[Bug 1574125] Re: suspend not working after upgrade

2016-05-21 Thread Henrique Santos
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1566302 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1566302

Same issue with a HP Pavillion dv6.
Kernel 4.4.21 and 4.4.22 power management didn't work on suspend and general
power management behaviour was weird and buggy (disk shutdown but didn't wake
up and black screen after suspend timeout).

Solved by now with a kernel upgrade to 4.6.0. Everything seems to work
now. Excelent power management on batteries.

Refer:

http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2016/05/install-linux-
kernel-4-6-ubuntu-16-04/

Thanks

Hi Omer, thanks for the answer.

So, looks like it is not related to Unity, Ubuntu also freezed after set
different resolutions (or plug a second screen after boot) even on Gnome
Shell.

What can I do next?

[Bug 943308] Re: System freezes with two monitors set to have diferent resolutions or second monitor pluged after boot.

2012-03-19 Thread Thiago Henrique Santos
So, new daily build, new try, same result, no luck.

Ubuntu simple refuses to accept a second screen (the first one is the
notebook screen). I tryed with different screens (another monitor, two
diferent tv's, always trough the vga port), no luck.

If I boot Ubuntu with the second screen plugged it actually load the
desktop mirrored, if I set different resolutions (or even set the
screens to not mirror each other) the system freezes completly.

If I plug the second screen after boot, the system freezes too.

Don't know what else I can do.

Ubuntu 11.10 works perfectly on the same conditions, can't understand
this regression.

[Bug 943308] [NEW] Black screen's with two monitors set to have diferent resolutions

2012-02-29 Thread Thiago Henrique Santos
Public bug reported:

I made a comment on a similar problem that is marked as "fix released"
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/912387) but
I'm not sure that anyone actually read it and the problem persist for
more then 3 weeks now so, I'm reporting it again.

Also, I'm not sure that the problem is with the Unity package, it may be
with the Intel drivers or Kernel, don't really know much to keep
theorizing.

So, that's what is happening.

I was using the 12.04 daily image from weeks ago on my Dell Inspiron
1545 and a external AOC monitor without any problem. After an update I
could't see the desktop anymore. I could get to the login screen and
type my password, after that the screens goes black and the mouse
pointer freezes.

I dualbooted on Windows and downloaded a more recent live daily image,
fire it up trough my pendrive and get the desktop with the both screen's
mirrored, as it should be by default. After that I tried to change it,
disabled the mirror images and set maximum resolution for both screens
(1366x768 on the notebook screen, 1600x900 on external AOC screen) but
the outcome was the same, both screens goes black and the mouse pointer
freezes.

Since then the problem is keep happening. I'm trying with daily images
twice a week now and getting the same output. As soon as I set both
screens to act independently and with highest resolution possible for
both, the screens goes black and altough I can see the mouse pointer, it
is freezed.

[Bug 912387] Re: [arrandale] Black screen on login regression (oneiric->precise) with external displayport monitor

2012-02-24 Thread Thiago Henrique Santos
I'm having a similar problem with my Dell Inspiron 1545 (Intel Mobile
Graphics GM45).

It show the login screen and mirror the notebook screen and the external
monitor. If I set the mirroring off and maximum resolution to bough
screens (notebook screen: 1355x768, external monitor: 1600x900) bougth
screens goes black and altough the mouse pointer is still visible, it
can't be moved.

I get back to Ubuntu 11.10, but can reproduce the bug with the live USB
stick version.

How can I help to give more information about the bug?

Thanks.
