[Bug 427053] [NEW] m3u playlist behaviour quirks

2009-09-09 Thread Greg Schneider
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

Using v 2.27.92

Forwarding through an m3u playlist has strange results. I've noticed it
will sometimes skip to a random point in the next song and pause it, as
opposed to playing from the start. The volume is often muted as well.

This only began happening after the most recent updates.

[Bug 427053] Re: m3u playlist behaviour quirks

2009-09-09 Thread Greg Schneider
Yes. Seems to happen with most m3u playlists that have mp3 files in the
playlist. Just hit next to advance to the next song while the current is
playing. It may not happen on every song, but on a playlist of ~10 files
it should happen at least once if not much more.

[Bug 410948] Re: Volume too loud

2009-09-09 Thread Greg Schneider
Similar problem - my audio doesn't start playing until 30% (in any sound
app) and 50% in Flash under Firefox. From there it scales to 100%, but
over a smaller interval so it's very hard to finely control it, not to
mention being frustrating to play at low levels.

[Bug 421721] [NEW] Totem does not display song titles

2009-08-30 Thread Greg Schneider
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

I believe that the previous behaviour to the version of Totem in Karmic
was to display Artist - Song Title in the menu bar. It's currently
just showing the song title, which doesn't tell you anything unless you
look at the properties of the song to view the artist name.

[Bug 292806] Re: Evolution not storing passwords

2008-11-17 Thread Greg Schneider
I am having a similar problem. Passwords are saved, but if the server
becomes unavailable, it prompts for the password of the user (as
before). However, unlike in earlier versions, it no longer has the
password in the popup box, and you have to re-enter it every time.

It is otherwise saving the password, but it's the box that shows up when
the server is down that no longer has it entered automatically.

[Bug 274393] [NEW] Printing often fails

2008-09-25 Thread Greg Schneider
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: acroread

I am hardly ever able to print anything but plain text. Any formatting
or graphics (or printing multiple pages to one page) seem to not print
properly. Document Viewer is able to print without any problems. Using
an HP 1012 with the hpijs driver.

It will usually print a partial page, maybe one page at most and then
the print status will display this error:

There was a problem processing document 'AcroJA3tYB' (job x). The name
always begins with Acro and has random letters at the end. I realize
this isn't a proper error message, so if someone can let me know where I
can find one I will check.

[Bug 103866] Re: LVM no longer works

2007-04-07 Thread Greg Schneider
Hello,

Removed the evms package and ran the initramfs update as well.

Now it seems that it is totally broken. Cannot boot into either the -13
or -14 kernel. It hangs after mdadm: No arrays found in config file or
manually. This usually appears during the boot sequence, so it shouldn't
be a problem. (I have a few SATA drives, but not in RAID).

Another thing I had to do previously to get it to boot is add sleep 10
to the init file of initramfs. However, that shouldn't be related to
this issue.

[Bug 103866] Re: LVM no longer works

2007-04-07 Thread Greg Schneider
I readded evms and it will boot, but you have to do ctrl alt del at the
LVM loading stage as it just hangs, and none of my drives are
automounted as a result.

Here is output from when I installed evms and initramfs update ran:

cp: cannot stat `/etc/udev/rules.d/25-dmsetup.rules': No such file or directory
W: mdadm: unchecked configuration file: /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf
W: mdadm: please read /usr/share/doc/mdadm/README.upgrading-2.5.3.gz .
W: mkconf: MD subsystem is not loaded, thus I cannot scan for arrays.
W: mdadm: failed to auto-generate temporary mdadm.conf file.
W: mdadm: no configuration file available.
W: mdadm: falling back to emergency procedure in initramfs.

And on boot, I got the following advisory:

(something like this) add_to_rules: do not reference parent sysfs
directories directly, this may break with future kernels, fix in
/etc/udev/rules.d/19-local.rules:1

[Bug 103866] LVM no longer works

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: lvm2

I'm running Feisty, and lvm2 and lvm-common were updated to
2.02.06-2ubuntu9 and 1.5.20ubuntu12 respectively this week.

Since then, the system has just been hanging in the boot process when it
comes to loading LVM. I've let it sit there for 5-10 mins and nothing
happens. Hitting ctrl alt del lets it bypass loading LVM, but then I
have to mount all drives manually, nothing is automounted.

Worked perfectly prior to the latest upgrade.

[Bug 103896] Poor print formatting in Evolution

2007-04-06 Thread Greg Schneider
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

Everything seems to have broken with the latest version in Feisty. I'm
finding that it prints with very small margins, often cutting off text,
and always adds a blank sheet to the end.

The weird thing is that print preview looks the same way. I can't find a
way to change paper size or any other options in Evolution itself, so
I'm not sure where it's getting the settings from.

[Bug 68858] XFS to XFS fs transfers very slow

2006-10-28 Thread Greg Schneider
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

***This is in Edgy***

I'm using two SATA drives, both formatted in XFS.

Transferring files from either XFS drive to Ext3 or Reiser formatted
drives goes at normal speeds, but transferring between the two XFS
drives using the Nautilus GUI gives incredibly slow speeds - ETA of 2
hours for 4GB, with major disk thrashing and roughly 5mbit transfer
speeds.

Switching to the commandline and copying the 4GB file between the same
drives takes under 2 minutes.
