2010-07-30 Thread Gerald Carter
I don't actually see a failure logged from likewise-open.  I installed
5.4.0.42111-2ubuntu1 from main and then 5.4.0.42111-2ubuntu1.2 from
updates and it went through without a hitch. Can you verify that the
following commands work properly (as root).

  $ /etc/init.dlwsmd restart
  $ lwsm start lsass

[Bug 575021] Re: lwiod: GSS-API error calling gss_accept_sec_context

2010-05-14 Thread Gerald Carter
Jeurgen, apologies for your experience. I've been a bit busy. If you
are really interested in evaluating Likewise-CIFS, my suggestion it to
pull the latest master branch from git://git.likewiseopen.org
/likewise-open.git and run build/mkcomp all build/mkpkg cifs. That
will generate a likewise-open-cifs package that you can install and
experiment with. if you have questions, please email me directly and
I'll do what I can to help.

The issues you are seeing in the likewise-open-server package are just
packaging issues and not engineering issues IMO.

In the next 30 days, I will hopefully start generating likewise-open 6.0
packages for the PPA that work around some of the krb5 system libraries
issues that are making our gss-ntlm sad. For better or worse, my focus
on the likewise-open packages in Lucid focused on upgrades from previous
releases and making the authentication support solid for desktops and
servers.

[Bug 555525] Re: domainjoin-cli: Failed to join domain

Honestly, I'm a little stumped. I have no local repro for the failure.
If your domainname is really dnsname.local, you could try removning
any mdns references from /etc/nsswitch.conf.

[Bug 551901] Re: likewise-open fails to join domain (lucid)

2010-04-12 Thread Gerald Carter
It could very likely be this commit in the likewise-open upstream.
http://git.likewiseopen.org/?p=likewise-open.git;a=commitdiff;h=e83a8e9862ed5357eb362ca617d93d8d6d133311

But that is a change to the krb package in Ubuntu so I can't do anything
about it here. You could try two things.

(a) Look at a network trace and see if this is really this problem you are
experiencing
(b) rebuild you krb5 libs with the patch and test it for a resolution

If you can't figure out how to do (b) easily, I can work on posting a
modofied libkrb5 set of packages to to the likewise-open PPA.

[Bug 302026] Re: likewise-open prevents local passwords from being changed

2010-04-08 Thread Gerald Carter
This doesn't seem to have any real relevance to the original bug report.

You installed packages from likewise.com right? And then upgraded the
ubuntu 9.04 workstation to a newer ubuntu release? In any case, boot
into single user mode and run the following as root:

  $ /opt/likewise/bin/domanjoin-cli configure --disable pam
  $ pam-auth-update -f (and accept the defaults)

When you are comfortable with the upgraded system, you can run the
following to re-enable the pam_lsass module.

  $ /opt/likewise/bin/domanjoin-cli configure --disable pam

Please note that I realize this is not very Ubuntu-like to modify pam
files directly. There's an upstream bug report already. The native
ubuntu packages (in main/universe) do the right thing however.

[Bug 543733] Re: unknown error prevent from joining domain

2010-04-07 Thread Gerald Carter
What is the output from ps --ppid `pidof lwsmd`. Did you upgrade
likewise-open from th3 5.4.0.39xxx in Beta1 to the 5.4.0.42111-1 deb?
Or was the later a fresh deb install? You might also want to try the
5.4.0.42111-2 deb from ppa:likewise-open/ppa since there is one specific
ad-provider fix that corrects some loading issues with domain trusts.
