Hi Omer, thanks for the answer. So, looks like it is not related to Unity, Ubuntu also freezed after set different resolutions (or plug a second screen after boot) even on Gnome Shell. [Bug 943308] Re: System freezes with two monitors set to have diferent resolutions or second monitor pluged after boot.
So, new daily build, new try, same result, no luck. Ubuntu simple refuses to accept a second screen (the first one is the notebook screen). I tryed with different screens (another monitor, two diferent tv's, always trough the vga port), no luck. If I boot Ubuntu with the second screen plugged it actually load the desktop mirrored, if I set different resolutions (or even set the screens to not mirror each other) the system freezes completly. If I plug the second screen after boot, the system freezes too. Don't know what else I can do. [Bug 943308] [NEW] Black screen's with two monitors set to have diferent resolutions
Public bug reported: I made a comment on a similar problem that is marked as "fix released" (https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/912387) but I'm not sure that anyone actually read it and the problem persist for more then 3 weeks now so, I'm reporting it again. Also, I'm not sure that the problem is with the Unity package, it may be with the Intel drivers or Kernel, don't really know much to keep theorizing. So, that's what is happening. I was using the 12.04 daily image from weeks ago on my Dell Inspiron 1545 and a external AOC monitor without any problem. After an update I could't see the desktop anymore. I could get to the login screen and type my password, after that the screens goes black and the mouse pointer freezes. I dualbooted on Windows and downloaded a more recent live daily image, fire it up trough my pendrive and get the desktop with the both screen's mirrored, as it should be by default. After that I tried to change it, disabled the mirror images and set maximum resolution for both screens (1366x768 on the notebook screen, 1600x900 on external AOC screen) but the outcome was the same, both screens goes black and the mouse pointer freezes. Since then the problem is keep happening. I'm trying with daily images twice a week now and getting the same output. As soon as I set both screens to act independently and with highest resolution possible for both, the screens goes black and altough I can see the mouse pointer, it is freezed.
