[Bug 1061195] Re: Can't create EWS or MAPI account

2014-07-23 Thread Genadi Saltikov
Confirmed in Mint 17 attempting to set up Exchange access using EWS
Server Type.

Seems this is a bug since 2012 - why is it so slow to be fixed?
Are there alternative ways to access Exchange 2010 server?

2014-03-31 Thread Genadi Saltikov
Thanks to Paul for the workaround, and Krishna for the patch!

Is there any ETA to integrating this patch into the Kernel (or whatever it
patches)?
Smooth-scroll mice are only getting popular, so with the years, this problem
would only get worse for more people, and not every linux user is patient
enough to find Paul's workaround...

[Bug 1205690] [NEW] Default settings for updatedb.conf do NOT index encrypted home!

2013-07-27 Thread Genadi Saltikov
Public bug reported:

locate does not find any files in encrypted home.

I lost hours until I found the file(s) are actually there.

I would like to propose one of three solutions:
1) Modify the defaults in /etc/updatedb.conf so that encrypted home is indexed
(or please explain why its a security problem?)
2) During Ubuntu installation, add a step if the user chose encrypted home,
allowing him to choose whether to enable indexing on the encrypted home.
3) Add a hint in the relevant installation screen, where a user could click,
and get a list of known issues caused by choosing an Encrypted home (such as
locate not indexing it by default, complications accessing the ecnrypted home
via Live CD, and few other issues unexperienced users often encounter using
Encrypted Home.

The third solution is by far my favorite, what do you think?
We cant just leave it as it is, even googling for ubuntu locate does not find
files with . prefix (my initial issue) has not clued me into the problem, it
was pure luck someone on IRC guessed I might be using encrypted home! otherwise
I might have wasted hours more looking where the file was gone, and why...

The file looks good, but just for good measure I used the instructions doing
friends-dispatcher -d -o
So far nothing suspect, I will leave it running and will update if anything
weird happens.

However, that does not answer why the version does not get updated to
the one you have patched.. where is the patch? its not in the Raring
repo.

The log does not seem to contain much information as far as I see...

And yes, the crash has just happened again - I came home, turned on my
screens, logged in - and after a few minutes of not doing anything (was
reading an email on the phone), when I looked back at the screen, I saw
the crash report again.

I clicked continue, did you receive it anywhere?
Should I attach anything else from some place?

[Bug 1189229] Re: friends-dispatcher (Empathy) crashes almost always, usually after screen lock due to inactivity, when I unlock screen I have the Sorry, Ubuntu 13.04 has experienced an internal err

2013-06-22 Thread Genadi Saltikov
Well, I only know I get this annoying report all the time.
Usually after a long period of not using the computer (screen turns off, locks)
- when I unlock, I get this crash error greeting me.
This does not happen if it locks and I unlock it within an hour or so - only
after a long time like a day, when I come back home from work and unlock screen.

I am attaching a screenshot
I am not sure what is the difference between 'friends' and Empathy, I just know
that thing is poor replacement for Google Talk, is too often offline until I
actively open it to force it to connect and search contact, and gets messages
sometimes in delay of DAYS.

If you tell me what else you need of me to help reproduce and diagnose the
source of the error, I'd be happy to help.
Attached is a screenshot - I didnt close them yet.

I just clicked continue on all the reports, but how exactly do I submit them?
I also just did update few dozens of packages like you suggested however
friends wasnt one of them.

You saying friends is not related to Google - then who is using the Online
Accounts in settings? which has Facebook and Google set up...
If it downloads messages from Facebook and the likes, isnt it also downloading
messages from Google Chat?

I will update within a day if/when I get another popup about crashed
friends...

[Bug 1155327] Re: skype crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc@plt()

2013-04-09 Thread Genadi Saltikov
Using dpkg --get-selections |grep prelink, I dont see it as installed
package.

As for the qtwebkit, what I have is libqtwebkit-dev, libqtwebkit4:amd64,
libqtwebkit4:i386 which does seem to be Version: 2.3.0-0ubuntu2

[Bug 1161341] [NEW] Lock screen assumes the language or last active application

2013-03-28 Thread Genadi Saltikov
Public bug reported:

There is a slight (annoying) design problem:
When the Desktop locks (either automatically, or manually), the lock screen's
language would be set to the one in the last active window.

So, say I have English as Default language in the system, and one window (Say,
Skype, but I reproduced this specifically with Xchat window).
Using Alt-Tab, set the typing language to another (in my case, Hebrew).
Then, either wait for timeout, or use the mouse to lock the screen (Ctrl-Alt-L
would not work because its Hebrew typing selected, but I think that is another
bug but less annoying me).

When you get the lock screen, you will see the input type is set to the
non-English language (in my case, Hebrew).

[Bug 1097773] Re: apport-gtk crashed with ValueError in _apt_pkg(): package skype-bin does not exist

2013-03-16 Thread Genadi Saltikov
It happens pretty much on every time Skype is started either after
reboot (auto start), when trying manually - nothing happens.

[Bug 1097462] Re: kmod crashed with SIGABRT in __assert_fail_base()

2013-02-25 Thread Genadi Saltikov
Same here, I get this every time I do apt-get update, then apt-get
upgrade - at the end of the upgrade, I get:

Processing triggers for initramfs-tools ...
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-3.8.0-6-generic
modprobe: ../tools/modprobe.c:550: print_action: Assertion
`kmod_module_get_initstate(m) == KMOD_MODULE_BUILTIN' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

I did workaround from:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kmod/+bug/1073062 comment 2:
echo module-init-tools install|dpkg --set-selections

It does not help.

Do you require any further data to debug it?

[Bug 1120737] Re: signon-ui crashed with SIGSEGV in SignOnUi::BrowserRequestPrivate::~BrowserRequestPrivate()

2013-02-15 Thread Genadi Saltikov
This also happens to me when trying to add my Google ACcount which is
configured to 2-Step Verification.
When I finish entering the code from my SMS, sometimes the window disappears
back to selection of account type to add, other times I get to click Verify
button, and then goes back to account selection..
