I tried printing from an installed kubuntu dapper. Following your
instructions, this is what I've tested so far:
Scenario 1a):
Using the recommended HL-5150D Foomatic/Postscript driver with Double-Sided
Printing set to Long Edge (Standard) via the system settings.
Scenario 1b):
Using the recommended HL-5150D Foomatic/Postscript driver with Double-Sided
Printing set to Off via the system settings.
Scenario 2a):
Using the Brother HL-5150D BR-Script3 driver with Duplex set to
DuplexNoTumble via the system settings.
Scenario 2b):
Using the Brother HL-5150D BR-Script3 driver with Duplex set to None via
the system settings.
Test results:
CUPS Printer Test Page:
1a) - OK
1b) - OK
2a) - OK
2b) - OK
Printing of a pdf file (2 pages):
kpdf with Duplex: long side
1a) - printer error

Every time the printing fails, the printer indicates a paper-related
error via blinking LEDs.
