[Bug 164208] Re: Thunderbird fails to start

2008-05-21 Thread Ivan Schoultz
Found my problem, and fixed it too (not bad for the new kid on the
block, hehehehe :-)

a hidden folder : ~/home/.fonts
That folder all has symbolic links to the actual font files located in my fonts
repository folder.

2 Problems:
1) Some of the actual font files had become corrupted. (Specifically tahoma.ttf
and trebuchet.ttf)
Solution: restored good files from a Windows machine.

2) Some of the symbolic links to a few fonts no longer worked because the
repository container folder had been renamed (none of these fonts were causing
errors in the output window though, but probably would have at a later date.)
Solution: renamed the repository back to what it was so all the originals fonts
can be properly located.

cheers.

[Bug 164208] Re: Thunderbird fails to start

2008-05-21 Thread Ivan Schoultz
Hi There

I'm also getting this problem, it seems to be also affecting how Firefox
displays some pages (some fonts on some pages don't display, some pages
don't display at all)

>From my konsole:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ thunderbird

(thunderbird-bin:24005): Pango-WARNING **: failed to create cairo scaled
font, expect ugly output. the offending font is 'Arial Bold 12'

(thunderbird-bin:24005): Pango-WARNING **: failed to create cairo scaled
font, expect ugly output. the offending font is 'Arial Bold 27'

(thunderbird-bin:24005): Pango-WARNING **: failed to create cairo scaled font,
expect ugly output. the offending font is 'Trebuchet MS Bold 13.5'
*** Calendar schema version is: 7

(thunderbird-bin:24005): Pango-WARNING **: failed to create cairo scaled font,
expect ugly output. the offending font is 'Arial Bold 9'
Segmentation fault
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

fractionally after this line: *** Calendar schema ver
the screen starts to display the outline of the Thunderbird app, but then it
disappears and the rest of the errors display in the konsole window.

I am using Kubuntu 8.04; Thunderbird 2; Firefox 3 Beta 5.

[Bug 196969] Re: Export as PDF bug

2008-03-09 Thread Ivan Schoultz
Hi Chris

On one of the recent Adept updates, there were a few OpenOffice.org
package updates which were applied. I have just tested the "Export as
PDF" option now, and all is working fine.

Attached is the screenshot showing the healthy panel.

Since last week's tests, I have not changed any font settings or
installed any new fonts. Something in those updates seems to have fixed
the buggy panel.

Does Adept (or any of the back-end apps) have logs? If so, where do I
look for them to get them to you for your reference?

Re: [Bug 196969] Re: Export as PDF bug

2008-03-03 Thread Ivan Schoultz
Hi Ralph

Thank you so much for responding. I hope this reply gives you enough
additional info to work with.

Attached are 3 screen shots of the 3 places, that I am aware of, where I
can change fonts on my machine (2 in the system settings, 1 inside
OpenOffice.org itself.)

I have changed fonts/options in each panel (2 times each,) and with each
new setting I still get the same empty "export as PDF" panel as
originally posted.

Please feel free to contact me should you require any additional info.
