[Bug 1520519] Re: ASUS ROG GL552 TouchPad not detected
Vishneda on rog.asus.com forum reported touchpad working with kernel 4.3.3 but i2c_designware bus support must be compiled as kernel module: > I am able to boot with 4.2.x and 4.3.x. However, I am using 4.3.3 and have > been since mid December when it came out. > If you boot with nolapic, you won't have full use of the hardware and cpu threading will be disabled. I had no issues using the machine this way, but it was only supporting one thread of cpu activity instead of 8 as it should be. Using the kernel parameters I provided, I am booting various distributions (CentOS, Fedora, Arch, Elementary as examples) with no issues. > I do have new information to share. Fedora recently rolled out 4.3.3 as a kernel support and I upgraded to this today. With the new Fedora 4.3.3 kernel, I have full use of the touchpad . The reason is actually something I missed/didn't know about the hardware under the hood. In order to get the touchpad working, the i2c_designware bus support must be compiled as a kernel module. I didn't have that in previous builds and thus, I was unable to use the touchpad. As of tonight, I am using the touchpad, all function keys, and full hardware support on this machine running on Linux! > If you can tolerate (or like) Fedora, I would recommned getting the Fedora 23 distribution and installing this on your machine. In order to install, you may need to use the "4.2.x" kernel parameters I provided above. Once you get it booted, you can run "dnf update" and upgrade to the latest kernel, which will be 4.3.3. From there, you will need to use the "4.3.x" kernel parameters I provided above. Using this distro and the parameters I listed, this machine is functioning quite well on Linux. > I hope this helps. I will check back in a couple of days to see if it worked for you. Still happens in Ubuntu 12.04 amd64 : - duplicity 0.6.18-0ubuntu3.5 - python-paramiko 1.7.7.1-2ubuntu1 Workaround is to use rsync:// backend instead, which is (if available) better than ssh/scp anyway. rsync:// should be able to resume transfer in the middle of the file, so if you are backing up large files over semi-reliable network, I would prefer that. - Aleksandar Ivanisevic (http://serverfault.com/a/92621) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/965017 Title: New SFTP backend uses outdated paramiko, breaks connection to server even with --use-scp To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/duplicity/+bug/965017/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I reinstalled couchdb 9. CouchDB 1.4.0 now starts As this is a development machine, I didn't bother trying to restore my CouchDB 1.2 data files anyway since by then I was already tired of dealing with this. ;-) ** Changed in: couchdb (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1262220 Title: CouchDB crashes at startup: {init terminating in do_boot,{{badmatch,{error,{bad_return,{{couch_app,start,[normal To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/couchdb/+bug/1262220/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Tearing still happens with xv/x11 due to vsync not working properly on Sandy Bridge yet, even with compositing disabled. - https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/755841/comments/89 I confirm that this workaround works on my system with Intel/ATI Hybrid graphics, using Intel graphics as active. I'm in KDE, before playing video I will switch off KDE compositing (Alt+Shift+F2) then play video using mplayer with gl output. No tearing at all! :-) Finally, I can watch movies in great shape on my 32 HDMI TV ^_^ Using VLC still tears, because when with VLC-GLX the video is corrupted, and with XV there's still video tearing even with compositing disabled. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/755841 Title: [sandybridge] Graphics tearing when playing video To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-core/+bug/755841/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 783389] Re: HP LaserJet 1000/1005/1018/1020/P1005/P1006/... (on USB) stopped working in 11.04, worked in 10.04
