[Bug 349433] [NEW] Installation fails from live USB

2009-03-27 Thread Gabriele Monti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I downloaded 9.04 beta i386 desktop CD image, wrote it on USB drive. Restarted
the system and started Ubuntu without installing it, everything was fine.
Clicked on the desktop icon install to install Ubuntu, answered to language,
time and keyboard settings. Then the installer warned me that device sdb (the
USB drive I was using to run Ubuntu) had mounted partitions. Asked me if I
wanted to unmount them but the dialog only showed go back and continue
(while I believe yes or no would have been more appropriate!), however, by
clicking on continue it just kept to show me the same dialog, by clicking go
back it indeed went back to the previous step, but then I was not able to
continue installation. By clicking next it just kept loading (I don't know
what) without going on.

Maybe the installer should ignore the USB drive which is used as live CD
during installation.

[Bug 289658] [NEW] [Intrepid] Totem-mozilla can't play media player streaming (asx)

2008-10-26 Thread Gabriele Monti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem-mozilla

When opening this link:

http://www.raiclicktv.it/raiclickpc/secure/streamHome.srv?id=42624idCnt=79046path=RaiClickWeb^Home

totem-mozilla does nothing, an embedded player appears but no streaming.
This is the ouput:
If the same link is opened without any plugin it is possible to see the direct
link which is:

http://www.raiclicktv.it/raiclickpc/asx?id=42624caller=homepagina=nullpath=RaiClickWeb^Homevar=1225056142875

and which is correctly opened if passed to totem.
It looks like the problem is when resolving the URI, the plug-in resolves it to:

http://www.raiclicktv.it/raiclickpc/asx%3Fid=42624caller=homepagina=nullpath=RaiClickWeb%5EHomevar=1225056142875

Please note the %3F instead of ? and %5E instead of ^. In fact by passing the
latter URI to totem this error is returned:
Impossibile aprire la posizione; controllare di avere i permessi necessari per
aprire il file (the italian for: Impossible to open the location, bla bla)

[Bug 275426] [NEW] [Intrepid] Installing Package, Missing Dependencies

2008-09-28 Thread Gabriele Monti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: anjuta

After latest updates regarding GNOME packages Anjuta was removed. When I
try to reinstall it I get the following error message:

anjuta:
Depends: libgdl-gnome-1-0 it is not going to be installed

(I translated from the Italian message)

And when trying to install libgdl

libgdl-gnome-1-0:
Depends: libgdl-1-common (=0.7.11-1) but 2.24.0-1 will not be installed

Maybe it is just a version number problem.

[Bug 44194] Re: wpasupplicant doesn't start when the network start

2008-03-01 Thread Gabriele Monti
Some questions and some considerations.

I was wondering what happens if 85-ifupdown.rules is removed. I believe
/etc/init.d/networking would still do its job and networking would work fine.
If a card is removed (or added) udev wouldn't care (dinamically) about the
removal (or addiction), am I wrong? But, if I understood correctly how udev
work, a reboot would allow udev to get the change in the interfaces. So if this
is the case I believe it should not be a problem to remove 85-ifupdown.rules, I
think the number of users that remove or add cards is lower than the number of
those who need a static IP for wireless and however a reboot should make
everything working.

However, NM 0.7 should solve the problem by allowing system wide
settings.

[Bug 188028] [NEW] [needs packaging] network-manager on gutsy

2008-02-01 Thread Gabriele Monti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

Few days ago in the 0.6.5 stable branch of network manager a very
important feature has been added: support for 802.1x authentication on
wired networks. I successfully packaged it by simply using the debian
dir from -0ubuntu16 version since there are no major changes. It would
be nice to have it updated for gutsy.

[Bug 141466] gnome-power-manager blocks screen brightness on battery mode

2007-09-21 Thread Gabriele Monti
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-power-manager

Gutsy, DELL inspiron 1505

On battery power the brightness level gets very low (around 20%) even if
I set Dim display by Brightness to 80% which is the same value I set
it for the AC power. Moreover, I cannot increase the brightness (using
Fn+upArrow) since power-manager seems to block it.
