[Bug 1908921] Re: No system tray detected by hp-systray

2021-03-08 Thread Hendy Irawan
I'm affected, using Ubuntu 20.04.2. Happens to CopyQ and Flameshot if
set on autostart.

Workaround as given by reporter, is WORKING!:

sudo apt install gnome-shell-extension-appindicator=33-1
sudo apt-mark hold gnome-shell-extension-appindicator

Thank you ~s-bandyo1 ! :)

[Bug 1520519] Re: ASUS ROG GL552 TouchPad not detected

2016-02-10 Thread Hendy Irawan
Vishneda on rog.asus.com forum reported touchpad working with kernel
4.3.3 but i2c_designware bus support must be compiled as kernel module:

> I am able to boot with 4.2.x and 4.3.x. However, I am using 4.3.3 and have
> been since mid December when it came out.

> If you boot with nolapic, you won't have full use of the hardware and
cpu threading will be disabled. I had no issues using the machine this
way, but it was only supporting one thread of cpu activity instead of 8
as it should be. Using the kernel parameters I provided, I am booting
various distributions (CentOS, Fedora, Arch, Elementary as examples)
with no issues.

> I do have new information to share. Fedora recently rolled out 4.3.3
as a kernel support and I upgraded to this today. With the new Fedora
4.3.3 kernel, I have full use of the touchpad . The reason is actually
something I missed/didn't know about the hardware under the hood. In
order to get the touchpad working, the i2c_designware bus support must
be compiled as a kernel module. I didn't have that in previous builds
and thus, I was unable to use the touchpad. As of tonight, I am using
the touchpad, all function keys, and full hardware support on this
machine running on Linux!

> If you can tolerate (or like) Fedora, I would recommned getting the
Fedora 23 distribution and installing this on your machine. In order to
install, you may need to use the "4.2.x" kernel parameters I provided
above. Once you get it booted, you can run "dnf update" and upgrade to
the latest kernel, which will be 4.3.3. From there, you will need to use
the "4.3.x" kernel parameters I provided above. Using this distro and
the parameters I listed, this machine is functioning quite well on
Linux.

> I hope this helps. I will check back in a couple of days to see if it
worked for you.

[Bug 1460038] [NEW] libarchive extracts zip as corrupt files but no warning or error

2015-05-29 Thread Hendy Irawan
Public bug reported:

The attached zip file is produced by AirDroid and can be extracted
successfully by unzip 6.00, ASUS File Manager for Android, and Windows
8.1.

However libarchive13 version 3.1.2-7ubuntu2.1, in Linux Mint KDE 17.1
amd64, while extracts the files without any warning or error, results in
corrupt files. These are all JPG files which cannot be viewed when
extracted by Ark.

Tested using both:

* Ark 2.19 (4:4.14.2-0ubuntu1~ubuntu14.04~ppa1)
* bsdcpio 3.1.2-7ubuntu2.1

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Extract

Actual Results:
Corrupt JPGs

Expected Results:
Proper JPGs

For complete thread/diagnostics history please see
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=348357

[Bug 965017] Re: New SFTP backend uses outdated paramiko, breaks connection to server even with --use-scp

2014-10-22 Thread Hendy Irawan
Still happens in Ubuntu 12.04 amd64 :

- duplicity 0.6.18-0ubuntu3.5
- python-paramiko 1.7.7.1-2ubuntu1

Workaround is to use rsync:// backend instead, which is (if available)
better than ssh/scp anyway.

rsync:// should be able to resume transfer in the middle of the file, so if
you are backing up large files over semi-reliable network, I would prefer that.

[Bug 30842] Re: Trash not emptying on kubuntu !

2014-07-03 Thread Hendy Irawan
@MicroPor:

You shouldn't need to delete entire ~/.local/share/Trash, but only
~/.local/share/Trash/metadata file.

But in can you already deleted ~/.local/share/Trash, you can make it
work again by Dolphin Settings Trash tweak the setting and back
again so you can click OK. Now Trash should work again.

[Bug 1326255] [NEW] Tomcat7 cannot find the libtcnative-1.so Native APR library file

2014-06-04 Thread Hendy Irawan
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu versions prior to 14.04 LTS, installing libtcnative-1 and
configuring server.xml as follows:

Listener className=org.apache.catalina.core.AprLifecycleListener

is sufficient to enable APR.

