[Bug 2069232] [NEW] Missing measurements on confidential computing platforms (Intel TDX)

2024-06-12 Thread Hector CAO
Public bug reported:

When we run a Confidential VM with grub bootlodaer on Intel TDX
platform, the module tpm is not loaded and boot measurements are not
done for the guest VM.

This bug will prevent grub of doing measurements on confidential computing
platform
(the bug has been confirmed on Intel TDX). This lack of measurements will break
the
remote attestation

I see only a change in the order of the measurements but not on the
measurement values, for example, drm.ko has the exact hash value for
both boots

[Bug 2066061] Re: Please merge paramiko 3.4.0-1 into Oracular

2024-05-17 Thread Hector CAO
The folowing Ubuntu changes are dropped:
- SECURITY UPDATE: Prefix truncation attack on BPP
- debian/patches/CVE-2023-48795-*.patch: implement strict key
  exchange.
- CVE-2023-48795
These changes are backports from upstream and the new debian version contains
these commits.
Per consequence, no need anymore to apply them

- debian/patches/remove_six.patch
This patch is dropped since it is in upstream

- debian/patches/fix_test_on_armhf.patch
This patch is dropped because the file tests/test_transport.py is changed in
the new version and
this patch is not application neither necessary

[Bug 2066061] [NEW] Please merge paramiko 3.4.0-1 into Oracular

2024-05-17 Thread Hector CAO
Public bug reported:

paramiko
Fri May 3 21:50:49 2024

Below now follows the report of the automated merge of the Ubuntu
changes to the paramiko source package against the new Debian version.

Here are the particulars of the three versions of paramiko that were
chosen for the merge. The base is the newest version that is a common
ancestor of both the Ubuntu and Debian packages. It may be of a
different upstream version, but that's not usually a problem.

The files are the source package itself, and the patch from the common
base to that version.

base: 2.12.0-2
paramiko_2.12.0-2.dsc
paramiko_2.12.0.orig.tar.xz
paramiko_2.12.0-2.debian.tar.xz

ubuntu: 2.12.0-2ubuntu4
paramiko_2.12.0-2ubuntu4.dsc
paramiko_2.12.0.orig.tar.xz
paramiko_2.12.0-2ubuntu4.debian.tar.xz

base -> ubuntu
paramiko_2.12.0-2ubuntu4.patch

debian: 3.4.0-1
paramiko_3.4.0-1.dsc
paramiko_3.4.0.orig.tar.xz
paramiko_3.4.0-1.debian.tar.xz

base -> debian
paramiko_3.4.0-1.patch

Generated Result

Due to conflict or error, it was not possible to automatically create
a source package. Instead the result of the merge has been placed
into the following tar file which you will need to turn into a source
package once the problems have been resolved.

paramiko_3.4.0-1ubuntu1.src.tar.gz

Conflicts
=

In one or more cases, there were different changes made in both Ubuntu
and Debian to the same file; these are known as conflicts.

It is not possible for these to be automatically resolved, so this
source needs human attention.

Those files marked with 'C ' contain diff3 conflict markers, which can
be resolved using the text editor of your choice. Those marked with
'C*' could not be merged that way, so you will find .UBUNTU and
.DEBIAN files instead and should choose one of them or a combination
of both, moving it to the real filename and deleting the other.

[Bug 1949314] Re: intel_gpu_top crashes with intel_gpu_top: ../tools/intel_gpu_top.c:1202: print_percentage_bar: Assertion `max_len > 0' failed.

2024-04-16 Thread Hector CAO
** Description changed:

  [ Impact ]

When resizing the terminal window, intel_gpu_top may crash if the window
becomes small enough. The output when it crashes is:

  intel_gpu_top: ../tools/intel_gpu_top.c:1202: print_percentage_bar: Assertion
  `max_len > 0' failed.

