[Bug 1448942] Re: Juniper Network Connect Tun

2015-05-27 Thread François Jacques
Forget about my previous post (edit #31). I tried it with generic and
with a previous (3.16) kernel. In both cases, ncsvc still failed at
negotiating the tunnel although the authentication goes through just
fine and the connection applet shows up.

Kernel 3.19.0-18.18 is likely ok, both lowlatency and generic.

Now if I could find what else broke ncsvc... *sigh*

[Bug 899878] Re: Software center have hardcoded colors and shows white font on white bg

2015-05-27 Thread François Jacques
Considering that ubuntu software center is the go to place when new
users are installing packages, this issue should have been resolved a
long time IMHO. The css file proposed by Tommy (post #13) makes the
application usable again. I can't be assumed that new users all use the
light theme...

[Bug 1448942] Re: Juniper Network Connect Tun

2015-05-26 Thread François Jacques
Weird. I'm using:

3.19.0-18-lowlatency #18-Ubuntu SMP PREEMPT Tue May 19 19:02:50 UTC 2015
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

And I still get the problem reported. I'll try the generic kernel, but I have
little hope that the issue is completely resolved.

[Bug 1033146] Re: Microsoft LifeCam HD-3000 with Ubuntu 12.04: webcam light blinks, and freezes with guvcview

2015-04-30 Thread François Jacques
Hi,

This is a development message which shouldn't be reported that often.
It's not the root cause of issues seen with the LifeCam... just
misleading.

I investigated the issue down to the kernel driver with additional
traces. The set frequency operation at 48 khz goes through just fine,
but the validation get frequency request performed right after isn't
supported by the lifecam. The error code returned on that operation
isn't 0, and in that case the driver issues that message. However,
having a non-success for this operation is perfectly fine.

For more information, refer to USB Audio specification, when the adapter
doesn't support such Get operation. See page 67 in
http://www.usb.org/developers/docs/devclass_docs/audio10.pdf

If the addressed Control or Entity does not support readout of a certain
attribute, the control pipe must
indicate a stall when an attempt is made to read that attribute.

So, IMHO, the warning that we see is a development warning, not a bug
per se. The status code should be checked and the driver should remain
silent UNLESS some really unexpected status code comes up.

[Bug 1285444] Re: Login Successful, Desktop Never Loads

2015-02-11 Thread François Jacques
Got it sporadically with the KDE desktop over the last weeks. Very
annoying. The bug isn't system wide as other accounts load their
desktops just fine. My account is on KDE.

I'm on Ubuntu 14.10. Dual monitor setup.

I keep an open mind on the NVIDIA driver has the last kernel updates
required a manual dpkg reconfigure on nvidia-uvm, but again, as this is
only affecting one account, I don't think its related with nvidia.

Got similar log:
openConnection: connect: no such file or directory
cannot connect to brltty at :0
Script for ibus started at run_im.
Script for auto started at run_im.
Script for default started at run_im.

Reopened the bug, marked as incomplete.

[Bug 1159361] Re: zoneminder not creating local unix sockets for streaming

2014-07-27 Thread François Jacques
My results, based on Bill, Alain and Donovan comments:

1) Keep the default zone apache.conf without the ScriptAlias.

2) Stop both zoneminder and apache2
sudo service apache2 stop
sudo service zoneminder stop

2) Remove any stale sockets from /tmp/zm (default location):
sudo rm -vf /tmp/zm/*.*

3) sudo a2enmod cgi

4) Start zoneminder
sudo service zoneminder start

5) Start apache2
sudo service apache2 start

I found out that the order was important for step 4 and 5, otherwise it
doesn't work.

[Bug 1316289] Re: unable to add startup applications in gnome-tweak-tool

2014-07-15 Thread François Jacques
Ah, forgot to mention. For those who know how to read the change that
Ben proposes and would like to fix it locally, you can do so by
correcting the file:

/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gtweak/tweaks/tweak_group_startup.py

It works great after that.

Same issue here. I've tried the aptitude way, which I originally thought
