[Bug 1968155] acpidump.txt

2022-04-07 Thread J.J. Berkhout
apport information

** Attachment added: "acpidump.txt"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1968155/+attachment/5577878/+files/acpidump.txt

** Description changed:

Going from kernel version 5.4.0-99 to 5.4.0-100 my optical drive (Pioneer
BD-RW BDR-207M) became unusable. I include a selection of the errors, the
dmesg errors immediately after boot without trying to use the drive yet, the
system specs from system report, and the output of the inxi -Fdxxx commandin
the file attachment.txt.
Up to and including kernel 5.4.0-99 everything worked OK. Kernel 5.13.0-30
also works, from kernel 5.13.0-35 the same problem occurs. Might it be a
problem with atalib?

[Bug 1667821] Re: load target breaks make

2017-02-27 Thread J.J. Green
This would seem to be a recent change to behaviour, and a quick google
search shows examples with a space before the colon in Gnu make's own
documentation and of other makes. This being the case, a couple of
lines of C printing a more helpful message in the case that the Makefile
requests that it load an .so called ":" might be appropriate. Just
sayin'.

Best wishes,

Jim

this minimal example extracted from a Makefile with a load target which has

[Bug 1527732] Re: Asus S400CA inverted microphone (Skype not usable)

2015-12-25 Thread J.J. Berkhout
** Description changed:

System: Asus S400CA with Linux Mint 17.3 Rosa, kernel 3.19.0-39-generic
  #44~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Wed Dec 2 10:00:35 UTC 2015 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64
  GNU/Linux

Running Skype, sound input from microphone does not work. When (in
alsa-mixer OR in pavucontrol) one channel is reduced and the other is
maximized, sound input works although not at full volume.

  Alsa information:
  http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=4fd8506e1121c53b192c73150ba74fb24075314e

  Edit:
This is NOT a bug in the alsa-driver, but a problem with the settings of my
system. I changed the /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf by adding the line:

  options snd-hda-intel model=auto

which repaired the microphone response in alsamixer and pavucontrol.
Skype still did not work, but after fiddling around with the settings under
"Recording" in pavucontrol I got it working. My excuses if I wasted anyone's
time. Please accept that I use this system for only the last week and have no
experience with Linux whatsoever.

[Bug 958174] Re: Wireless Mouse not registered on Startup or Reboot

2013-07-02 Thread J.J. Valenzuela
This is what I'm going to try tonight:
1. Use a USB 2.0 port instead of USB 3.0. This thread seems to have a pattern
of people having it not work on boot with USB3 but it works fine on USB2.
2. If that doesn't work, try software from www.hidpoint.com
3. If that doesn't work, update to the very latest kernel, 3.10 i believe.

[Bug 958174] Re: Wireless Mouse not registered on Startup or Reboot

2013-06-30 Thread J.J. Valenzuela
Comment 50 worked for me. I have Logitech K800 keyboard and M510 mouse,
both use the Unified Wireless Receiver (USB) and on boot (on Mint 15)
they would never load, I had to unplug and plug the receiver in before
they would work. commenting out usbmouse and usbkbd worked for me.
They now load on boot.

[Bug 616471] Re: No birthdays shown by gbirthday

2010-10-27 Thread J.J. Green
I also a similar problem, but I do not use syncevolution. I have 3
friends with birthdays a couple of days ago, but gbirthday does not
display their names. Editing the gbirthday script and uncommenting the
print statement at

ano = sDate.year - int(ano)

temporal = [icono, bday, name, str(d), d, sDate.month,
sDate.day, ano]
# print temporal
cumplelista.append(temporal)

I get the output

  ['birthdaylost.png', '1964-10-25', 'R, A', '-3', -3, 10, 25, 46]
  ['birthdaylost.png', '1965-10-26', 'B#, D', '-2', -2, 10, 26, 45]
  ['birthdaylost.png', '1968-10-26', 'Q#, B##', '-2', -2, 10, 26, 42]

(slightly anonymised with hashes), so the program is definitely reading
the data, but there are only the icons in the gbirthday display, as in
the attached.

Public bug reported:

The verbiste GUI allows saving in latex format, but the output cannot be

[Bug 301929] [NEW] Brasero locks up while creating audio CD

2008-11-24 Thread J.J.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

I have a clean install of Ubuntu 8.10. I was giving the update a once
over and testing out the necessities. Every time I open Brasero, I can
click on create an audio CD. Then when I click on a MP3 I want to add
and click Add, it adds it just fine. But when I start searching for
the next MP3 to add, after about 5 seconds, it locks up. The build is up
to date. I can recreate the lock up every single time. The program then
greys out and I have to force quit it. Any ideas? I've seen a few
instances of this error online but no solution yet. This is on a Dell
Vostro 200. And Brasero version 0.8.2.0ubuntu1.
