[Bug 1687191] Re: psmouse broken for thinkpad touchpad on carbon x1 5th gen
@Anders: No, my problem is different from yours: both trackpoint and touchpad is unusable. Some users claim this is fixed in psmouse Linux kernel module psmouse, from version 4.0.12-rc4. My only workaround is to use IMPS protocol, which works predictably (stable) with the drawback of all multiple touchpoints (two finger scroll, for instance) not being useable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1687191 Title: psmouse broken for thinkpad touchpad on carbon x1 5th gen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1687191/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1687191] [NEW] psmouse broken for thinkpad touchpad on carbon x1 5th gen
Public bug reported: On my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th Gen with Swedish keyboard, the trackpoint and touchpad is defunct when running 16.04 LTS and 17.04 "out of the box". You're essentially required to attach an external USB connected mouse to complete (UI based) installation. Workaround: I can get the trackpoint (red dot) and touchpad to work with IMPS protocol. When loading the `psmouse` Linux kernel module, passing arguments `protocol=imps`, clicks and moving the mouse around works. Using the middle button for scrolling works - both by moving the trackpoint, and by using the touchpad. However, this disables two-finger scrolling using the touchpad. I also own a X1 Carbon 3rd Gen which works just fine. --- ApportVersion: 2.20.4-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: zesty DistroRelease: Ubuntu 17.04 DistroVariant: ubuntu InstallationDate: Installed on 2017-04-26 (3 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 17.04 "Zesty Zapus" - Release amd64 (20170412) MachineType: LENOVO 20HRCTO1WW Package: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (not installed) ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.10.0-20-generic.efi.signed root=UUID=591d9b02-d2fc-4ad4-8a2e-cc41bd853c0a ro i8042.reset i8042.nomux psmouse.proto=imps quiet splash vt.handoff=7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.10.0-20.22-generic 4.10.8 Tags: zesty ubuntu Uname: Linux 4.10.0-20-generic x86_64 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) UserGroups: _MarkForUpload: True dmi.bios.date: 03/10/2017 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: N1MET31W (1.16 ) dmi.board.asset.tag: Not Available dmi.board.name: 20HRCTO1WW dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: SDK0J40697 WIN dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Information dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: None dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrN1MET31W(1.16):bd03/10/2017:svnLENOVO:pn20HRCTO1WW:pvrThinkPadX1Carbon5th:rvnLENOVO:rn20HRCTO1WW:rvrSDK0J40697WIN:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrNone: dmi.product.name: 20HRCTO1WW dmi.product.version: ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz 1:0.9.13.1+17.04.20170109-0ubuntu1 version.ia32-libs: ia32-libs N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.76-1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 17.0.3-1ubuntu1 version.libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental: libgl1-mesa-dri-experimental N/A version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx 17.0.3-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.19.3-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev N/A version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:7.9.0-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20170309-0ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.14-0ubuntu1 ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-collected ubuntu zesty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1687191 Title: psmouse broken for thinkpad touchpad on carbon x1 5th gen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1687191/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1428952] [NEW] strings in UI incorrectly displayed with lots of spacing
Public bug reported: I'm on a ThinkPad X1 Carbon 3rd gen and I've installed Ubuntu 14.10 using the whole disk. Initially after install, everything was just fine, but after running 'aptitude upgrade -y', menu items and strings in UI (button labels, labels, ...) are incorrectly displayed. The attached image is a screenshot of the select file dialog, opened while reporting this bug. In the left pane, the text for the selected entry should read Bilder, and the third entry from the top should say ceda. In the list of files, the bottom entry should say x1-x11-issue- 02b.png' (and date columns should say 'tisdag'). As I move the mouse over the left pane (folder/favorite selection), the bottom line changes back and forth between the correct Hämtningar and incorrect Hämtninga. A similar pattern goes for the Open button: you can see that the text right now is Öppna but the p characters are drawn with different color. Once hovering over the button, it's drawn correctly. [Bug 1239074] [NEW] [MacBookAir5, 2] mini DP-to-VGA adapter not recognized
