then
checked the status and found the below log lines with journalctl. A reboot
after updating has not fixed the problem, the daemon is still not starting
(same stacktrace).
+
+ -> Note: during above mentioned upgrade, the package was updated from
+ 0.5.8build1 -> 0.5.8build2.
+
+ EDIT 2022-04-02: Manually downloading the "old" build 0.5.8build1 from
+ https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/impish/amd64/zsys/0.5.8build1 fixes the
+ problem.

[Bug 1967624] [NEW] zsysd fails with "index out of range" go-libzfs (*Pool).ReloadProperties

2022-04-02 Thread Felix
Public bug reported:

Good day,
today during upgrading my system running 22.04 (dev branch) with apt, I noticed
error messages relating to problems contacting the zsys daemon. I then checked
the status and found the below log lines with journalctl. A reboot after
updating has not fixed the problem, the daemon is still not starting (same
stacktrace).

[Bug 1961546] Re: init freezes when >1 display connected on rocket lake PC

2022-03-30 Thread Felix Miata
Original problem continues with kernel 5.15.0-23, but there is more than
a screenful of fb output in what appears to be 1024x768 mode before
lockup on switch to i915. Xorg is working normally with only one
connected display.

[Bug 1962789] Re: e2fsck crashes with Signal (11) SIGSEGV when using undo-file

2022-03-20 Thread Felix E
A brief update:

I can also reproducee the crash on Ubuntu 21.10 / e2fsck 1.46.3:

# e2fsck -v -z e2fsck.undofile.2022-03-20 /dev/mapper/md125_crypt
e2fsck 1.46.3 (27-Jul-2021)
Overwriting existing filesystem; this can be undone using the command:
e2undo e2fsck.undofile.2022-03-20 /dev/mapper/md125_crypt

ext2fs_check_desc: Corrupt group descriptor: bad block for block bitmap
e2fsck: Group descriptors look bad... trying backup blocks...
Signal (11) SIGSEGV si_code=SEGV_MAPERR fault addr=0x178
e2fsck(+0x31e3e)[0x55deba41ce3e]

/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libext2fs.so.2(ext2fs_close_free+0x1a)[0x7fc444e59bba]

e2fsck(_start+0x25)[0x55deba3feff5]

If I run "e2fsck -v /dev/mapper/md125_crypt" (without -z), e2fsck 1.46.3
does not crash.

[Bug 1961546] Re: init freezes when >1 display connected on rocket lake PC

2022-03-16 Thread Felix Miata
Problem is worse with kernel 5.15.0-22, while in distros providing
5.16.11+ and 5.17 kernels the problem is gone. Now in 5.15.0-22, no
video ever shows up after the Grub selection is made. The PC apparently
hard locks immediately with black screen when two displays are
connected, even when only one is powered on.

[Bug 1962789] [NEW] e2fsck crashes with Signal (11) SIGSEGV when using undo-file

2022-03-02 Thread Felix E
Public bug reported:

The behavior is reproducable on 18.04 and 20.04 LTS with the following versions
of e2fsck:
* e2fsck 1.44.1 (24-Mar-2018)
* e2fsck 1.45.5 (07-Jan-2020)

Expected behavior occurs when:
* Running e2fsck as a dry run does work fine: It does find quite a few errors
and then completes execution normally
* Running e2fsck "normally" (without an undo-file) works also fine - but I
aborted execution at the first error it found (I want to use the undo file).

The error occurs reproducable when I specify an undo-file.
The error occurs on Ubuntu 18.04 and 20.04 as well.
The stack trace (see below) is identical when I repeat the execution.

As someone guessed that a lack of RAM might cause this I also observed
the process in top: It shows e2fsck running with 100% CPU and ~1% of RAM
for a few seconds, then it terminates with Signal (11).

