[Bug 368499] Re: Whole desktop freezes for 15 secs when background image is modified
Yes, it keeps happening. But it's not immediate. Starts getting slowing and blocking XOrg after a while. What you see is Xorg grabbing 100% CPU and locking completely (Mouse moves, but the pointer don't change depending on the context, and clicks, change of tab, windows movement, and widgets on gnome-panel, everything freezes). -- Whole desktop freezes for 15 secs when background image is modified https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368499 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 269071] Re: Intrepid regression: default route is no longer redirected over VPN tunnel
No, network manager is wrong doing. By default network-manager should accept the routes told by the vpn server. If the vpn server is telling the client that the default route should be through the tunnel, nm should obey it. Of course it's great that you could override the configuration sent by the vpn server, but the problem here is that nm is not following the configuration sent by the server. My openvpn server is configured with: redirect-gateway def1 This should add a default gw through the tunnel, with higher priority than the already present default gw. Network Manager is not adding on Intrepid. It was working properly on Hardy. Also nm is not able to remember any manual route added to the configuration. -- Intrepid regression: default route is no longer redirected over VPN tunnel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/269071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 269071] Re: Intrepid regression: default route is no longer redirected over VPN tunnel
This is still unfixed. I'm also affected by this problem on Intrepid. No default route is created after stablishing the openvpn connection. Launching openvpn by hand works well. The old nm from hardy was working well too. I think is a nm problem, because openvpn directly works well. There is also a problem with the nm routes configuration. When I try to add a 0.0.0.0 default route to the nm tunnel config, it's never saved. If I open again the routes, the list is empty. So setting routes by hand is not a workaround for this problem. -- Intrepid regression: default route is no longer redirected over VPN tunnel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/269071 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 296724] [NEW] md device is created very slowly on boot, and big rootdelay is needed
Public bug reported: I have fresh-installed Ubuntu 8.10 on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 III with software raid. The booting process stops complaining about a non existant root device, and dropping to a busybox shell. After some seconds the md device appears, and the booting could continue after issuing Ctrl+D. The RAID is configured as: /boot - /dev/md0 (4 discs RAID 1) / - /dev/md2 (3 discs + 1 spare RAID 5) The discs are 143Gb SAS 15K (they should be really fast) I attach dmesg and lspci outputs. [Bug 264977] Re: Filenames in ~/.Private are not encrypted
For network-shared drives I understand the need of maintaining clean filenames (or at least use the same key for encrypt them) to avoid collisions. But for user directories, there will be only one key, the key of the user, so that one can be used for encrypt filenames. encfs does this. It could be an option like one-user crypted directory. [Bug 232430] [NEW] Rhythmbox crashes GDM session changing between songs
Public bug reported: Rhythmbox crashes all the GDM session, closing all the X when changing between songs. This *only happens if you are on another X session*. As I reported in bug #220220, on my system the problem is worse: When apache kills some of it's children (too many idle processes, MaxRequestsPerChild reached) it also gets stuck in Gracefully finishing state. [Bug 220220] [NEW] Apache processes stuck in Gracefully finishing state
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apache I have a big problem with apache 2.2.4-3ubuntu0.1 of latest gutsy. Apache prefork uses a internal dummy connection to tell childs they should die. When apache emits that request to a child (too many idle workers, MaxRequestsPerChild reached...), the children correctly dies (is not longer a proc in the system), but the apache main process still thinks it's Gracefully finishing. Server status page shows processes on this state in a number increasing until Maxclients is reached and apache stops answering connections. It can be reproduced on my system easily issuing a /etc/init.d/apache2 reload. With that I get a lot of connections in the 'G' state. I'm also seeing problems with /etc/init.d/apache2 restart. It thinks its stoped too soon, and the start finds that the socket is still being used, logs are locked or other problems. I have seen a maybe related issue on apache's bugzilla: https://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=42829 But I'm not sure. It's on a xen virtual machine, maybe it's a problem related to this. ** Affects: apache (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Apache processes stuck in Gracefully finishing state https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/220220 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