Printer sharing also doesn't work, I'm not sure if it's due to this bug or another. How to reproduce: 1. On the host computer directly connected to the LaserJet, apply the fixes as per comment #4, #5, #7 above. 2. Verify that the host computer can print to the LaserJet successfully. 3. On the host computer, enable print sharing. (System Administration Printing Server Settings Publish shared printers connected to this system) and share the LaserJet if it's not shared yet. 4. On another computer, enable shared printer discovery (System Administration Printing Server Settings Show printers shared by other systems). HP LaserJet should show up in a few seconds. 5. Print through that other computer to that LaserJet, it fails. When the LaserJet printer is inspected on the client computer, the Device URI says file:///dev/null A workaround is to add printer manually, and select Network Printer Internet Printing Protocol (ipp), then configure : (for example) Host: 192.168.66.7 Queue: /printers/HP-LaserJet-P1005 This works, but is not practical for many number of computers. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/783389 Title: HP LaserJet 1000/1005/1018/1020/P1005/P1006/... [Bug 138834] Re: Bluetooth (OBEX Push) should remove devices not in range
To remove Bluetooth devices manually: -- I had to remove devices manually. The gnome applet asks hcid daemon for known devices. hcid database is on /var/lib/bluetooth/[YOUR-DONGLE-MAC-ADDRESS] . I had to remove lines from the files sdp, manufacturers, features, classes, lastused, lastseen, names. If you don't know what mac addresses to remove, the names file can help you because associates a mac address with a device name. Note before killing telepathy-haze.. changing the username works to connect to another YM account, but when I changed the username back to the problematic username, it gives Disconnected - Network Error again immediately (without any sign of progress of actually trying to connect to the network). $ aptitude show empathy telepathy-haze Package: empathy State: installed Automatically installed: no Version: 2.32.1-0ubuntu1 Priority: optional Section: gnome Maintainer: Ubuntu Core Developers ubuntu-devel-disc...@lists.ubuntu.com Uncompressed Size: 2.458k Depends: libatk1.0-0 (= 1.29.3), libc6 (= 2.7), libcairo2 (= 1.2.4), libcanberra-gtk0 (= 0.4), libcanberra0 (= 0.2), libdbus-1-3 (= 1.0.2), libdbus-glib-1-2 (= 0.78), libdbusmenu-glib1 (= 0.3.12), libebook1.2-9 (= 2.30.3), libedataserver1.2-13 (= 2.30.3), libenchant1c2a (= 1.6), libfolks-telepathy0 (= 0.1.9), libfolks0 (= 0.1.15), libfontconfig1 (= 2.8.0), libfreetype6 (= 2.2.1), libgconf2-4 (= 2.31.1), libgcr0 (= 2.26.0), libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 (= 2.21.6), libgee2 (= 0.5.2), libglib2.0-0 (= 2.25.16), libgnome-keyring0 (= 2.26.0), libgnutls26 (= 2.7.14-0), libgp11-0 (= 2.24), libgstfarsight0.10-0 (= 0.0.1), libgstreamer-plugins-base0.10-0 (= 0.10.0), libgstreamer0.10-0 (= 0.10.4), libgtk2.0-0 (= 2.21.8), libindicate-gtk2 (= 0.2.2), libindicate4 (= 0.3.3), liblaunchpad-integration1 (= 0.1.17), libnm-glib2 (= 0.8~a~git.20090826t185111.79489be), libnotify1 (= 0.5.0), libnotify1-gtk2.10, libpango1.0-0 (= 1.18.0), libpng12-0 (= 1.2.13-4), libsoup2.4-1 (= 2.4.0), libtasn1-3 (= 1.6-0), libtelepathy-farsight0 (= 0.0.6), libtelepathy-glib0 (= 0.11.15), libtelepathy-logger1 (= 0.1.2), libunique-1.0-0 (= 1.0.0), libwebkit-1.0-2 (= 1.1.15), libx11-6, libxml2 (= 2.7.4), zlib1g (= 1:1.1.4), empathy-common (= 2.32.1-0ubuntu1), telepathy-mission-control-5, gnome-icon-theme (= 2.30.0), dbus-x11, telepathy-logger Recommends: telepathy-gabble, telepathy-salut, libdconf0, gvfs-backends, telepathy-haze, telepathy-butterfly, nautilus-sendto-empathy Suggests: telepathy-idle, vino Breaks: telepathy-butterfly ( 0.5.10) Replaces: libempathy-gtk-common Description: GNOME multi-protocol chat and call client Instant messaging program supporting text, voice, video, file transfers and inter-application communication over many different protocols, including: AIM, MSN, Google Talk (Jabber/XMPP), Facebook, Yahoo!, Salut, Gadu-Gadu, Groupwise, ICQ and QQ.
