[Bug 976397] Re: in Kubuntu 12.04, plasma-desktop does not start in the KDE session
Hi, I am not sure if this is the same bug. I am using KUBUNTU 12.04 kernel 3.2.0.23-generic. Yesterday Thu. May 23 I updated to the latest .24-generic version, then after logging in I could not see KDE Plasma- workspace and Plasma-workspace (failsafe) sessions. All I got were Default and Failsafe sessions. Making either choice results in a blank desktop although I could still move the cursor but nothing else happens. After switching to console login and cd /usr/share/autostart/plasma- desktop, I got the following error messages: 1. Session D-bus connection created before QcoreApplication. Application may misbehave. 2. Plasma-desktop (1675): KUniqueApplication: cannot find D-bus session server. Unable to auto-launch a d-bus daemon without a display for X-11. 3. Plasma-desktop (1674): KUniqueApplication: pipe closed unexpectedly. In frustration, I dowloaded the iso for Kubuntu 12.04 x86_64 (same as before) and did a clean install. This is why I am still using kernel 3..2.0-23-generic and have not updated the system, until there's a definite solution to this bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kde-workspace in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/976397 Title: in Kubuntu 12.04, plasma-desktop does not start in the KDE session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-workspace/+bug/976397/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 298509] Re: ubiquity crashed with ValueError in command()
Based on the solution to Bug#298509, retried installing 10.04 beta2. After the first crash, a gnome desktop appeared. I clicked on Accessories to open a terminal to type ubiquity --no-migration- assistant, before hitting the install ubuntu 10.04 folder. After selecting boot loader location, I deliberately chose NOT to migrate any documents or settings and proceed with Install. The installation or ubiquity crashed near the very end. Screen went black then same ubuntu desktop re-appears with error message: ubiquity crashed with value error in command(). [Bug 289484] Re: package cairo-dock-data 1.6.2.3-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/share/cairo-dock/emblems/charge.svg', which is also in package cairo-dock
Hi, I finally was able to solve the problem of disappearing cairo-dock in my Ubuntu Intrepid laptop, courtesy of the solution posted in www.cairo- dock.org. First, I purged all cairo-dock related applications, updated and saved the sources file, sudo apt-get update, and finally re- installed cairo-dock, cairo-dock-data and cairo-dock-plug-ins. Now I have the latest cairo-dock version 1.6.3.1 -- package cairo-dock-data 1.6.2.3-0ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite `/usr/share/cairo-dock/emblems/charge.svg', which is also in package cairo-dock https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/289484 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Hi, Thanks for replying to me. I found that Cairo Dock plugins was not installed (or somehow uninstalled by Intrepid upgrade), so I re-installed it. However, when I checked in Applications, I still don't see Cairo Dock at its usual place, in fact I don't see it at all. Synaptic Package Manager shows that Cairo Dock is installed. Pleasse help me get Cairo Dock back. Thanks.
