[Bug 1946817] Re: Epiphay browser crashes when loading Matrix/Element

2021-10-12 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
installing apport-collect uninstall systemd-coredump. Anyhow, I played
along:

% apport-collect 1946817
Package webkit2gtk not installed and no hook available, ignoring

*** Updating problem report

No additional information collected.

Press any key to continue...

No pending crash reports. Try --help for more information.
--

I requested another person to try the same, and it could reproduce
it in a hardware that is already different than mine. So, it is
a matter of running the line I reported and get more information.
The backtrace contains the symbols.

It seems specific of the WebKitGtk version shipped by Ubuntu 21.10.

** Package changed: webkit (Ubuntu) => webkit2gtk (Ubuntu)

** Tags added: apport-collected impish wayland-session

** Description changed:

Using Ubuntu 21.10 Beta from October 12th.

  Try:

  % /usr/bin/epiphany -p https://gnome.riot.im/

The WebKit process crashes while loading the page.

I used explicitly the -p (private mode) option to narrow the issue.

[Bug 1511002] Re: Computer freezes/crashes while using GNOME

2015-12-11 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
I set it back to Confirmed as this bug mainly is a crash report, with a
kernel stacktrace. The stacktrace may help a developer to see where the
issue is.

The other bug is only about the garbage text, something I mentioned that
may be related, but it may be not and just be coincidence.

Anyhow, I will test the setting suggested there (to fallback from SNA to
UXA), and see whether I can get a crash report in the following days.
Otherwise, I will try back to SNA and test the same again.

** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete => Confirmed

[Bug 1511002] [NEW] Computer freezes/crashes while using GNOME

2015-10-28 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
Public bug reported:

I think I have two issues (may related) with the Intel driver for my
graphic card. Sometimes the text is shown as garbage, and every other
day (after suspending) it crashes. As I have not figure out what is the
SysRq magic key is in this new laptop (Lenovo x250), I can only recover
control on my computer after pressing the power off button.

I cannot go to a vt. No nothing. I hope the follow call trace is
related to that, although it should not be there in any case :-)

[Bug 867749] Re: Permission Denied error when reading a pdf format file whos name doesn't end in .pdf

2015-01-03 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
In Evince upstream, we have seen similar reports in the past, but all of
them have turned out to be Ubuntu specific (i.e. issues with apparmor).

As per comment https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=661936#c9:

File named test:

[12219.529055] type=1400 audit(1420318053.543:106): apparmor=DENIED
operation=open profile=/usr/bin/evince name=/var/run/test pid=22519
comm=EvJobScheduler requested_mask=r denied_mask=r fsuid=1000 ouid=0

After renaming to test.pdf it works as expected.

This does not apply if file is in user home dir. Looks to me like distro
(namely Ubuntu) specific.

[Bug 311614] Re: If DPI in X != DPI in Gnome, document dimensions are not true at 100% zoom

2013-04-05 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
This might be a bug in screenruler. If I change the DPI of the screen
and the document is set to 100% (representing physical size), then, the
document should change its size. That is, if the document is A4 and I
put an actual A4 sheet on top of the screen, changing the DPI should not
change the document size.

Nevertheless, the 100% zoom of evince 3.8 is slightly wider in my screen
in 3.8 (not smaller)

[Bug 806606] Re: ip information frame not displayed correctly

2012-03-24 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
Stable distributions only make updates between minor releases, not between
major releases.
This avoid the introduction of regressions in other places.

Nevertheless, gnome-nettool 3.0.1 was released in January and there is no
update in Ubuntu.
You can file a bug for getting that package into 11.10.

However, gnome-nettool 3.0.1 does not include the fix for this particular bug
because the
solution implies a change in the UI. Therefore it was included in
gnome-nettool 3.1, which is
is a development version of the next gnome 3.2 (not released yet).

Gutsy.

But, yes, BUT...

tzdata-2007k with the currenct patch has a bug. It will change the time
zone by Friday 28 night, instead of Saturday 29 night.

Do I need to reopen this bug? Sent a new patch? Report a new bug?