The fix has been reported and fixed upstream recently :
  https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/igt-gpu-tools/-/issues/143

The fix has been part of a serie of fixes that improve intel_gpu_top UI
behavior for some corner cases :
  https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/series/124890/

The proposed fix consists of backporting these fixes to affected Ubuntu
  releases (Jammy, Mantic and Noble)

  Tvrtko Ursulin (4):
- tools/intel_gpu_top: Fix clients header width when no clients
- tools/intel_gpu_top: Fix client layout on first sample period
- tools/intel_gpu_top: Optimise interactive display a bit
- tools/intel_gpu_top: Handle narrow terminals more gracefully
+   tools/intel_gpu_top: Fix clients header width when no clients
+   tools/intel_gpu_top: Fix client layout on first sample period
+   tools/intel_gpu_top: Optimise interactive display a bit
+   tools/intel_gpu_top: Handle narrow terminals more gracefully
+
+ NOTES:
+ For Noble, all the 4 patches will be backported
+ For Mantic, Jammy, only "tools/intel_gpu_top: Handle narrow terminals more
gracefully" will be backported because the others are not applicable to
Jammy/Mantic (related to refactoring that happened after Mantic release)

  [ Test Plan ]

  Run intel_gpu_top inside a console
Resize the console with the mouse to it smallest size

[ Where problems could occur ]

The problem occurs when intel_gpu_top try to draw information on the
  console

  [ Other Info ]

This fix should not cause regression on any other feature.

When resizing the terminal window, intel_gpu_top may crash if the window

  intel_gpu_top: ../tools/intel_gpu_top.c:1202: print_percentage_bar: Assertion

  Abortado

I was able to reproduce this crash with tilix and xterm.

f.underscorify() is correct, f.underscorify(f) is an error that later
meson versions don't like at all.

[Bug 2049714] Re: [RPL-P] igt-gpu-tool enablement

2024-04-09 Thread Hector CAO
@dongwonk : i see that you are probably testing on jammy, that is the
wrong release, the package to be tested is for 24.04 (you can install it
with the daily build ISO).

regarding the networking problem, that is probably proxy problem, a
work-around is to download the debian package at
https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/hectorcao/lp2049714/ubuntu/pool/main/i/intel-
gpu-tools/intel-gpu-tools_1.28-1ubuntu1_amd64.deb , and install it with
dpkg

let me know if you have any further question

2024-03-01 Thread Hector CAO
If qatlib is built on host that has systemd active (not in schroot,
...), qatlib will install the qat.service file in
/usr/lib/systemd/system, we do not use (install) this file for the
package that is why dh_missing complains, the solution i propose is to
just put this file in not-installed

[Bug 1964810] [NEW] Paste figures with spaces should either cut or ignore spaces

2022-03-14 Thread Hector B
Public bug reported:

## Expected behaviour

Numbers with spaces as a thousand separator such as 123 456 copied from
different sources should not generate errors.
Ideally spaces should be either ignored and preserved or cut making 123 456 ->
123456

## Actual behaviour

Numbers with spaces such as 123 456 copied from different sources produce
errors "Malformed expression".
When spaces are manually deleted, the program successfully proceeds.

## Steps to reproduce the behaviour

Start mate-calc.
Copy digits with space as a thousand separator like 123 456.
Paste them in the the program with Ctrl-V
Add + 25 Enter
Confirm error "Malformed expression".

2021-12-19 Thread Hector B
Public bug reported:

Expected behaviour - Russian Rouble currency must be placed AFTER the
value, not before.

# Russian Rouble <> USD

1000 руб. = $13.59
USD <> Russian Rouble

$10 = 736,06 руб.

# Actual behaviour now:

Russian Rouble <> USD

руб. 1000 = $13.59

[Bug 1955348] [NEW] File Properties dialog barely fits into display in width under Russian localization

2021-12-19 Thread Hector B
Public bug reported:

In Russian localization ru_RU.
But could be reproduced in other non-English vocalizations as well.

Open caja, right click on a file and watch tabs of the dialog.dialog are

This file "Properties" dialog (RU: "Свойства архива") displays all possible
tabs in one wide line requiring more than 1550px of width to render the dialog.
Under certain display resolutions utmost left and right sides of the dialog are
not visible.