However in Ubuntu 14.04, Tomcat v7.0.52-1 still cannot find the APR
library:

Apr 30, 2014 1:56:32 PM org.apache.catalina.core.AprLifecycleListener init
INFO: The APR based Apache Tomcat Native library which allows optimal
performance in production environments was not found on the java.library.path:
/usr/java/packages/lib/amd64:/usr/lib64:/lib64:/lib:/usr/lib

As Ubuntu packages go, libtcnative-1 should work out-of-the-box without
additional steps (apart from server.xml change, which is a Tomcat
configuration, not a distro thing)

Workaround is to symlink the library manually inside /usr/lib :

sudo ln -sv /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libtcnative-1.so /usr/lib/

[Bug 1262220] Re: CouchDB crashes at startup: {init terminating in do_boot, {{badmatch, {error, {bad_return, {{couch_app, start, [normal

2013-12-19 Thread Hendy Irawan
For some packages in main, yes Linux Mint maintains their own. But not
universe :

ceefour@hendy:~ aptitude show couchdb
Package: couchdb
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 1.4.0-0ubuntu1
Priority: optional
Section: universe/misc
Maintainer: Ubuntu Developers ubuntu-devel-disc...@lists.ubuntu.com
Architecture: all
Uncompressed Size: 96.3 k
Depends: couchdb-bin (= 1.4.0-0ubuntu1), adduser, upstart, sysv-rc (=
2.88dsf-24) | file-rc (= 0.8.16)
Replaces: couchdb-bin (= 1.0.1-0ubuntu18), couchdb-bin (= 1.0.1-0ubuntu18)
Description: RESTful document oriented database - system-wide instance
Apache CouchDB is a distributed, fault-tolerant and schema-free
document-oriented database accessible via a RESTful HTTP/JSON API. Among other
features, it provides robust, incremental replication with bi-directional
conflict detection and resolution, and is queryable and indexable using a
table-oriented view engine with JavaScript acting as the default view
definition language.

CouchDB is written in Erlang, but can be easily accessed from any environment
that provides means to make HTTP requests. There are a multitude of
third-party client libraries that make this even easier for a variety of
programming languages and environments.

This package adds the Upstart job and other items needed for a system-wide
CouchDB instance that is started at boot.
Homepage: http://couchdb.apache.org/

This was what happened:

1. I installed CouchDB 1.4.0 on Mint 16 (Ubuntu 13.10)
2. I replaced the /etc/couchdb and /var/lib/couchdb from my CouchDB 1.2 files
(from Ubuntu 13.04)
3. CouchDB 1.4.0 won't start
4. I purged couchdb (only), then deleted /etc/couchdb and /var/lib/couchdb
5. I reinstalled couchdb
6. CouchDB 1.4.0 still won't start
7. I purged couchdb, couchdb-common, and couchdb-bin
8. I reinstalled couchdb
9. CouchDB 1.4.0 now starts

As this is a development machine, I didn't bother trying to restore my
CouchDB 1.2 data files anyway since by then I was already tired of
dealing with this. ;-)

As this isn't a bug (I don't (yet?) have a need for upgrading from 1.2)
I've marked this bug as Invalid.

Although my opinion is, CouchDB currently has one of the most confusing
error messages compared to the rest of database apps...

is there existing bug report for this? using couchdb 1.4.0-0ubuntu1

Spoke too soon, I previously only purged 'couchdb' package.

After *actually* purging couchdb*, by purging 3 packages: couchdb,

work. yay! :)

2013-08-30 Thread Hendy Irawan
Is this fixed for Ubuntu 12.10 ?

See bug #1088687

It seems the bug still exists, tomcat7 unable to use APR.

[Bug 1080360] Re: [drm:__gen6_gt_force_wake_mt_get] *ERROR* Timed out waiting for forcewake old ack to clear.

2013-08-27 Thread Hendy Irawan
This error message seems to be completely gone after upgrading from
default raring kernel (3.8.0.29.47) to the saucy one:

although with the saucy kernel I got a strange dmesg : (where should I
report this?)

[Bug 755841] Re: [sandybridge] Graphics tearing when playing video

2012-01-12 Thread Hendy Irawan
You should not experience tearing if you disable compositing and use gl
or vaapi output. Tearing still happens with xv/x11 due to vsync not
working properly on Sandy Bridge yet, even with compositing disabled.

intel/+bug/755841/comments/89

I confirm that this workaround works on my system with Intel/ATI Hybrid
graphics, using Intel graphics as active. I'm in KDE, before playing
video I will switch off KDE compositing (Alt+Shift+F2) then play video
using mplayer with gl output. No tearing at all! :-) Finally, I can
watch movies in great shape on my 32 HDMI TV ^_^

Using VLC still tears, because when with VLC-GLX the video is corrupted,
and with XV there's still video tearing even with compositing disabled.

[Bug 783389] Re: HP LaserJet 1000/1005/1018/1020/P1005/P1006/... (on USB) stopped working in 11.04, worked in 10.04

2011-06-16 Thread Hendy Irawan
Printer sharing also doesn't work, I'm not sure if it's due to this bug
or another.

How to reproduce:
1. On the host computer directly connected to the LaserJet, apply the fixes as
per comment #4, #5, #7 above.
2. Verify that the host computer can print to the LaserJet successfully.
3. On the host computer, enable print sharing. (System Administration
Printing Server Settings Publish shared printers connected to this
system) and share the LaserJet if it's not shared yet.
4. On another computer, enable shared printer discovery (System
Administration Printing Server Settings Show printers shared by other
systems). HP LaserJet should show up in a few seconds.
5. Print through that other computer to that LaserJet, it fails.

