[Bug 44729] Re: Very slow on some files

2007-10-17 Thread Gabriel Bouvigne
If in this last case lame is hanging/frozen and not just very slow, this is
likely to be another bug.
In this case, I would suggest you to report it to the lame-dev list:

[Bug 125979] Re: unable to reach www.keh.com from Feisty

2007-07-15 Thread Gabriel Bouvigne
Do you mean that it could be a more general problem than a pure Ubuntu one?
The strange thing is that if I use windows from the same computer, then it's
working. That is why I assumed that it should be a problem related to the OS.

[Bug 125979] Re: unable to reach www.keh.com from Feisty

2007-07-15 Thread Gabriel Bouvigne
I found this page about a similar problem with Suse:
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Problem_with_establishing_TCP/IP_connection_in_openSUSE_10.2

So it seems that it's a website problem, triggered by an enabled feature
within the kernel. Strictly speaking, it's not an OS feature, but from
an end user POV, it stops working when using this OS.

able to ping it, and ping is displaying the resolved IP address.

[Bug 43604] Re: screen flashes corrupt images during resume from hibernate

A strange thing is that if you have a password dialog box when resuming
from hibernation, the dialog is displayed on top of the background that
is still showing garbage. I think that in this case, it should probably
be possible to blank the screen before displaying the dialog box.

[Bug 117122] Progress bar doesn't move when resuming from hibernation

2007-05-27 Thread Gabriel Bouvigne
Public bug reported:

Kubuntu 7.04/AMD64

When resuming from hibernation, the progress bar which is supposed to show
resuming progress doesn't move. This is mainly a cosmetic glitch, but as
resuming takes more than 30 seconds, I initially thought that it was not
working.
Progress bar moving would allow user to know that the computer is still alive.

[Bug 48229] Re: Partition table destroyed when resizing NTFS

2007-05-23 Thread Gabriel Bouvigne
I recently tryed Kubuntu (7.04) bundled QtParted on a Vista system.

The built-in partition manager provided with Vista was only minimally able to
shrink the existing ntfs partitions.
To shrink them more and create new ones for Kubuntu, I used QtParted from the
live CD. Only changed 1 thing at once, and rebooted into Vista between each
step.
At each change of an existing ntfs partition, Vista started a chkdsk, but did
not detected any problem.

conclusion: in my case it worked without any loss.

[Bug 116358] QtParted doesn't report about number of partitions limitation

2007-05-23 Thread Gabriel Bouvigne
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qtparted

There is a limitation to 4 primary partitions on an IDE hard drive.
When used on a drive with already 4 primary partitions, QtParted doesn't offer
ability to create more partitions, which is fine.
The problem, however, is that it does not inform user about why it can not
create any partition.
Informing the user that The maximum number of primary partitions (4) on this
drive is already reached would be quite usefull.

It took me about 1 hour to remember about this.