Public bug reported: This is a regression from 12.10 where this adapter worked without any problems. (Bad publicity to have to boot into Mac OS X to show a presentation about how good Ubuntu is, and why you'd want to switch ...) [Bug 1208858] [NEW] vpn submenu empty in network manager menu
Public bug reported: I've been using a OpenVPN connection for the past three-four days and I've got it setup with the GUI in network-manager-openvpn (-gnome package involved I guess?) and it works well most of the time. However, when the network connection is lost the VPN connection is not brought up back with the network connection (a separate wishlist kind of thing). The problem I'm having is that the VPN Connections submenu *sometimes* is completely empty. I'm not sure how to properly debug this or what to look for after/when this happens, or how to turn on more verbose logging. I'm on a laptop (MacBook Air 5,2) with Ubuntu 13.04 (upgraded from 12.10). Trying to reproduce this, I've tried to disconnect power, close lid and wait for the machine to suspend, then open the lid and let it respawn. So far, I've not been able to reproduce the bug this way. I'm updating libdbusmenu-gtk3-4 today, and hope this doesn't happen again. But I would like to know what to look for or do, when this happens the next time. I'd be happy trying to solve this if someone could lend a hand in pointing to the software chain of getting the raw events converted to ButtonPress/ButtonRelease and read up on the source code changes from 10.04 to 11.10 that caused this. A Stefan in Bug 880544 also sees this. I'm well aware of the range, that's not a problem. The problem is that this setup worked perfectly from January until June, which is when I went on vacation and installed 9.04. I did however not touch my home directory - any .gnome/ directories or gconf settings you want me to clear/check? Is there anyway I could figure out where in the chain the problem lies? This is a workaround that I've been using for quite some time (since Ubuntu 8.04 at least): Edit the .asoundrc file as described above. (Use hciconfig to get the MAC address if you don't know it.) Then run gconftool -t string -s /system/gstreamer/0.10/default/musicaudiosink alsasink device=bluetooth to get music sent to the bluetooth device. To switch back to whatever is the default, run gconftool -t string -s /system/gstreamer/0.10/default/musicaudiosink autoaudiosink -- [Hardy] Bluetooth-applet sees BT headset and pairs, does not show under audio https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/199266 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 399803] [NEW] [Jaunty] regression: bluetooth headset playback quality - choppy every two-three minutes
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: bluez I've been using a SonyEricsson headset since Ubuntu 7.10 to play music at work (from a ThinkPad T61) - it's been a great experience and a pleasure to listen to music using that headset. This christmas I got (myself actually) an Acer Aspire One 110A and installed Ubuntu 8.10, plugged in a tiny bluetooth adapter, installed banshee and rhythmbox, paired up and off I went. It worked great but with a shorter range (failed to keep music playing while going to bathroom :) However, I just recently updated to 9.04 and now playback has started to behave really bad. What happens is that it sounds just like I'm out of range - it gets choppy and after some time it fast forwards (skips frames) to get back in sync. lsusb says: Bus 002 Device 002: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode) Looking at /var/log/syslog this is what I get after doing a /etc/init.d/bluetooth restart (I do that whenever I forget to turn playback off when leaving my desk and return after a few minutes): Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Bluetooth daemon Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Starting SDP server Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Starting experimental netlink support Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Failed to find Bluetooth netlink family Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: bridge pan0 created Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.Service on path /org/bluez/16817/any Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: HCI dev 0 registered Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: HCI dev 0 up Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Starting security manager 0 Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.SerialProxyManager on path /org/bluez/16817/hci0 Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.NetworkPeer on path /org/bluez/16817/hci0 Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.NetworkHub