When the LaserJet printer is inspected on the client computer, the
Device URI says file:///dev/null

A workaround is to add printer manually, and select Network Printer Internet
Printing Protocol (ipp), then configure : (for example)
Host: 192.168.66.7
Queue: /printers/HP-LaserJet-P1005

This works, but is not practical for many number of computers.

[Bug 775950] Re: fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed! upon boot (always reproducible on battery only, but sometimes on AC too)

2011-06-15 Thread Hendy Irawan
Also happens like this:
1. Turn on the laptop on AC
2. Suspend the laptop
3. Unplug from AC
4. Resume the laptop (on battery only)

Then the laptop will lock up (and in my Lenovo Ideapad Z360 the CPU fan is
spinning very loud).
The laptop then needs to be powered off, losing all data and corrupting the
filesystem in the process. :-(

[Bug 775950] Re: fixing recursive fault but reboot is needed! upon boot (usually without battery, but sometimes on AC)

2011-06-07 Thread Hendy Irawan
I'm using Lenovo Ideapad Z360 and reproducible on battery. But sometimes
also on AC power.

To reproduce on AC power:
1. Power on the laptop on battery (without AC power)
2. Experience Ubuntu failed booting with fixing recursive fault (fan is also
turning on highly)
3. Connect the AC power
4. Reboot the computer... Ubuntu still failed to boot.

If I turn off the laptop, while the AC power is connected, then power on
again Ubuntu boots successfully.

[Bug 793380] [NEW] Synchronization failed via Ubuntu One / Tomboy Web with exception: Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute

2011-06-06 Thread Hendy Irawan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

I have ~460 notes, and synchronizing doesn't work with the following
messages (tomboy --debug) :

[DEBUG 12:21:41.998] Saving 'Flowchart Konsultasi Laptop'...
[ERROR 12:21:41.998] Synchronization failed with the following exception:

  at Tomboy.Sync.SyncManager.SynchronizationThread () [0x0] in filename

I do have many special characters on my notes (I save a lot of XML code,
Java code, PHP code, etc.)

Deleted the offending notes again. Retried, and it still failed with
yet another different set of surrounding notes:

If there is a way to delete all 400+ notes on Ubuntu One quickly I would
have done it.

[Bug 793380] Re: Synchronization failed via Ubuntu One / Tomboy Web with exception: Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute

2011-06-06 Thread Hendy Irawan
I found how to delete all notes from the server:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/FAQ/HowCanIDeleteAllMyTomboyNotesFromTheServer

I also tried to re-authenticate Tomboy with the steps here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuOne/Bugs

Sure enough, Ubuntu One notes are wiped out, and tomboy is now uploading
all (backed up, local) notes to Ubuntu One server.

However the process failed with another exception:

[Bug 788062] [NEW] Tomboy crashes when Register Computer with Ubuntu One synchronization

2011-05-25 Thread Hendy Irawan
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: tomboy

Steps to reproduce (on my configuration, at least) :
1. Go to Tomboy Preferences
2. On Synchronization tab, Local Folder is selected. Choose Ubuntu One,
it says Already registered.
3. Click Save, it will ask to synchronize now, click No.
4. Click Clear, then click Register computer.

Tomboy crashes with the following :

[Bug 568611] Re: Screen brightness control fails on Dell Studio 1558

2011-04-05 Thread Hendy Irawan
Dear Kamal,

Could you please also look at Bug #538256 ?

It's the exact same issue but for Lenovo IdeaPad net/notebooks including
Z360.

Your kernel PPA works but only in GNOME. I use Ubuntu Maverick 10.10 +
KDE 4.6.0 from KDE PPA and brightness control doesn't work at all.

Currently works for me on Lenovo IdeaPad Z360, Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick
with GNOME. Doesn't work on KDE 4.6 for me.

[Bug 138834] Re: Bluetooth (OBEX Push) should remove devices not in range

2011-03-20 Thread Hendy Irawan
To remove Bluetooth devices manually:
--

I had to remove devices manually. The gnome applet asks hcid daemon for
known devices.

hcid database is on /var/lib/bluetooth/[YOUR-DONGLE-MAC-ADDRESS] . There are
several text files for several purposes: remove the line matching the mac
address of the old bluetooth device on each file and you're done.
I had to remove lines from the files sdp, manufacturers, features, classes,
lastused, lastseen, names.
If you don't know what mac addresses to remove, the names file can help you
because associates a mac address with a device name.
Remember: these files must be edited as root.

[Bug 509721] Re: empathy reports network error and requires killing telepathy-butterfly

2011-02-09 Thread Hendy Irawan
Also happens with telepathy-haze (Yahoo).

After killing telepathy-haze, the Yahoo account works again.

Note before killing telepathy-haze.. changing the username works to
connect to another YM account, but when I changed the username back to
the problematic username, it gives Disconnected - Network Error again
immediately (without any sign of progress of actually trying to connect
to the network).
