[Bug 1267866] Re: usb audio: cannot get ctl value: req = 0x81, wValue = 0x0, wIndex = 0x1400, type = 3

2014-12-20 Thread Ionică Bizău
Hi Julian,

I returned the card to the shop since I didn't have a good experience with it.
I was using `ignore_ctl_error=1` to prevent that ugly error...

Hopefully, this will be fixed...

Cheers

[Bug 1088146] Re: Asus n56vz battery state is wrong or battery not charging at all.

2014-08-02 Thread Ionică Bizău
Just happened on my ASUS N550J notebook, running 14.04.

I ran `sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get dist-upgrade` and waited to finish
updating.
Then I rebooted the machine, and everything seems to work fine now.

[Bug 1321330] Re: Cannot record piano

2014-05-21 Thread Ionică Bizău
@len-ovenwerks
Which program are you using to record your piano?
I use Audacity (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/)

Is it recording directly from alsa? or by using pulseaudio?
I guess that by using pulseaudio. How can I record directly from alsa?

If you have switched anything you may have to restart your recording
application (audacity works well by the way) to get the new settings. The
recording tab should show the application you are recording with when in
record mode (record plus pause is useful to set levels with before starting
 to record).
The default microphone takes sounds from room (it's the internal laptop
microphone). When I select the other options no sounds are captured...

I will add the steps to reproduce the problem but it requires to have a
external audio card.

Will this be fixed in 7 days? If not, I will return the device to the
shop...

[Bug 1267866] Re: Broken pipelline when changing the sound card

2014-01-15 Thread Ionică Bizău
your lsusb output did not contain any vendor specific class

The vendor specific informations appear only when USB Audio 2.0 is
selected, but unfortunately when it is selected lsusb throws an error

When USB Audio 2.0 is selected I am able to see in alsa mixer - F6
Xonar ... option. When I select it alsamixer crashes.

can you post the system log ?

What command to run for that?

did you compter suspend and resume ?
What you mean?

Where I can find the contact information of guys that wrote the Linux
driver?

[Bug 1267866] Re: Broken pipelline when changing the sound card

2014-01-12 Thread Ionică Bizău
An error is thrown:

$ alsactl store -f abc.txt
alsactl: get_control:256: Cannot read control '2,0,0,PCM Capture Source,0':
Broken pipe

Also, one clue: in the external sound card (the hardware element) I have a
switcher: USB Audio 2.0 and USB Audio 1.0.

When 2.0 is selected the laptop recognizes it as Xonar U7. The error
appears only when 2.0 is selected.

If I select 1.0 the laptop recognizes it as USB Audio Device - the
error does NOT appear. I can select it.

Is this helpful? What is USB Audio must I choose?

[Bug 1263915] [NEW] Switch between microphones in Ubuntu 13.04

2013-12-24 Thread Ionică Bizău
Public bug reported:

I want to record sounds from my piano. For this I have a jack cable that
connects the piano with my laptop.

My laptop has an built-in microphone that I don't want to use it when
recording from my keyboard.

So, I connected my piano with the laptop by jack cable.

I can hear the piano sounds but Audacity records the internal microphone
sounds.

If I connect a microphone instead of piano, I can record the microphone
sounds using Audacity.

`pactl list sources` outputs this in the `Ports` section:

### Case 1

Piano is connected:

analog-input-microphone-internal: Internal Microphone (priority: 8900)
analog-input-microphone: Microphone (priority: 8700, not available)

### Case 2

An external microphone is connected:

analog-input-microphone-internal: Internal Microphone (priority: 8900, not
available)
analog-input-microphone: Microphone (priority: 8700, available)

How can I record the piano sounds?

2013-12-24 Thread Ionică Bizău
The microphone and the hadphone jacks are into one jack with 4 pins. I
use a splitter to separate them.

The splitter works fine separathing the single jack into two: headphone
and microphone jacks.

I connected the headphones to the splitter (the headphone splitter) and
the cable that comes from piano into the microphone jack from splitter.
I can hear the piano sounds very clear, but I cannot record them.

If I connect a microphone instead of the piano, the laptop captures the
microphone sounds (not the internal microphone but the microphone I
plugged into the splitter) and it is able to record them.

do your laptop support mic jack ?

Yes, using the splitter it should work fine...

[Bug 1262667] [NEW] Microphone works, but line in not on laptop with one jack for line in and line out

2013-12-19 Thread Ionică Bizău
Public bug reported:

I have an interesting issue with Ubuntu. I have a laptop that has one
jack for line in/microphone and line out/headphones.

This the reason why I bought a spliter like in the attached image.

Splits one 4 pines jack into two jacks: micrphone and line out

I have an external studio microphone and headphones with the micrphone.

## Case 1 (Working)

If I connect the micrphone of headphones to spliter that is inserted
into my laptop, I can record my micrphone.

HEADPHONES MIC +
   |
   +--- LAPTOP
   |
HEADPHONES OUTPUT -+

## Case 2 (NOT Working)

If I connect another an external hardware (for example a piano) to the
splitter, I cannot record anything... This is the issue. How can Ubuntu
recognize if there is a headphones micrphone or an external hardware
that is NOT a headphones micrphone?

PIANO +
   |
   +--- LAPTOP
   |
HEADPHONES OUTPUT -+

...and the question is how to fix this? I want to record my piano using
my laptop: through line in.

Would be the splitter an cause?

Do I really need a hardware that I don't have (like an USB recorder)?

---

**Update**: tested with Windows 8 on same laptop. It works properly...
(Un)Fortunately, I am an Ubuntu user, so I will not go back to the
Windows world... Still searching for a solution on Ubuntu.

I asked this on AskUbuntu and no solution found...
