Something's certainly not right with that key, though I can't yet tell whether this has an influence on the issue (or the other one in bug 944701): *) Focus Effect → 'N/A' This sets the key '/apps/compiz-1/plugins/animation/screen0/options/focus_effects' to '[animation:Fade]'. The effect seems to work, maybe causes the bug. It's the Unity compiz profile default. *) Focus Effect → 'Fade' Sets the key '/apps/compiz-1/plugins/animation/screen0/options/focus_effects' to '[animation:Focus Fade]'. The effect doesn't seem to work correctly, I get a flicker on every focus change. Before this bug expires, I'll try to explain it again using the attached image. The launcher has two scroll areas in each direction: a slower one (green) and a faster one (red). The faster one is only one or two pixels high (didn't check the code), which works fine for the bottom one as one cannot overshot. [Bug 908564] Re: Notification bubbles not disappearing when hovered by mouse pointer
I'm not exactly sure what I'm supposed to see, so here's what I get with an up-to-date system: * When the notification is created near the pointer, I can move the pointer above the notification without any fade-out; the notification will stay on-screen until I move the pointer away for a while (as shown in the attached clip). * When the notification is created without the pointer being anywhere close to it, it will fade out when I entered; the notification will stay on-screen until I move the pointer away for a while (also shown in the clip). * When the notification is created underneath the pointer, it's solid and will time out. If fade out and stay on-screen is the intended behavior when the pointer is above the notification, then there are two bugs: 1. You can enter the notification from a close range without seeing any fade-out, and 2. Notifications created underneath the pointer neither fade out, nor stay on-screen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/908564 Title: Notification bubbles not disappearing when hovered by mouse pointer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/notify-osd/+bug/908564/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 925895] Re: Ambiance sub-menus light like Radiance after latest light-themes update.
Jordon, comment #27 clearly states that right-click menus are intended to be light, and the light sub-menus have been fixed in the meantime. It's fine if you disagree with design decisions, but a bug report is the wrong place for discussion. Every time you post something, all subscribed users might get notified by mail, which can be quite annoying in cases like this, where the bug is fixed. [Bug 953892] [NEW] Fails to run as unprivileged user
Public bug reported: [Originally posted to the systemtap mailing list: http://sourceware.org/ml/systemtap/2012-q1/msg00239.html] I have a problem with running SystemTap as unprivileged user. Executing the following probe as root works fine[0]: stap -e 'probe vfs.read {printf(read performed\n); exit()}' However, running it as user (in 'stapusr' and stapdev' groups) fails[1]. Doing the same in Fedora 17 Alpha succeeds. The module gets loaded, but 'stapio' is never run, and the removal of the module seems to fail as well, as it's still loaded when 'stap' exits. All the suggested config options are set in the Ubuntu kernel[2] (except of CONFIG_UTRACE, though that's not necessary for that test I guess). There are no dmesg errors (see working[3] and failing[4] -DDEBUG_TRANS output). What I tried: * A tailored 3.3-rc5 vanilla kernel with UTRACE patched in, same result. * Disabled AppArmor, no joy. * Tested the 3/3/2012 snapshot of SystemTap. That slightly changed the output but not the end result[5]. * Tested a vanilla 3.3-rc5 kernel with the Fedora 17 Alpha kernel config[6], which failed too. Colin King's first idea: I suspect it is some user space foo config that we're missing - would be interesting to reveal that foo. :-) 0: Working as root: http://paste.ubuntu.com/871163/ 1: Failing as user: http://paste.ubuntu.com/871165/ 2: Ubuntu kernel config: http://paste.ubuntu.com/871166/ 3: 1.6 dmesg working: http://paste.ubuntu.com/871168/ Snapshot dmesg working: http://paste.ubuntu.com/871169/ 4: 1.6 dmesg failing: http://paste.ubuntu.com/871172/ Snapshot dmesg failing: http://paste.ubuntu.com/871173/ 5: Ubuntu with snapshot: http://paste.ubuntu.com/871190/ 6: Fedora kernel config: http://paste.ubuntu.com/871175/ ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: systemtap (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-18.29-generic 3.2.9 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-18-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.94.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Mar 13 11:15:38 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Beta amd64 (20110901) SourcePackage: systemtap UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: systemtap (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/953892 Title: Fails to run as unprivileged user To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemtap/+bug/953892/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 954590] Re: GLib-CRITICAL warning when setting a solid color as background
The problem seems to come from 20_migrate_background_uri.patch, which adds an URI check of the value of 'picture-uri'. ** Patch added: 20_migrate_background_uri.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/954590/+attachment/2866650/+files/20_migrate_background_uri.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/954590 Title: GLib-CRITICAL warning when setting a solid color as background To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/954590/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 954647] [NEW] BGHash: Check for 'picture-option', not only 'picture-uri'
Public bug reported: In BGHash.cpp, the decision whether to use the background image or the solid color(s) do determine the tint color is based on the existence of the background filename: const gchar *filename = gnome_bg_get_filename (bg); if (filename == NULL) { // we might have a gradient instead However, it also depends on the value of 'picture-options'. It's possible* to have a valid background filename and 'picture-options' set to 'none', causing a solid background/gradient to show. In Unity 5.6, it then would tint launcher co. with the color from the background image. To reproduce, run the following in a terminal: gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background color-shading-type solid gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background primary-color #ff gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-uri file:///usr/share/backgrounds/warty-final-ubuntu.png gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background picture-options none → you'll see a white solid background with a launcher tinted with the color from the default wallpaper. *) You have to manually set this, but it works. I'd understand if you decide to close this report as 'Opinion'. [Bug 952084] [NEW] Cannot set solid color background when background fading is disabled
Public bug reported: When I try to set a solid color as desktop background with background fading disabled, all I get is a black background, no matter what color I choose in the control center/System Settings. The same works fine if I either enable background fading or use a vertical or horizontal 'color- shading-type'. TEST CASE: 1. Press Super, type 'Appearance', and open the result. 2. Make sure you have a background image selected. 3. Disable background fading from the command line: gsettings set org.gnome.nautilus.desktop background-fade false 4. In the 'Appearance' dialog, try to set a solid color other than black. RESULT: * No matter what color is set, the background will always stay black.