All dialog's tabs must be visible and easily accessible under any display
resolutions.
If dialog's width exceeds an accepted threshold, ideally the tabs should be
presented in stackable form.
This will allow users seeing all possible tabs/actions.

[Bug 1955340] [NEW] Cannot remove 'Background picture for lock screen:'

2021-12-19 Thread Hector B
Public bug reported:

Open dialog "Screensaver Preferences". Click on "Background picture for lock
screen:", select a file.
Once a file has been selected, there are no obvious ways of removing that file
name.

There must be some way of removing previously chosen file
in the field "Background picture for lock screen:'"
dialog "Screensaver Preferences".

[Bug 1955336] [NEW] mate-volume-control: Speaker testing dialog changes size on pressing "Test" in Russian localization

2021-12-19 Thread Hector B
Public bug reported:

When "Test" button is pressed (RU: "Проверить"), the window "Speaker
testing" (RU: "Проверка динамиков") becomes wider.

Steps to reproduce the behaviour:

In Russian localization "ru_RU".
Start mate-volume-control, click on "Hardware" tab (RU: "Оборудование"), then
on the "Test Speakers" button (RU: "Проверить динамики") below. Click on "Test"
buttons in the new dialog to watch the symptom.
This is not reproduced in English localization.

[Bug 1845362] Re: gnome-font-viewer crashed with signal 5 in _XEventsQueued()

2020-05-15 Thread Hector Fiel
I also can replicate the bug on a clean Ubuntu 20.04 install.

Regarding the workaround, on the first launch from console it crashes,
and subsequent invocations both from console or launcher work properly.

(gnome-font-viewer:9580): Gdk-ERROR **: 13:46:51.807: The program
'gnome-font-viewer' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadShmSeg (invalid shared segment parameter)'.
  (Details: serial 1935 error_code 128 request_code 130 (MIT-SHM) minor_code 5)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

[Bug 1875301] [NEW] Xorg freeze when adding multiple input methods

2020-04-27 Thread Hector Frohlich Cortez
Public bug reported:

I've notice freezes from 1 to 2 seconds on clean installs of Ubuntu 20.04 as
well as on Ubuntu Budgie 20.04 when adding multiple languages input methods.
When running with single input (GB) no freeze occurs, but as soon as another
input is added (not sure is relevant by I've tried PT-BR and FR) the freezing
starts.
Returning to single input method brings system back to normal.

[Bug 1549388] Re: In some rare cases Postfix connect to a wrong MX server

2019-06-02 Thread Hector Martin
Lovely, so Ubuntu did nothing about this nasty bug (sending mail to the
wrong servers (!!!)) for 3 years, when all it required was a simple
package minor version bump, and now 14.04 support has ended and they can
wash their hands.

This kind of nonsense is why I don't recommend Ubuntu.

[Bug 1740576] [NEW] Files ocamlbuildlib.cmxa and unix.cmxa make inconsistent assumptions over implementation Unix

2017-12-30 Thread Hector Garcia de Marina
Public bug reported:

Hi, I do not know whether this bug should be here. From the project
https://github.com/paparazzi/paparazzi , users with Ubuntu 17.10 are
experiencing the following problem

+ ocamlfind ocamlopt unix.cmxa -I /usr/lib/ocaml/ocamlbuild
/usr/lib/ocaml/ocamlbuild/ocamlbuildlib.cmxa -linkpkg myocamlbuild.ml
/usr/lib/ocaml/ocamlbuild/ocamlbuild.cmx -o myocamlbuild
File "myocamlbuild.ml", line 1:
Error: Files /usr/lib/ocaml/ocamlbuild/ocamlbuildlib.cmxa
   and /usr/lib/ocaml/unix.cmxa
make inconsistent assumptions over implementation Unix
Command exited with code 2.

The maintainers of Paparazzi believe that this is an issue of the Ubuntu
distribution. In fact, it seems that other distributions are facing a
similar problem https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1481916

** Affects: ocaml (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Summary changed:

- make inconsistent assumptions over implementation Unix
+ Files ocamlbuildlib.cmxa and unix.cmxa make inconsistent assumptions over
