[Bug 703240] Re: El sistema de autenticación se queda bloqueado en centro de software de ubuntu

I can confirm this behaviour.

It has been happening for some weeks

This only happens with software-center. Any other graphical process that
may ask for sudo credentials seems to work right.

[Bug 703240] Re: The authentication system gets stuck on ubuntu software center

2011-01-15 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
Test case (always reproducible)
--

1) Install a prior version of a package; for example:

apt-get -f install python-apport=1.14.1-0ubuntu8

2) Go to «Software Center» --- Gestor de Software in spanish

3) Select update. There should notify that the package downgraded
previously is available for upgrade

4) Select upgrade. Then the sudo password dialogue window should appear.
Put sudo password

--- the dialog-window gets stuck, both buttons (cancel and authenticate)
don't work --- see screenshot attached

Workaround: close the window pressing the X on the left-top.

As the window is closed, the install proceeds normally

** Attachment added: screenshot of authenticate dialog window stuck

[Bug 517469] [NEW] firefox-3.6.2pre from safe-upgrade fails to work in some ssl2 sites

2010-02-05 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Hi all,

Today's firefox safe-upgrade from aptitude in karmic has caused
problems with firefox accessing ssl2 sites.

Steps to reproduce:
---

* Try to access a ssl2 site, ie vmware-server 2 VI Web console

Error:
--

* The site times out.

I've reproduced the issue with two different vwmare servers; also I've
got a timeout here in https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net (though I cannot
confirm that the issue wasn't caused by the server.

Workarround:

* Set security.enable_ssl2;true (as it defaults to false)

This seems to be a known issue with firefox-3.6 either in mozilla [1] and in
vmware [2]

[Bug 499431] [NEW] /usr/sbin/argus requested by /etc/init.d/argus-server is missing

2009-12-22 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
Public bug reported:

Probably it's a dup of bug #192868 however the files and the release are
not the same.

The issue is that the init script in karmic of argus-server sets as the
daemon file the file /usr/sbin/argus which doesn't exists after argus-
server installation.

r...@snortids:/usr/share/doc/argus-server# grep -C3 ^DAEMON=
/etc/init.d/argus-server
DEFAULTS=/etc/default/argus-server
LOGFILE=/var/log/argus/argus.log
CONFFILE=/etc/argus.conf
DAEMON=/usr/sbin/argus
NAME=argus
PIDFILE=/var/run/argus.pid

The init.d script arises an exit 1 error. The exit 1 appears after
testing the existence of /usr/sbin/argus file

r...@snortids:/usr/share/doc/argus-server# bash -x /etc/init.d/argus-server
start
+ set -e
+ DEFAULTS=/etc/default/argus-server
+ LOGFILE=/var/log/argus/argus.log
+ CONFFILE=/etc/argus.conf
+ DAEMON=/usr/sbin/argus
+ NAME=argus
+ PIDFILE=/var/run/argus.pid
+ test -f /etc/default/argus-server
+ . /etc/default/argus-server
++ STARTUP=boot
+ '[' boot = dialup ']'
+ '[' boot = none ']'
+ '[' '!' -f /etc/argus.conf ']'
+ test -x /usr/sbin/argus
+ exit 1

The right file seems to be /usr/sbin/argus-linux which exists.

Just creating a symlink of that script to the missing /usr/bin/argus
file (or editing the init.d script to point to the right file) solves
the problem:

r...@snortids:/usr/share/doc/argus-server# ln -s /usr/sbin/argus_linux
/usr/sbin/argus
r...@snortids:/usr/share/doc/argus-server# bash -x /etc/init.d/argus-server
start
+ set -e
+ DEFAULTS=/etc/default/argus-server
+ LOGFILE=/var/log/argus/argus.log
+ CONFFILE=/etc/argus.conf
+ DAEMON=/usr/sbin/argus
+ NAME=argus
+ PIDFILE=/var/run/argus.pid
+ test -f /etc/default/argus-server
+ . /etc/default/argus-server
++ STARTUP=boot
+ '[' boot = dialup ']'
+ '[' boot = none ']'
+ '[' '!' -f /etc/argus.conf ']'
+ test -x /usr/sbin/argus
+ case $1 in
+ echo -n 'Starting network auditing daemon: '

+ '[' -f /var/run/argus.pid ']'
+ /usr/sbin/argus -w /var/log/argus/argus.log -n /var/run/argus.pid

argus.

init=/bin/bash) that are available at this time from archives.ubuntu.com

The workaround of removing and reinstalling mountall didn't work for me.

