Dear Daniel, I was just wondering why you have changed the title/summary
to include workspaces? As far as I can tell, nobody has commented on
this bug reporting an issue with dialogs appearing on the wrong
workspace.

[Bug 1035221] [NEW] xdg-open/gnome-open opens blank firefox

2012-08-10 Thread Greg Auger
Public bug reported:

Both
xdg-open http://google.com
and
gnome-open http://google.com
result in a new Firefox window, with a single empty tab.

This is not the expected result - I expect the page to open in a new
tab/window. Running
firefox http://google.com
gives the expected result.

Whilst I am seeing the bug under quantal (regression from precise) the
packages xdg-utils and libgnome2-0 are the same version in both cases.

/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/http/command is set in both cases to firefox %s

[Bug 1035012] [NEW] Trash / Rubbish Bin shows as full when it's empty

2012-08-09 Thread Greg Auger
Public bug reported:

It's not quite clear what is causing this, but I'm certainly not the
only one to see it

Symptoms:
1. Trash item shows items in it
2. Clicking on Trash icon opens Nautilus which shows no items in Trash

3. Using the quicklist to empty the Trash makes no difference
4. Running `unity --replace` brings everything back to normal

[Bug 1029788] [NEW] HUD could include compiz window management menu

2012-07-27 Thread Greg Auger
Public bug reported:

It would be a really useful addition to the HUD if the compiz window
management menu (currently accessed via right clicking on a window
header) could be accessed via the HUD.

This would allow the following actions in the HUD:
 - Minimise
 - Maximise
 - Move
 - Resize
 - Always on Top
 - Always on Visible Workspace
 - Only on This Workspace
 - Move to Workspace Right
 - Move to Workspace Down
 - Move to Another Workspace
 - Close

Obviously some of these already have keyboard shortcuts, but others
don't. Making them accessible via the HUD would be very useful.

[Bug 1029932] [NEW] Brightness and Volume laptop keys behave inconsistently

2012-07-27 Thread Greg Auger
Public bug reported:

Holding the volume up button causes the volume to continually go up. The
same doesn't work for brightness - the button has to be repeatedly
pressed.

This inconsistency can be confusing for users. I believe the preferable
behaviour is that of the volume buttons.

[Bug 1029339] [NEW] Battery time remaining fluctuates wildly, despite charge declining predictably

2012-07-26 Thread Greg Auger
Public bug reported:

Please take a look at the attachment.

The percentage charge remaining on my battery appears to show my battery
emptying fairly predictably (graph #1). However, the very important Time
to Empty statistic fluctuates quite a lot (graph #2). Certainly more
than the charge remaining graph suggests it should. I believe this is
because of the rate of power consumption (graph #3).

I believe that the Time to Empty statistic should be refined to take
into account a longer period of time previously. Clearly the statistic
needs to change if more power demanding activities are being carried
out. However, it shouldn't change so rapidly - brief fluctuates should
effectively be ignored.

The Time to Empty number is incredibly important to users' use of
portable devices.

Note: this may be something that needs addressing in one of gnome-power-
manager's dependencies, I don't know the stack well enough. So please
reassign if necessary.

[Bug 748539] Re: panel should not show when in full screen on second monitor

2012-06-16 Thread Greg Auger
I've unmarked this as a duplicate, because it is very definitely a
multimonitor issue.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open an application on one monitor and put it in fullscreen (e.g. open
firefox or gedit and press F11)
2. Note that clicking on Desktop background on other monitor does not cause
unity panel to show on 'first' monitor
3. Now open any application on the 'second' monitor.
4. Note that the unity panel appears over the top of the fullscreen application
(firefox/gedit/etc)

Expected result:
4. Unity panel remains hidden on the monitor with a fullscreen application

[Bug 1007547] [NEW] totem-mozilla would be more useful if it displayed time and time remaining

2012-06-01 Thread Greg Auger
Public bug reported:

(This is a wishlist item, rather than a proper bug.)

I think that Totem within Firefox would be a lot more useful if it
displayed times. I usually end up right clicking and pressing Open with
Movie Player, purely to see the length of the video.

[Bug 907015] Re: Dialog shown on clicking Shutdown is different to the dialog shown when pressing the physical power button

2012-04-25 Thread Greg Auger
I'd just like to point out that this request does not actually conflict
with the design described in that document - the document suggests
implementing the same dialog for both Pressing the power button and
for selecting the shutdown or restart option in the device indicator.

I'm delighted to see that being proposed.

[Bug 979994] [NEW] After check for updates complete, packages in list dissappear and reappear (sometimes one by one)

2012-04-12 Thread Greg Auger
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1. Get Update Manager to a state when there are updates available, and visible
in the list
2. Press Check

Expected result: previous packages stay on list, new available packages
are added to the list, any now unavailable packages are removed from the
list.

Actual result: entire list disappears and is slowly repopulated (even if
nothing has changed)

[Bug 976062] [NEW] Inconsistent (and frustrating/ugly) lists

2012-04-07 Thread Greg Auger
Public bug reported:

Open the software centre. Select an item from the All Software toolbar
button. Now select the same item from the Installed toolbar button.
(The item you click on can be Provided by Ubuntu or alternatively a
PPA or other repository.)

Expected result: same style of lists
Actual result: two different interfaces

This is inconsistent. Please see the attached screenshot.

Personally my preference is for the All Software style. I find the
expandable sections currently found in Installed quite frustrating -
I'd far rather just have a list.

ProblemType: Bug
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04
Package: software-center 5.1.14.1
ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-22.35-generic 3.2.14
