This bug fix will reduce the wasting time trying to install 64bit Ubuntu

existing UEFI Windows 8 booting.

Adding the warning is really helpful in this case.

BTW, you may use the same PPA directly by modifying the software source line

[Bug 202052] Re: Installer should allow mirror choice

2013-10-10 Thread Henry Lin
It's my problem too.

The default mirror ubiquity chooses (tw.archive.ubuntu.com) is NOT the
fastest mirror in Taiwan(which is free.nchc.org.tw AFAICS), pull
packages from defaults certainly takes more time to install and I'm
forced to disable network connection to make it more quickly.

[Bug 1106283] Re: [13.04]nautilus crashed with SIGABRT in g_assertion_message() when trying to open file/folder's property dialog as root where file/folder belongs to user with Unicode CJK name.

2013-09-13 Thread Henry Lin
** Description changed:

I tried to move a file(which is the lastpass installer tarball
lplinux.tar.bz2 from http://lastpass.com ) from another user's home directory
to mine download folder(Which as been converted to ~/下載 in Traditional
Chinese), then tried to change its UID GID to me...as root
  UID changed successfully
When I clicked on the GID selection box...it hangs for a few second and
crashed:(

To move further, I tried to open the property dialog of my home
  directory(/home/Vdragon)... crashed too.

It seems that any of file/directory belongs to me is affected. 100%
  reproducible.

- Before nautilus crashed, a error window showes instantly(than vanished).
+ Before nautilus crashed, a error window showes instantly(then vanished).
I tried to capture it as the attachment.

I suspect this issue is related to I used UTF-8 Chinese characters(林博仁) as
my ... name
  $ getent passwd Vdragon
  Vdragon:x:1001:1001:林博仁,,,:/home/Vdragon:/bin/bash

then nautilus tried to grab my ...name for displaying UID, GID of my
  file/folder...then BANG

There will be no issue if I don't execute nautilus as root then see my
file's properties.(however nautilus won't try to show the UID refers to
  who in this case)

[Bug 1199059] Re: A2DP audio sink devices failed to work with bluetoothd : Unable to select SEP in system log.

2013-09-11 Thread Henry Lin
Comment #7 by Erik is a workaround but not a all-time solution(this
requires HF(S)P/A2DP dual profile device, but there's bluetooth speaker
didn't support HF(S)P profile)

Comment #9 mentioned bug #1179801, which I suspect it is not the exact
same issue.

If there's no input method of your language based on ibus you can try
other desktop environment besides Unity(KDE, XFCE, etc.) as a
workaround.

2013-08-01 Thread Henry Lin
I don't this it is an issue, you **should** execute any application
which will write files in your home directory by sudo -i/gksudo/kdesudo

Running application name as root with HOME environmental variable still
points to your own HOME directory will make application name create files in
your home directory which, of course can't be modified later if you run
application name by YOURSELF and cause problem.

The problem, in particular, you may break your application or even the entire X
session!

Fix typos, ambiguous text in #15

I don't think it is an issue, you **should** execute any application which will
write files in your home directory by sudo -i/gksudo/kdesudo

Running application name as root with HOME environmental variable
still points to your own HOME directory will make application name
create files **as root:root** in your home directory which, of course
can't be properly accessed later if you run application name by
YOURSELF and cause problem.

The problem, including but not limited to, you may break your application or
even the entire X session!

- Constitutionally, the ROC government has claimed sovereignty over all of
China, in a definition that includes mainland China and Outer Mongolia, as
well as Taiwan,[14] but has not made retaking mainland China a political goal
since 1992.[15] However, the government's stance on defining its political
position largely depends on which political coalition is in charge (See
Politics below). Meanwhile, the PRC also asserts itself to be the sole legal
representation of China and claims Taiwan to be under its sovereignty, denying
the status and existence of ROC as a sovereign state. The PRC has threatened
the use of military force as a response to any formal declaration of Taiwanese
independence, or if it deems peaceful reunification no longer possible.[16]
Relations between Taiwan and China as well as issues of national identity
within the country are important factors in Taiwanese politics and a cause of
social and political division among political parties and their respective
supporters.

I'm not quite remember all the process, but I sure tried re-connecting
dongle, re-pairing, and re-setuping the A2DP device a few times.

I can successfully pair the A2DP device but It just not working.

Here's the hcidump and syslog diff of just try to connect the device

Jul 11 17:01:02 Vubuntu bluetoothd[8761]: Unable to select SEP
^C
Vdragon@Vubuntu ~ %

Then my bluetooth manager(blueman) returned the message 連線錯誤:Stream
setup failed right away...

I'm pretty sure 12.10 doesn't have this problem, so it might be a
regression.

[Bug 1174010] Re: [packaging]virtualbox-guest-dkms(or dkms) should depend on linux-headers

2013-05-16 Thread Henry Lin
@tjaalton
There is chance where user didn't install linux-flavor before installing
dkms, no whether it is installed by ubuntu by default.
If dkms really depend on linux-headers package to work properly, it _should_
list it as dependency.

I couldn't figure out why LP:960770 got to this decision though...

@Brian Murray
I can't find this package on my system.
If anything didn't get wrong I only install kde-standard to install KDE, even
kubuntu-* is not installed.

Currently I found that only if Update Manager found no update will
display this message. If there is update not applied Update Manager
will not show distribution upgrade information.

[Bug 1174010] Re: [packaging]virtualbox-guest-dkms(or dkms) should depend on linux-headers

2013-04-30 Thread Henry Lin
@Gerfried Fuchs
Very helpful! Appreciated :)
I checked again and finally found the fact that I should check
http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal-updates/dkms
instead of
http://packages.ubuntu.com/quantal/dkms
so the dependency info on the site is exactly same with the info found on local
system

The first screenshot in captured on a 13.04 Virtualbox VM due to the following

My current workaround is to install and use GDM instead.
# apt-get install gdm

Currently its both beautiful and working, however there's no Remote
login function.