Stacktrace with Ubuntu 18.04:

# e2fsck -v -z /root/e2fsck.undo_2022-03-01_15.00 /dev/mapper/md125_crypt

Stacktrace with Ubuntu 20.04 (I did an dist-upgrade from 18 to 20 in the hope
that this issue might have been fixed there..):

Background-Info:
On 18.04:
A filesystem with ~66 TB was to be resized (resize2fs) to ~77TB.
Unfortunately I shut down the box while the resize was still running by
accident (don't ask...)
After booting up again a run of e2fsck found and fixed some errors (a few Block
bitmap differences and one occurrence of free block count and free inodes
counts each.
A second run of e2fsck came clean.
The files inside the filesystem were fine (I had a sfv-file for a major part of
the data inside).
Then I started resize2fs again, as the FS had only grown to ~70 TB so far.
Now i got a myriad of errors like
> Illegal block number passed to ext2fs_mark_block_bitmap #17446378287038201972
> for copy of block bitmap for /dev
and possibly other errors as well which had scrolled outside of my screen.
Then it finally completed with
> The filesystem on /dev/mapper/md125_crypt is now 20507814912 (4k) blocks long.

Now I'm trying to fix things but as I get errors like
> Inode table for group 585696 is not in group. (block 17480552796351627264)
> WARNING: SEVERE DATA LOSS POSSIBLE.
> Relocate?
I really would prefer to proceed with an undo-file now.

[Bug 1953325] [NEW] Upcoming End of Life in January 2022

2021-12-06 Thread Felix Paetow
Public bug reported:

Hello,

the rabbitmq-server package version included in Ubuntu 20.04 will reach its end
of life in January 2022. From then on, only RabbitMQ 3.9 will be officially
supported by the RabbitMQ company.
https://www.rabbitmq.com/versions.html

I do not know, how Canonical will continue to provide fixes when the
mainline is out of support. I am sure there is a strategy for cases like
that. Just want to raise attention for this issue and would like to get
the strategy explained, so I could give it to my customer for whom I
currently do an installation.

Thank you in advance and also for your great work.

Best Regards,
Felix

[Bug 1941927] [NEW] Update libpmix-dev on Ubuntu 21.10

2021-08-27 Thread Felix Abecassis
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 21.10 ships the following version of libpmix-dev:
$ apt-cache madison libpmix-dev
libpmix-dev | 4.0.0-4.1ubuntu1 | http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu
impish/universe amd64 Packages

The pmix.h header is in a non-standard path:
$ dpkg -L libpmix-dev | grep 'pmix\.h'
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pmix2/include/pmix.h

But pmix.pc provided by libpmix-dev does not use those paths:
# pkg-config --cflags --libs pmix
-lpmix -lhwloc -levent -lz

This is fixed on Debian sid:
$ apt-cache madison libpmix-dev
libpmix-dev |4.1.0-3 | http://deb.debian.org/debian sid/main amd64 Packages

$ pkg-config --cflags --libs pmix
-I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pmix2/include -L/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pmix2/lib
-lpmix -lhwloc -levent -lz

According to https://metadata.ftp-
master.debian.org/changelogs//main/p/pmix/pmix_4.1.0-3_changelog, looks
like it was fixed in 4.1.0~rc1-1:

pmix (4.1.0~rc1-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * Fix prefix to ensure locations correct for pmix.pc

[Bug 1937131] Re: produces invalid musexml and lilypond output

2021-07-22 Thread Ted Felix
Thanks for the bug report. I'm going to do a little analysis and move
this over to upstream's bug tracker.

https://sourceforge.net/p/rosegarden/bugs/

I will post a followup with the bug number.

It's not likely we'll get around to fixing this anytime soon as we
barely have the equivalent of one full-time developer working on the
project.

[Bug 1917142] [NEW] Thunderbird Task "Show" filtering broken

2021-02-27 Thread Ted Felix
Public bug reported:

Thunderbird in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS was just upgraded to 78.7.1.
Unfortunately, that version has a bug which renders Tasks unusable for
those of us who depend on recurring tasks. Completed tasks keep coming
back to life on restart of Thunderbird. This results in incessant
reminders for tasks that were completed months and months ago.

The upstream bug report is here:

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1686466

Bug 1686466: Task "Show" filtering broken in 78.6.1 - recurring tasks
are all being marked incomplete

Thunderbird version 78.8.0 has the fix. Hopefully an upgrade to that
version can be expedited.

