[Bug 1611283] [NEW] entering crypto passphrase while notebook is mounted to docking station results in sleep state
Public bug reported: After upgrading to the current kernel (4.4.0-34-generic) I am not able to log in to my Kubuntu 16.04 at a Lenovo T430 while it is mounted to a docking station. Ubuntu boots until I need to enter the passphrase for my crypted disk, but anyhow the system then enters a sleep state (small moon icon is blinking). Inside the docking station I am not able to leave that state. Outside the docking station the problem doesn't occur. While using the 4.4.0-31-generic kernel, everything works fine. I am not sure how to debug that behavior, so if some more information is needed please leave me a note. [Bug 1327619] Re: kernel version detection in module build
Thanks for adding this, now I am able to automatically detect the version. It would sill be better if this define would be in include/generated/uapi/linux/version.h and not in include/generated/utsrelease.h, because utsrelease.h is not there in non ubuntu kernel and then an include generated/utsrelease.h will fail, but I can include linux/vermagic.h which again includes generated/utsrelease.h to circumvent this problem. Instead of adding the ubuntu kernel version it would be better to add the EXTRAVERSION, then this would also work for the kernel versions you provide longterm support for. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1327619 Title: kernel version detection in module build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1327619/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1327619] Re: kernel version detection in module build
I saw that, but I am unable to parse this in the C preprocessor. I could do something like this: #if UTS_RELEASE == 3.15.0-5-generic /* some code */ #else /some code */ #endif but that does not scale. [Bug 1327619] [NEW] kernel version detection in module build
Public bug reported: When building an external kernel module against an Ubuntu kernel it would help to be able to include some special code for some specific Ubuntu kernel version. I want to ship a kernel module in source code which the user should be able to compile against mainline kernels and various distribution kernels like the Ubuntu kernel, it would help if there is some way to identify the version of the Ubuntu kernel. To identify the kernel version it creates a file in include/generated/uapi/linux/version.h and then I can use something like: #if LINUX_VERSION_CODE = KERNEL_VERSION(3,14,0) /* some code */ #else /* some code */ #endif The problem is that your kernel is not 100% API compatible with the mainline kernel and in some cases such a detection is also needed based on the Ubuntu kernel version used. RedHat extended this file with some version information about the RHEL kernel in use: #define LINUX_VERSION_CODE 132640 #define KERNEL_VERSION(a,b,c) (((a) 16) + ((b) 8) + (c)) #define RHEL_MAJOR 6 #define RHEL_MINOR 5 #define RHEL_RELEASE_VERSION(a,b) (((a) 8) + (b)) #define RHEL_RELEASE_CODE 1541 #define RHEL_RELEASE 430 I would like to see something like this also in the Ubuntu kernel (e.g. 3.13.0-27-generic) and in the long term kernel versions (e.g. 3.13.11.2) provided by Canonical. My current problem is that I do not know if the kernel I am compiling against has this backport in or not: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/git?p=ubuntu/ubuntu-trusty.git;a=commitdiff;h=f4c342cdce8acfaef2d89a800bb6a10128d802c8 Adding some version to the kernel will help the backports project. https://backports.wiki.kernel.org/ This problem effects at least trusty, but probably all versions, having such a feature in Debian would also be nice, but I have not checked. SLES already has a similar feature. ** Affects: linux (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1327619 Title: kernel version detection in module build To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1327619/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

According to gdb, the error occurs: #0 0x0041189b in game_timer (dt=0) at main.cpp:3662 Obviously, the FPE happens because in line 3662 the expression (2000/dt) fails when dt is zero. [Bug 883680] [NEW] Freezes (and Kernel panics) after Update to 11.10 probably caused by rt2800pci
Public bug reported: Since the update to 11.10 I experienced random freezes and kernel panics. At home this happened much less frequent than somewhere else. I started netconsole and after some time i now have experienced a freeze (blank screen, but no blinking Caps-Lock as it happens if the kernel panics). Well, the netconsole log was very big and repeated very often, so i just cut the last lines which hopefully will be sufficient. You can see it here: http://paste.pocoo.org/show/500219/ I did a quick search and found this post: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-wireless/msg77438.html Which says that this could be related to the rt2800pci driver. I dont know how to turn off Powersaving of this driver, if you can tell me i could try if this is a workaround for me. If you need further assistance from me in locating the problem just tell me. According to the guidelines: 1) Ubuntu 11.10 2) Linux wind 3.0.0-13-generic #21-Ubuntu SMP Mon Oct 17 20:18:09 UTC 2011 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux 3) Obviously I would like to have a smoothly running OS. 4) Freezes and Kernel Panics happen. [Bug 551179] Re: ReiserFS seems unsupported for root file system
An additional test with the very same cd that I used for the first try, I did not encounter the problem again! It was another pc, but very similar conditions. My guess about ReiserFS not being supported was obviously wrong. Unfortunately I don't understand what went wrong. I don't want to perform the procedure again on the pc from the first try, because that one is cleanly installed now (with Ext4) and doesn't have an empty partition left. [Bug 551179] [NEW] ReiserFS seems unsupported for root file system
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: debian-installer I installed Kubuntu 10.04 beta 1 x86_64 on an empty partition of a computer usually running 8.04 using the test-based installer (Alternate CD). As usual I choosed ReiserFS for the root file system. Installation went fine, I confirmed to install the new boot manager. When rebooting, it didn't reboot, Grub 2 complained about non-existent things (I'm sorry to have the precise error message, somehow copy the message was difficult on a non-running system). Using the appropriate grub commands (root, initrd, linux) I could boot the kernel of the new system, but this went into a kernel panic. The message was about that the root file system could not be mounted. Doing the very same installation procedure only with Ext4 for the root fs, everything went fine, even grub 2 works now without any tweaking. It seems that ReiserFS is not compiled into the new kernel and Grub 2 has some problem with that situation, too. Since there might be a good reason not to support ReiserFS fully, I consider it a bug, that the installer did't prevent me from setting up the system onto a file system that is not supported. ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ReiserFS seems unsupported for root file system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/551179 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 242956] Re: Bind9 (8.04) not returning 'ad' flag when dnssec is enabled
The problem lies within the libc stub resolver. I patched mine, so it always sets the AD flag in queries, which prompts the recursor to set AD in response if DNSSEC validation succeeded.