[Bug 430667] Re: upstart hangs at udev unknown key errors

2009-09-16 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
This is the same problem reported in bug
https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/430272 who someone marked as dup of
an unrelated bug (IMHO)

If you boot in single the boot stops after init-bottom

You can press ctrl-alt-supr and reboot so the system isn't hang

I've been updating all updates since last night booting as
init=/bin/bash but the issue isn't fixed yet so it is still a problem

single you'll get stuck after scripts/init-bootom

[Bug 430272] Re: karmic boot hung after /scripts/init-bottom

2009-09-16 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
Since seems that some people got this issue fixed by some late night
update and I was still stuck w/o booting (no matter if I applied those
updates too) I've reinstalled my testing partition and upgrade all
pending updates.

Now the system boots fine (I still see those udev warnings from bug
#430654 but that's certainly another issue)

So the package (upstart?) that broke the boot process seems to have been
fixed in some update last night or today but that fix seems that wasn't
able to repair the mess that the buggy update caused at first.

Now I'm happy again :-)

[Bug 430272] Re: karmic boot hung after /scripts/init-bottom

2009-09-16 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
Carfield Yim,

I wasn't able to fix the issue directly from updates. However if you
want to boot into something you can edit the boot parameters in grub:

e to edit
replace the boot parameters from ro to rw init=/bin/bash

and you'll be able to access a limited shell (no job control)

hence you can enable your network (dhclient didn't work for me) ie:

ifconfig eth0 yourip/your netmask up; route add default gw your gw
eth0; echo nameserver your favorite dns /etc/resolv.conf

Hence you'll be able to run apt-get or aptitude

As said before, despite all the updates applied in the last 15 hours, I
had to reinstall to get the issue fixed

Probably this crash is closely related to bug #42 but as the
backtrace differs quite I'm submitting as different bug.

This time firefox greyed out and shortly after crashed while browsing

I haven't found yet a reproducible test case.

[Bug 374108] Re: snd-intel8x0.ko Every boot hangs (times out) 3 minutes after upgrade to 9.04

2009-05-31 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
I solved the issue some time ago but I hadn't got the chance to put some
feedback

The issue got solved when I removed the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
file generated by alsa-base (which I'm attaching here).

Indeed what I did was to purge (un-install) the alsa-base package as
seems that now the sound is provided by pulseaudio.

Hopefully in next upgrade this issue will be handler better :-)

[Bug 374488] Re: Firefox received signal SIGPIPE, Broken pipe.

2009-05-10 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
Thank you Ascar for your report

Is this behavior always reproducible? If so, please can you detail a
step by step test case including links to the page that eventually
causes the problem? Try to reproduce the problem after starting firefox
with -safe-mode parameter.

Also please indicate which plugins/addons do you have enabled.

Please if you have time, follow the hints on this link [1] to obtain a
symbolized backtrace of the crash as the backtrace you posted doesn't
include debug symbols. For example you should install the ddeb package
that matches your binary version for xulrunner from [2] and for firefox
from [3]

2009-05-04 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
Thank you Jim Alain for your report

Is this behavior always reproducible? If so, please can you detail a
step by step test case including links to the page that eventually
causes the problem?

Also please indicate which plugins do you have enabled.

Finally try to reproduce the problem after starting firefox with -safe-
mode parameter.

Thank you in advance

[Bug 337759] Re: openerp-server depends on python-xml and is therefore uninstallable ATM

2009-05-04 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
I've tested the suggestion and patches from Jonathan Harker in my Ubuntu
9.04.

The server starts but I get a bunch of problems (ie bug #322964)

The only way I've managed to get it work in Ubuntu 9.04 is starting the
server with python2.5 and link:

ln -s /usr/lib/python2.6/dist-packages/oldxml/_xmlplus/utils/boolean.so
/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/oldxml/_xmlplus/utils/

Of course I meant the firefox debug symbol package from
http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/pool/main/f/firefox-3.0/ that matches your
installed version.

[Bug 370400] Re: Firefox 3 crash with flash radio stream

2009-05-03 Thread Hilario J. Montoliu (hjmf)
Thank you dysonsphere for your report,

Is the crash reproducible? If so can you describe in as much detail as possible
the steps to reproduce it.

Also if you manage to reproduce the crash, it would be nice if you have
previously installed the debug symbols package
(http://ddebs.ubuntu.com/pool/main/x/xulrunner-1.9/)

I've tried to reproduce it in Jaunty with no succeed

Thank you in advance
