[Bug 2068738] Re: AMD GPUs fail with null pointer dereference when IOMMU enabled, leading to black screen
Today Update Manager updated my Kernel from 5.15.0-107 to 5.15.0-112. Unfortunately 5.15.0-112 is not compatible with the AMD Ryzen 5 3500U with Radeon Vega Mobile Gfx x 4 graphics processor in my HP model 14-dk0011na laptop resulting in a black screen. Via GNU GRUB menu booted into Linux 5.15.0-107-generic from the list, and once into the OS using Update Manager removed 5.15.0-112. The laptop now boots correctly using Kernel 5.15.0-107. Looking forward to a fixed version of 5.15.0-112 How will novices like myself know when the 5.15.0-112 kernel is corrected without having to go through the above cycle every few days please? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2068738 Title: AMD GPUs fail with null pointer dereference when IOMMU enabled, leading to black screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2068738/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 435131] [NEW] updating to 9.04 broke x-server
Public bug reported: I was updating from 8.10 to 9.04 It said the update failed and supposedly reverted to 8.10, but it looks like nothing reverted. firefox crashed on opening and sudo seg faulted so I restarted and on booting it reported the Xserver would not start, so now I have only a terminal... I have included the X log and the dist-upgrade logs in the attached zip file there is x.0.log and from /var/log/dist-upgrade: main.log.partial 20090922-1713/ main5pm apt5pm 20090923-0441/ main4am apt4am after rebooting failed I went in to the recovery kernel, and told it to fix broken packages. This took a few hours but seemed to make no difference. oh, I just noticed my kernels are still ubuntu 8.10 perhaps someone could tell me how to update them? the update did not go smoothly, saying some packages could not be installed, and when I clicked ok, it said those packages were already installed. After that happened a few times I stopped keeping track. so yes, this is an update bug, but it has also rendered my computer useless to me, so any help would be appreciated. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- updating to 9.04 broke x-server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/435131 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