[Bug 1878279] Re: MSFT0004:00 06CB:CD98 Touchpad/trackpad mouse randomly not recognized from any given boot

2021-02-19 Thread Felix T
Thank you for your response. I did in fact load and reboot with BIOS
defaults multiple times while trying out different settings without
success.

After many trials and errors I am currently running BIOS 1.06 with
mainline kernel 5.10 and everything is working fine (without GRUB
parameters).

Even though my understanding of this issue is superficial at best, my
suspicion is that Windows dual boot might be interfering even with
disabled fast boot. So one of the things I tried was a forced Windows
shutdown with "shutdown /s /f /t 0". This seemed to resolve my issue but
it's entirely speculative.

Since I do need this laptop for work from time to time, I am hestitant
to try updating the BIOS again and see if I can get the latest version
running.

I hope this is helpful in any way.

Touchpad stopped working for me after updating BIOS to latest version

I stumbled across these messages in dmesg, but I can't tell if this has

[Bug 1909026] [NEW] Ubuntu 20.04 and 20.10 package out of date

2020-12-22 Thread Felix Hune
Public bug reported:

I noticed that the geany package in 20.04 and 20.10 is out of date.

I noticed this because I found some configurations in the configuration
files that aren't up to date with the version found in the geany github
repository.

The last version for 20.04 Focal Fossa is 1.36-1build1 (released

[Bug 1907808] [NEW] my mouse isnt alway working

2020-12-11 Thread Felix Semler
Public bug reported:

I am using a macbook pro for this ubuntu distro on a 61 gb partition.
I realize macbooks are terrible for linux however I felt like giving it a try,
the trackpad was working on some start ups but seems not to be anymore at all.
I saw online that reporting this issue is possible from terminal, so i figured
it would be the correct thing to do.
Anyway I shall try to find a solution now

[Bug 1870736] Re: [nvidia] Screen scaling 125% gives 200%

2020-09-22 Thread Felix Raynaud
Just a small contribution from my side: the bug is not fixed despite all
the latest updates. I'm having a Quadro K5200 with proprietary drivers
v440.100 on Ubuntu 20.04 and both fractional scaling (on one monitor)
and normal/fractional scaling on multiple monitors with different
scaling are broken.

I tried with the latest driver from the ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
repository, no help there. I confirm that scaling is working with the
nouveau driver, but this is not a solution for me since I need features
like CUDA, opencl or compatibility with VMWare 3D acceleration.

No luck with all 3 ways to set the scaling: Gnome control center, xrandr
or nvidia-settings. I cannot contribute to the fix itself, but if more
details on my configuration is needed, feel free to ask.

[Bug 1875916] Re: upgrading to 4.15.0-99-generic breaks the sound and the trackpad

2020-05-04 Thread Felix Barruche
Hi, when will the next cycle be?

For sound problems :
In /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf change "options snd-hda-intel model=auto" by
"options snd-hda-intel model=generic" seems to reactivate the sound on the
computer (this does not work for headphones, on Dell Inspiron 5379)
A quick fix, it allows to not revert the kernel.

I can't reproduce this in the latest version of Rosegarden. I tried

It's very likely this was fixed around the time the "Start JACK

[Bug 565352] Re: window not properly painted if started maximized

I have not ever seen this, and cannot reproduce. This was probably
fixed at some point along the way. Recommend closing this.

[Bug 511635] Re: Rosegarden 1.7.3 exports odd lines in Lilypond files

2020-05-01 Thread Ted Felix
grepping through all the baseline .ly files in rg's test suite, there
appear to be no more absTime or barStart lines. This must have been
fixed at some point. Recommend closing.

[Bug 356827] Re: Rosegarden does not recognize sox installation

2020-05-01 Thread Ted Felix
Rosegarden no longer requires sox. All audio processing is done via
libraries like libsamplerate and libsndfile1. This should no longer be
an issue.

[Bug 178962] Re: No audio output from Rosegarden in Ubuntu Studio

2020-05-01 Thread Ted Felix
Timidity assumes output to ALSA. If JACK is running, that means no
audio. Launch timidity as follows:

timidity -Oj -iAD

That should get you sound when JACK is running.