This time we have a 2 week's window more or less.

[Bug 198129] Re: Chile delay in 3 weeks the daylight time transition

2008-03-10 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
I can confirm the bug.

I was expecting to have CLST this sunday 9, but it was CLT. The time
was right, but not the timezone.

It didn't happen in Debian Etch. I checked them, and both of them
(ubuntu and debian packages) shared the same patch.

I also checked with:
$ zdump -v 'America/Santiago' | grep 2008

According to this, the timezone should be CLST.

However, in Ubuntu was required to run dpkg-reconfigure tzdata.

At that moment, 'America' was not selected. I mean, there were no
timezone selected.

After I choose 'America', pressing next I got 'Santiago' (Chile most
common locations or so) selected. I pressed ok, and the timezone was
fine again (CLST).

Also tried to repackage it using the latest tzdata 2008a (with the right
patch for Chile), and it happened the same. It seems there is problem
in other part.

[Bug 198129] Re: Chile delay in 3 weeks the daylight time transition

2008-03-10 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
Fortunately, my wife also has a notebook in similar situation. It dosn't
have the current tzdata package.

Both machines has been upgraded from Feisty.

$ cat /etc/timezone
User defined
~$ zdump /etc/localtime
/etc/localtime Mon Mar 10 20:26:41 2008 CLT

In my machine (after dpkg-reconfigure):

$ cat /etc/timezone
America/Santiago
$ zdump /etc/localtime
/etc/localtime Mon Mar 10 21:27:43 2008 CLST

I can test it tomorrow in another machine (installed with a pristine
gutsy).

[Bug 88746] Re: USB devices are not recognized when having ehci_hcd modprobed

2007-10-14 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
I had having the same issue using Gutsy, currently using
2.6.22-14-generic.

I would also to add, that all my USB 2.0 devices used to work until
october 10.

I have tried the tips given here wthout success, except removing
ehci_ucd, which is not an option for big external disks.

[Bug 44775] Re: Can't copy information from Traceroute table

2007-08-08 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
From http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387201#c4

traceroute.c didn't change between 2.14 to 2.18. My guess the bug was
introduced by the Ubuntu customization (it uses tracepath instead
tcptraceroute/traceroute).

In Ubuntu Feisty, at the moment of paste, the output is the following:

(gnome-nettool:29446): Gdk-WARNING **: Error converting from UTF-8 to STRING:
Invalid byte sequence in conversion input

So, I guess strip_line (traceroute.c) is filled with some garbage.

[Bug 44775] Re: Can't copy information from Traceroute table

2007-08-08 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
I'm not familiar with launchpad and I haven't found how to reopen this bug;
which I can confirm.
Neither I haven't found how to take out the 'upstream dependency'; because this
is bug is in Ubuntu, not upstream.

[Bug 78538] Re: Feature Request: Allow Firefox to work on multiple X11 screens

It's not a feature, or wish list. It's a bug.

Anyway, I don't know what is the criteria to choose which one is
duplicated. This bug was reported three months ago and just now it
seems to get some attention.

[Bug 70967] It can't open multiples windows in multihead session

2006-11-08 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I'm working with a multihead setting (xinerama), where I have two
screens (the main on the right side, the second one on the left).

When I open a firefox's instance in one screen, it is not possible to
open another instance in the other screen. It complains that one
instance is running and it must be stopped in order to open a new one.

I would like to open different firefox windows in each screen.

[Bug 62296] Button go in location bar souldn't expand

2006-09-25 Thread Germán Poo-Caamaño
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 60643 ***

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

The location bar in firefox (with gnome support) using Ubuntu Edgy is
too narrow. Even when you 'clean' the toolbar deleting other icons or
choosing small icons or choosing only icons.

When more space is available in the toolbar, the button Go (located in
the right side of the location entry) is expanded but no the location
entry as I would expect.

Evenmore, the button 'Go' doesn't respect the fact that I choose show
only icons.

I'll attach an screenshot of the problem.

I tested it with 2 different themes.
