[Bug 151938] Re: gutsy kernel is causing data-loss.somehow related to SATA (media-error)
I was having the same problem as you guys. It started with Feisty, like two months ago or so. Everything would slow down or even freeze (not always the mouse). I stopped using the computer as I thought the hard drive was dying, but then, one week ago I used some app in the Ultimate Boot CD that found some errors on my hard drive and it let me erase it all in order to repair it (this tool was specific for my Hitachi hard disk). It took a while, but now everything is working fine. I had Feisty/WinXp before (never booted Windows, though) and now Gutsy/WinXp (idem). Smartctl says the test is PASSED, too. -- gutsy kernel is causing data-loss.somehow related to SATA (media-error) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/151938 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 151938] Re: gutsy kernel is causing data-loss.somehow related to SATA (media-error)
-- So when you first started having your problem you were running Feisty and you had run Feisty already for some time without any problems ? Yes, that's right. -- And you didn't run Gutsy or dual boot with Gutsy when your problems started ? No, I didn't. My hard drive is two years and a half old. I wouldn't be surprised if it was dying. I'll keep using it as long as it is stable. Then I'll think about replacing it or buying a new laptop. I'm subscribing to this bug, in case you need more info. [Bug 125947] Re: Screen blanks after ten minutes when watching video in Mplayer with XGL and Compiz Fusion turned on
Hi Chris. I run the command you said, but it didn't fix it. The screen went blank after some 20 minutes (instead of the usual 10). Other thank that it doesn't seem to break anything (my Screensaver menu is ok too, Ross). ** Attachment added: Xorg.0.log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9857366/Xorg.0.log -- Screen blanks after ten minutes when watching video in Mplayer with XGL and Compiz Fusion turned on https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/125947 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 104997] synaptics touchpad on acer aspire not working after update
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics About a month ago I updated Edgy as usual. There was some problem with that update, and many users were getting udedv[]: add to rules... error messages on booting up. Most of them, I think, had problems with their printers. My problem was that the touchpad didn't work at all, and I'm using a USB mouse since. From what I could gather the problem seemed to come from a libgphoto2 update. It seems the problem was fixed for most of the users with another update later on. But it didn't fix my touchpad. Before getting a USB mouse I booted on Windows XP, and they touchpad didn't work either! I reinstalled the drivers and it was working again. I came back to Ubuntu, but the touchpad was still useless. Some days ago I booted again on Windows and it wasn't working again! I started using a USB mouse some months ago. At first it worked ok, just plug-and-play. But at some point something happened and I had to change the driver specified in the Configured mouse section in xorg.conf from synaptics to mouse for it to work. I've obviously tried with both settings to no avail. qsynaptics and gsynaptics report the driver as correctly installed and the SHM memory as available. I don't know if this is the right package to report to or if the logs I'm attaching are the correct ones. I need some guidance. Thanks. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed ** Tags: acer driver laptop synaptics touchpad -- synaptics touchpad on acer aspire not working after update https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104997 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 84605] scim CPU RAM 100% and won't start
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: scim I had a .xsession file in my home folder to start SCIM (since starting it from Startup Programs as 'scim -d' would not work). But today I was going to write some Chinese and noticed the tray icon wasn't there. I tried starting scim manually from terminal. Everything seems normal, it gets up to 'Creating SCIM backend...' or something similar and starts eating all the CPU and RAM, turning my system unstable and forcing me to reset the PC. No errors appear at all. I think I can't use SCIM since yesterday. Yesterday I upgraded my system with the following packages: language-pack-en (1:6.10+20061130) to 1:6.10+20070115 language-pack-es (1:6.10+20061130) to 1:6.10+20070115 language-pack-gnome-en (1:6.10+20061201) to 1:6.10+20070115 language-pack-gnome-es (1:6.10+20061201) to 1:6.10+20070115 language-pack-kde-es (1:6.10+20061130) to 1:6.10+20070115 libgnomevfs2-0 (2.16.1-0ubuntu4) to 2.16.1-0ubuntu7 libgnomevfs2-bin (2.16.1-0ubuntu4) to 2.16.1-0ubuntu7 libgnomevfs2-common (2.16.1-0ubuntu4) to 2.16.1-0ubuntu7 libgnomevfs2-extra (2.16.1-0ubuntu4) to 2.16.1-0ubuntu7 linux-headers-generic (2.6.17.10) to 2.6.17.11 linux-image-generic (2.6.17.10) to 2.6.17.11 linux-libc-dev (2.6.17.1-10.34) to 2.6.17.1-11.35 linux-headers-2.6.17-11 (2.6.17.1-11.35) linux-headers-2.6.17-11-generic (2.6.17.1-11.35) linux-image-2.6.17-11-generic (2.6.17.1-11.35) But I could be wrong and this could come from some days before.
