[Bug 213444] Solved??? Hardy Heron nfs (client) reports internal error when I attempt to mount with NFS
Hello Again, I am really new about Ubuntu. I have solved my problem today, it was a simple fix. It is working in all my machines (1 Ubuntu 8.04 server, 3 Ubuntu 8.04, 1 Ubuntu 7.10 and a Laptop 8.04). All of them finally working. This what I did: I realized that right clicking on the NM applet on the notification area and choosing network information I was having a different one from the one I had stated in /etc/network/interfaces in order to address nfs in clients fstab. The IP displayed was not the one on interfaces. So I configured Static configuration (by clicking on network-managet icon in notification area and choosing Static configuration...), after unblocking it, etc, etc., then clicked on Connections tab and then on Wired connection and then clicked on Properties button; entered static IP, netmask, gateway and clicked on OK button. Then Rebooted and my connections were back. For my case it seems that NM was not reading /etc/network/interfaces since I had configured client's fstab to mount based on my so static IP. Check your kernel settings or use ’strip’ 5) sudo strip -S rt73.ko 6) sudo make install 7) Get rid off network manager: sudo aptitude purge network-manager 8) May or may not be necessary, to ease things?? sudo apt-get install rutilt 9) Turn off the wlan0 for a while: sudo ifconfig wlan0 down 10) Remove the following troublemakers: sudo modprobe -r rt73usb sudo modprobe -r rt2570 sudo modprobe -r rt2500usb sudo modprobe -r rt2×00lib 11) Blacklist the above, this is a must, as pointed out by some of you, open an editor: sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist 12) Add to the end of the file: # Blacklist rt73usb, as it is a non-functional beta module which conflicts with the working rt73 module. blacklist rt73usb # Blacklist rt2570, as it causes conflicts with rt73 blacklist rt2570 # Other modules that break rt73 blacklist rt2500usb blacklist rt2×00lib 13) Load the module: sudo modprobe -v rt73 14) Now you can play with RutilIT, click on menu: Applications/Internet/RutilIT... or 15) Even better open interfaces: sudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces 16)Add the following lines (for auto DHCP) according to your personal set-ups, but make sure to block (mask using #) all other references to eth0 or similar, if not this WON'T work: #auto eth0 #iface eth0 inet dhcp auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet dhcp pre-up ifconfig wlan0 up pre-up iwconfig wlan0 essid YOUR_SSID pre-up iwconfig wlan0 mode managed pre-up iwpriv wlan0 set AuthMode=WPAPSK pre-up iwpriv wlan0 set EncrypType=TKIP pre-up iwpriv wlan0 set WPAPSK=YOUR_PASS_KEY_IN_HEXADEC Or (for manual DHCP) #auto eth0 #iface eth0 inet dhcp auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet static address 192.168.1.2 (or what ever yours is) netmask 255.255.255.0 (or what .) gateway 192.168.1.1 (or what .) pre-up ifconfig wlan0 up pre-up iwconfig wlan0 essid YOUR_SSID pre-up iwconfig wlan0 mode managed pre-up iwpriv wlan0 set AuthMode=WPAPSK pre-up iwpriv wlan0 set EncrypType=TKIP pre-up iwpriv wlan0 set WPAPSK=YOUR_PASS_KEY_IN_HEXADEC 17) Save the file, 18) Reboot and you should be connected Hasta pronto, let me know, Fernando -- Ralink Wireless legacy drivers (rt2500 rt61 rt73 rt2570) USB/PCMCIA/PCI hangs PC https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/34902 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 144161] Wi-Fi rt73 USB (TP-Link TL-WN321G) doesn't connect
Public bug reported: after booiting on LiveCD Gutsy Tribe 5, my internet connection through my TP-Link TL-WN321G USB worked perfectly using WPA Personal + TKIP. After installation it worked for a few minutes or hours maybe, I was able to update and reboot as far as I remember.. Now NM applet keeps asking for the WPAPSK even that it is correctly typed and is perfectly saved in the key manager. The system NEVER froze as pointed in similar reports. It never worked on previous versions of Ubuntu. This USB Wi-Fi is based on the Ralink rt73 chip Let me know if I need to post some files or logs. Thanks in advance, Fernando ** Affects: linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Wi-Fi rt73 USB (TP-Link TL-WN321G) doesn't connect https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144161 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 144166] LCD display 1360x768 not configured after intallation
Public bug reported: This is kind of simple, but it took me some time to make it work. I am using: 1.- ATI RdeonVideo card: 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV530LE [Radeon X1600/X1650 PRO] 01:00.1 Display controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV530LE [Radeon X1650 PRO] (Secondary) Connected to the tv by the HDMI/DVI port+cable 2.- Display: Samsung LN32R71B LCD TV as the ONLY display, which is suppose to operate at [EMAIL PROTECTED] maximum. During the installation process, the default screen runs at 1024x640, but after booting for the first time it when to [EMAIL PROTECTED], YES, believed or not that was a problem because the menus (top and bottom) weren't visible. I had to modify the xorg.conf fiel and add the 1360x768 and 60 in the listed options: Section monitor modeline [EMAIL PROTECTED] 60.0 1024 1048 1184 1360 768 768 768 768 -vsync -hsync Section screen Modes[EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] [EMAIL PROTECTED] It is finally working, but it woulb be great if you include this modes under the generic version when chosing in screen and graphics (by the way the title of the windows is still in English (I am running the Spanish version) Fernando ** Affects: linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- LCD display 1360x768 not configured after intallation https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144166 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