The explanation is that there are a few PHP extensions that don't work well with threads, but right now most of them (and all the usual ones) work fine. [Bug 12296] Re: PHP5 or PHP4 for apache2-mpm-worker
Yeah, right now I'm using that, but is a pain to configure for novices compared to just install libapache-php5. At least some sample config could be provided in a libapache-mod-php5-fastcgi package or similar (that will have fastcgi dependance included) Now I have to create a /etc/apache2/mods-available/php5-fcgid.conf: AddHandler fcgid-script .php Files ~ \.php$ Options ExecCGI /Files FCGIWrapper /path/to/a/php5-launch-script .php The launch script is: #!/bin/bash export PHPRC=/path/to/conf export PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN=20 export PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUEST=5000 exec /usr/bin/php5-cgi This is much more flexible than just mod_php5 (I could have different launch scripts with different limits, conf directories... for each virtualhost, plus the SuexecUserGroup directive). But as I said Ubuntu should help a little bit more. People expects installing php5 and apache2-mpm-worker to work. And not only it doesn't, but just through unprocessed PHP code to anyone, and thats' is really dangerous. -- PHP5 or PHP4 for apache2-mpm-worker https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/12296 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 178558] Re: Firefox 3.0 makes everything annoyingly huge
Still this happens with FF beta 3. Fonts are rendered normal (same as other gnome apps) but icons on the interface are doubled. This is bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=394103 on firefox's bugzilla. I still suggest that: - The interface should not be scalled. Text is rendered right now same size as the gnome desktop. Icons should be the same size that the rest of the gnome desktop. - Scaling on the page contents could be useful for some people. But usually people with high dpi screen wants the things small and have a lot of contents on the screen. Posible solutions: - Scale only in *really* high dpi screens: After scaling x2 in a 147dpi screen as mine the base resolution is 147/2= 73 dpi. That's *really* huge. I would consider scaling only when base resolution is 120-150 dpi when the human eye does not see the separate pixels. i.e. in a 300 dpi screen a x2 zoom would have base resolution of 150 dpi and things will look pretty. 73 dpi blurried x2 scaled image pixels are not pretty. - Ask the user for his preference: Show a dialog like this: You screen has been detected to have very high resolution and the pages will be shown tiny (XX% the normal size on other screens). You can enable a default page zoom adequate to you screen in the preferences settings. -- Firefox 3.0 makes everything annoyingly huge https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/178558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 177895] Re: Kernel 2.6.24-2 causing ~1000 wakeups by Rescheduling Interrupts
This is very strange. After disabling cpu1 the wakeups-from-idle per second drops from ~31000 to ~250, and the kernel IPI : Rescheduling interrupts disappears from the output of the powertop. But the power consumption actually increases. It goes from 22.8W while idling with 2 cores activated to 24.8W with only one. It should be the other way, so I dunno what is really happening. Maybe the powertop utility it's not really acurate with two cores. I forgot to say that this is on a Dell D830. The user selector now show the name of the user (I have configured it to just show the icon). Strangely some (but only some) of the applets are in spanish -the default system lang- but I always start session forcing language english. NetSpeed, MultiLoad, the user selector, trash, workspace switcher. I don't know what could have reseted the gconf configuration, but is very annoying... Also the tomboy applet hangs on start. The .xsession-errors says: ** (gnome-panel:17527): WARNING **: panel-applet-frame.c:1278: failed to load applet OAFIID:TomboyApplet: Failed to resolve, or extend '!prefs_key=/apps/panel/applets/applet_4/prefs;background=none:;orient=down;size=x-small;locked_down=false ** Affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Gnome applets configuration reseted after hardy upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189850 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 178558] Re: Firefox 3.0 makes everything annoyingly huge
I confirm the problem also affects Epiphany, and it's worse (no workarrounds) because you can't change de dpi setting in about:config. Opposite to FF3, only the page is scaled. The interface is the same as other gnome apps, as it's pure GTK, not rendered by XUL. -- Firefox 3.0 makes everything annoyingly huge https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/178558 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
