[Bug 859569] [NEW] confilct with firmware-b43-lpphy-installer wireless stops working
Public bug reported: I have a broadcom 4312 chip that requires firmware to be loaded in order for the wireless card to work. Under regular Ubuntu with Unity, I opt out of using the b43 driver and use the restricted Broadcom STA wireless driver wl provided by the Additional Drivers application. Unfortunately this driver does not appear after using Kubuntu live CD install, so I installed the b43 driver using the package: firmware-b43-lpphy-installer. It downloads (I'm connected using the ethernet cable) the broadcom-wl-4.178.10.4.tar.bz2 file from openwrt.org/sources/broadcom-wl-4.178.10.4.tar.bz2 and extracts the firmware to /lib/firmware/b43/ folder. After this my wireless works. [Bug 213162] [NEW] [Hardy] Compiz Fusion very slow
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: compiz While running compiz with either gtk window decorator, or emerald, windows are slow and unresponsive. A lot of cpu cycles seem to be getting used. Only problem I've had with compiz and other 3D compositing so far is the nvidia driver related memory leak, but this is different as it renders the environment unusable. Using metacity everything runs smoothly. Nvidia GeForce 6200 TurboCache(TM), driver version 169.12, installed using envyNG. Twinview is also running.
