Yes, I am using Kubuntu 14.10 Plasma 5 Tech Preview Version, on my laptop HP ProBook 4331s. After you said we can use lightdm instead of sddm, I installed lightdm and its dependence on my Kubuntu. Then switch to lightdm. However, after reboot, I can't login after type in my Passward. It gives an error called can not start section or some similar words. So I wrote it is impossible. I checked it, it is impossible to use lightdm with plasma 5. I have the same issue with my laptop HP ProBook 4331s. However, if I select the rendering to Xrender, it works fine.