on path /org/bluez/16817/hci0 Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.NetworkRouter on path /org/bluez/16817/hci0 Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.Service on path /org/bluez/16817/hci0 Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.Headset on path /org/bluez/16817/hci0/dev_00_18_13_DB_F4_0C Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.AudioSink on path /org/bluez/16817/hci0/dev_00_18_13_DB_F4_0C Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.Control on path /org/bluez/16817/hci0/dev_00_18_13_DB_F4_0C Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.Serial on path /org/bluez/16817/hci0/dev_00_18_13_DB_F4_0C Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Registered interface org.bluez.Input on path /org/bluez/16817/hci0/dev_00_18_13_DB_F4_0C Jul 15 15:41:44 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Adapter /org/bluez/16817/hci0 has been enabled Then, I start playback in banshee, music starts playing (sounds OK) and syslog shows Jul 15 17:31:59 acer bluetoothd[16817]: link_key_request (sba=00:1B:DC:02:0F:7E, dba=00:18:13:DB:F4:0C) Jul 15 17:32:00 acer bluetoothd[16817]: Can't open input device: No such file or directory (2) Jul 15 17:32:00 acer bluetoothd[16817]: AVRCP: failed to init uinput for 00:18:13:DB:F4:0C Just as I write this report and hit play above, I just got 1:17 minutes of OK playback, but then it started chopping and at 1:37 it was back in sync. [Bug 78540] Re: Alt-Shift does not propagate to remote host
I can confirm that Shift+Alt+anything doesn't work with 8.04 (LTS). In my everyday work this prevents me from using all refactor commands in Eclipse (such as rename, shift-alt-r) and all quick execution (shift-alt-x, t to run unit tests). Alt+key works. Shift+key works. Ctrl+Shift+key works. Installed version is 1.5.0-3+cvs20071006ubuntu0.1 Command used to connect is: rdesktop -k sv -g 1400x1050 -m -a 16 -z -x b -u fwendt localhost Window manager is meta-city (no compiz - DRI turned off to enabled Xinerama with 2960 pixels wide (external monitor+laptop monitor)). -- Alt-Shift does not propagate to remote host https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/78540 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 304196] [NEW] computer freezes when X starts
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Just installed xubuntu on a rather old Compaq Armada 110 (laptop) and it works pretty well (with 512 MB RAM) except that when X starts, the computer kind of stalls. Kind of: * display is turned off (backlight turned off) * replies to ping * caps lock led is turned on/off when caps lock key is pressed * display won't turn back on after hitting Ctrl-Alt-Bkspc or -F1 This is my first installation of Ubuntu on this laptop (it used to run Debian without X) After reading http://www.nabble.com/xorg.conf-for-Compaq-Armada-110-td18295187.html i applied the same workaround: Add «Driver vesa» to «Section Device» in /etc/X11/xorg.conf. That however doesn't use the full 1024x768 resolution that the screen is capable of, but only 800x600 (640x480 is displayed in Xfce's settings manager). ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- computer freezes when X starts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/304196 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 6270] Re: no support for TV-Out
The new -intel driver (the old one is -i810) has support for TV-out on 60 Hz TVs. Can't find the bug/thread where I read that, but all 50 Hz is basically left with two options: using an old -i810 or buying a new TV. -- no support for TV-Out https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/6270 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 6270] Re: no support for TV-Out
Daniel: I'd say you are partly wrong since I have gotten black-and-white working (see comment 23). I tested that on two different TVs with the same result: -i810 gives colour and is all well, -intel was black-and- white. I don't have the hardware any longer (got a new one changing jobs which doesn't have TV-out) so I haven't been able to test for a while and I'm sure things have moved quickly here. -- no support for TV-Out https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/6270 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 188178] Re: [Hardy] [regression] xorg with Intel driver crashes if Virtual 2048
@Emil Sit: According to XStrikeForce[0] xrandr1.2 can't handle good old multi display setups (non-Xinerama style), which is very unfortunate and brings us back to a Windows-alike level of usability again (where there's one desktop and it spans all outputs - if you change the workspace of the right screen then the left screen should not move). Hopefully it will be possible to use xrandr+intel (not i810)+compiz with two DISPLAYs (not two screens that are part of one virtual display) when xrandr 1.3 is released.
